So I'm getting my first .22 rifle (up until now I've only shot 30-06 and 12 gauge, but I've occasionally shot a .22) and I know if I got a Ruger id dress it up like an ar, so why not just get a mossberg 715t?
>>
Btw my budget is under 260 so no mp-1522
>>
>>30151496
Why an AR? You could probably do fine with a 10/22
>>
>>30151544
I just really like the aesthetics and feel of an ar
>>
>>30151544
Because op is a fag who wants to play operator.
>>
>>30151544
Also I want a rifle to act as a trainer for my .223
>>
>>30151496
the mossberg is a legitimately shitty gun made as cheaply as possible dont buy it
>>
>>30151598
Are there any other .22s that could work as a trainer for my center fire ar?
>>
>>30151608
just buy a conversion kit if your that broke
>>
>>30151608
Just buy a 22lr bcg and call it good
>>
Also, could a Ruger American rim fire work as a trainer for my American 30-06?
>>
>>30151598
What makes them so bad? I have a friend who owns one and she's never had an issue with it.

its a 702 in a plastic clamshell

the 702 is garbage its basically the bare minimum required for a working gun and priced accordingly
if you detail strip it its a god awful clusterfuck inside
especially if you can compare it to the internals of a marlin or ruger you can see all the corners cut in manufacturing and the ruger/marlin standards arent that high to begin with
>>
>>30151496
The 715 is shit. Have a friend that had two of them and my neighbor has had one. All three guns jam up constantly.

I have a ruger 10/22 and a beretta arx160 in .22, and I really recommend the 10/22. The beretta is a fine gun, but save yourself $100.

And if you really are dead set on AR stylings, walther makes a good 416 styled .22
>>
>>30151775
Is there a 10/22 stock that mimics an ar well?
>>
>>30151805
buy airsoft you broke motherfucker
you are not going to find what you want in your price range

really the best option for you is an ar and a conversion kit or an ar and a 22lr rifle thats not a pos and looks nothing like an ar
>>
>>30151830
Woah, chill. I asked if there was a Ruger stock that mimicked an ar.
>>
If you REALLY want a .22 AR, get an M&P-15/22 or a Colt M4-22. They accept true AR-15 parts such as triggers, stocks, and grips. Do not touch the mossbergs though. they are just standard fudd tier semi autos in a plastic shell/
>>
holy christ what a waste of money
>>
>>30151888
For the mossberg?
>>
Unrelated but what's a good CA legal .22 pistol that'll be good for hunting small game SHTF?
>>
>>30151926
Idk California laws, but a sw 617 can't be beat.
>>
>>30151869
>If you REALLY want a .22 AR
assemble a dedicated Ar for 22
>spikes , cmmg, or taccom .22 barrel
>cmmg bcg and collar
>boonie packer mag adapter
>S&W 15-22 mags
>whatever other ar upper/lower/parts you want
seriously, this is the best option. very similar to a 5.56 ar, lrbho works like normal and uses 15-22 mags which IMO are way better than blackdogs or cmmg.
of course the down side is cost, youre looking at maybe $600+ minimum
>>
>>30151926
Chiappa little badger. Not a pistol, but a folding rifle. Cheap too. Can mount a suppressor for those living in non-commie states.

There's also the pak-rifle, more expensive but fuck is it neat.
>>
>>30151775
Had one for a while. My bro bought a 15-22 instead. My hk416-22 ran like a raped ape for 3,000 rounds before I sold it. Would do again over the 15-22.

Umarex makes a Colt M4 that's identical on the inside. It goes for near $300 on CDNN. Do that if you are broke.

If you can't afford a sub $400 gun, you should probably just sped your money on more ammo and shoot what you already own.

Being good at shooting guns > owning a ton of cheap shit,.

I own the 15-22. You should just save up and get that.
It's actually very, very nice.
>>
>>30151962
>>30151937
Thanks for the suggestions. Really like that Chiappa idea though.
>>
>>30151994
.223 is expensive, I want to get good without breaking the bank.
>>
>>30152024
.223 isn't expensive though

Just get your ass a regular AR and one of these drop in conversion kits. I use one in my 20" A4gery, and shit is accurate enough to hit cans at 100yds. I barely even need to adjust for elevation, which surprised me.
>>
I haven't shot any of them, but this is what I remember from researching when I had the wants you have, OP.

Mossberg 715T: shit in the core, pain to disassemble the shit furniture, mimics AR furniture and look, but not controls, trigger, or mags. Cheap. Avoid.

Ruger 10/22 dressed like an AR: good at the core, pain to disassemble, mimics AR furniture and look but not controls, trigger, or mags. Midpriced. What I got, only slight regret.

S&W M&P15-22: good at the core, easy to disassemble, true AR furniture, looks, controls, and modularity. Midpriced. My recommendation to you.

5.56 AR15 with drop-in .22lr conversion: good at the core, easy to disassemble, true AR furniture, looks, trigger, controls, and modularity. 5.56-suited rifling makes some .22lr ammo inaccurate. My recommendation to people that already have their 5.56.
>>
>>30152024
hello 2012man
take a seat and rest before you get too baffled by our current society

The ammo price difference has been reduced lately, enough that you should just go ahead and shoot 5.56 to train for shooting 5.56, if your backstop's not shit.
>>
>>30152175
I have a .223
>>
>>30152175
Down here where I live .223 is a buck a shot
>>
>>30152111
>I haven't shot any of them
disregard that, I'm retarded
mid-re-writing I forgot that my 10/22 used to have this archangel garbage on it
>>
>>30152232
where the hell do you live? somewhere you cant buy online?
>>
>>30151589
the M&P-15-22 is the only option that will actually let you train. sorry its out of your price range, maybe save up and buy a used one

What this guy said .
The M&P 15-22 is the answer .
If you plan on modding it later-just save the
$$$$$ and do it RIGHT off the bat .
Mine is one of my favorite rifles .
>>
>>30151496
because a 10/22 is more reliable
>>
>>30151496

If you really want a AR trainer in .22 get a M&P-15/22.

The Mossbergs are complete shit. I've had Appleseed instructors tell me that people bring them to Appleseeds and they rattle apart a day in.

If you really want an AR, buy an AR, don't buy a .22 dressed as one.
