My Stromeng Leuku 8". Not my most expensive knife but it's my favorite. It does everything I need a knife for when camping. I pair it either with a puukko or a spyderco pm2 that i keep in my pocket if I don't want 2 knives on my belt.

Well I'm buying as a gift, so really anything that isn't rediculous. I came to this board 2 years ago to buy my cousin a sword, and they had a lot more threads geared towards swords back then, and there were a lot of infographics/links, which is why I'm asking.
If a more specific answer helps:
I'd prefer it to be battle-ready, insofar as you can actually swing it around without it breaking at the hilt and flying away, and get it reasonably sharp.
I'd be fine with japanese swords like katanas, or with more european-style swords, medieval, etc.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a sword either, but something that is a legitimate weapon nonetheless, and can be displayed on a wall or shelf. Preferably something on the longer side (at least 3 feet).
Also preferably something that is attractive to look at. I know that your average short sword is cool in its own right, but it's nothing that a visitor would see and go "oh that's interesting". But then again, any sword, with enough decoration can look nice.
Really I'm looking for
a) A good place to shop for swords
b) Something less than $300
c) Some kind of information on what to look for to ensure I'm getting something that is actual quality.
And also to calm any nerves

For European styled swords, under $300. Stick with Windlass, a hanwei tinker, or ronin katana euro sword. The tinkers or ronin are the best
The tinker line is pretty bare so if you want something a bit more decorative, but still functional, it might not be what you want.
For Japanese swords, I know less. I have a ronin dojo pro #18. It's a nice sword though I'm not a fan of the katana so I can't recommend a whole lot
For more modern euro stuff like sabres, Windlass has a few, Universal offers some things - avoid their munitions grade offers as they admit they are lower quality than others - their princess of whales being the best they offer.

Is this the knife general currently? If so, what knife would you recommend in the 100-200 dollar price range.
Looking for a blade around three inches in length or under. Lock style doesn't matter, deployment style doesn't matter, and I'm a fan of Spyderco and boker personally. I've looked into the paramilitary 2, and a couple benchmades, but don't have much experience with higher end ones.
Current edc is a boker rhino, and I wouldn't mind getting something to replace it.
