I picked up three of their USPs, and also got a 416 upper from them. They love me... Or at least my wallet. Clyde are some good guys. When the panic happened, they kept prices astonishingly low (though there was a very slight increase) and limited purchases to make sure that everyone had a chance to buy.
Franklin kinda overcharges for shit, and during the panic took more of a "If someone wants to buy all my ammo at once, it's fucking sold" approach. Exact quote from the owner in a crowded store to... nobody in particular, it seemed? I'm not saying it's a bad business move. Hell, it's the smart one. But Clyde has more heart. And less fudds.

Clyde's is clearly the better store, as should be expected from a place that actually stocks Colts. But Franklin's usually has some cool trades. They run that cost sale (only once a year now) but good luck getting any guns or ammo. Great deals on clothes, fishing gear, even Yetis.
I'm still torn over if the Athens Gun Club or the old range was better. The guys who ran the old range were kinda dicks but you could rent machine guns cheap. Now that's redone it's much nicer, they're friendlier, and have a better selection but the last time I was there I listened to the workers talking and realized that CoD kiddies are now old enough to work in a gun shop and carry handguns.

Clyde is the best gun store in the state imo. I went to Auburn and would always go by there when visiting my best friend. I still kick myself for not buying an FN FAL they had at Franklin though. Clyde's just has the best employees. Their selection and prices are good, but their employees are the best.

Gun laws are fantastic aside from the need for a CCW to OC a pistol. Live north of 285, preferably north of the 75-575 split. If you dont need to work in the city id suggest moving to north Georgia in the mountains. That place is gorgeous, weather isn't as shit as down south, and the air is clear as can be. Plus you have the whole national forest to shoot in.

Starting off with the basics, go to the football games. There's going to be a lot of away games next season (two in ATL) but go to the ones that are at Paulson. You get in free as a student, the tailgates are the bomb, and people will get drunk and then walk to the game. Good times overall. Second, don't be afraid to introduce yourself if you don't know anyone in the class. Assuming you have basic social skills, you'll make friends no problem. Third, if you're going to be part of a fraternity, prepare for drinking and drugs. You probably won't be forced to do any drugs, but you'll probably be peer-pressured into drinking as a pledge. And for dorms, I stayed in Centennial Place. Very good dorm, but it's the most expensive iirc. Eagle Village and Freedom's Landing are cool, but I'd avoid Kennedy and Watson.
As far as guns, I think the university range does a kind of locker storage thing. Depending on what you got, I'd be willing to keep your shit in my place if you want. My roommate's a gun owner and we're living right off campus.

Firing Line is alright, they have a "Dynamic Pistol Match" thursday nights. Its pretty fun, it's IDPA basically. They charge hourly.
Hi-Caliber just had a remodel, so the show room is bigger, which is good. They charge a flat rate for all day shooting. Weekends it's hard to get a lane. Could have better ventilation.

Anything that has to do with shooting pretty much falls on me and my dad. We can build whatever we want on it. Steel is my project after making the berm a lot wider. Only problem is you can only shoot out to about 100-150 feet because of the trees and shrubs. There is a little trail you could move farther down to about 300-400 feet. It's flooded right now though because of the damn beavers damming up the creek
