Time for another one of these. A lot of things have happened since the last one.

>Dilma Rouseff, the bulgarian jew, has been kicked out of office for 6 months
>Michel Temer, the vice president, has taken over
>Budget cuts, especially on the Ministry of Culture (which he ended and, later, brought back) are making the communist go apeshit
>Worker's Party backed political groups are crumbling down without government money flowing their way
>leftists mad

And to top it all off, the cherry on the ice cake:

>a 16 year old girl was 'raped' by '30 men' (all drug-dealers) on a favela in Rio
>known slut on the region, facebook pics show her holding rifles and throwing gang signs
>how under death oath by Comando Vermelho, the biggest crime faction on the country, for drawing attention and fucking up the drug dealing there
>Civilian Police is a complete mess (as always), case investigator got transfered from case for being too 'mysogynistic'
>substitute head-investigator, a woman, disregards medical examination showing there was no violence
>the entire favela is pissed off that there is no more drug dealing there because of this case

It's one hell of a time to live in Brazil, I'll tell you that. But, despite of all that, we're still going on with life as usual, pretty much. Thanks to the recent stabilization of politics, I've found myself some free time to do another thread.

Go ahead, ask me anything.

So the system works? Or will revolution still be necessary?

I'm amazed rule of law still means something in South America.
>>
>>30138653

>So the system works? Or will revolution still be necessary?

Yes. Life is as usual, pretty much. About a month ago we had a lot of protests, and that was a pain in the ass, but it's ok now. No revolution for the moment.

I don't know Fallujah, but Rio is going trough a good period right now. It's relatively safe if compared to the South, where I live. We are going down the shitter.

Nem tinha lido todo o op na parte que falas na favelada, é verdade que na favela já andam a caçar e torturar os gajos da foda? And btw now the only thing that counts about rape in your country is the victim word, men are pretty much fucked there.
>>
>>30138670

>When on patrol are there certain no go areas

Not for my Company, no. There are 'take care of your fucking self' areas, but we go where we please.

>what is your arsenal consist of

Personal or in the police? Personal (and declared) is a Walther P99 and Taurus PT-92 (that actually belongs to the police, but I get to keep it for personal use). From the police, it varies. I have my own FAL and my own shotgun, an old ass no-brand 12 GA that works like a charm.

>what do you go against as far as organized crime? Cartels?

In my city, three to four medium factions. Up in Rio and SP, there are a few very big and organized factions.

>are there frequent shootouts with police

Yes. Anywhere from 2 to 5 a day in my city. Most of them have deaths.

>how well off are the cartels and how bad is corruption

The factions here are pretty shit, up in Rio and SP they are loaded. Corruption on the police is not that bad. Really. It's gotten a lot better over the years.

It's shit. Unreliable as fuck and no other reedeming qualities. Even goes as far as to fire by itself sometimes. We have some laws going in congress that make firearm ownership easier, but that will take another few years to pass, it if ever does. I the unlikely case that shit does go down big time, I think that the states are gonna be the major institutions the population will look up to, especially the Military Police, who will be the sole entitiy holding law and order. In that case, yes, many communist heads would roll. Right now, politicians are skeptical of the new government due to some corrupt men being appointed as ministers, but everyone is mostly calm right now. And no, no ideological guard yet. Unfortunetly, president Temer is not a hardcore nationalist.

What are the odds of being mugged by thugs or being forced to pay bribes by the local cop in Brazil as a tourist?
>>
>>30139517
It's any slum in Brazil you dumbfuck.
>>
>>30139541

Sure.

Right now, the legislation rulling over firearms is the Statue of Disarmament (I wish I was joking). It makes a pain in the ass for civilians to own weapons (no autos, no calibers bigger than 12 GA for long guns, .38 for revolvers and .380 for pistols) and impossible for them to CC them.

The new legislation is much less ridiculous, let's a few calibers in, makes the purchasing process less of a pain in the ass and admits the possibility of CC of a weapon.

Pretty high if you're a white tourist parading your cellphones, cameras and golden jewlery in a crowded or known dangerous area. If you keep your extravaganzes to a minimum, the odds drop significantly.

>being forced to pay bribes by the local cop in Brazil as a tourist?

Next to zero. Bribes are becoming rarer and rarer and you need a reason to be offered the opportunity bribe a cop (i.e. you commited a crime).

Brazil is way more unstable than the US will ever be. If anyone is becoming authoritarian, it's us. But thanks to the instability, this is actually a pretty fun country to live in. Every decade or so we boot a president. Every twenty of thirty years there's a coup. Pretty good stuff.

>>30139626

Don't leave main Rio de Janeiro (Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana). Don't display expensive stuff, and don't wear jewlery in public. Don't pay more than R$ 10,00 for a chair rental in the beach. Matter of factly, always be skeptical of prices. If they seem to high, you might be getting fucked over. And, needless to say, don't go looking for drugs. Hookers are fine, but stay away from drugs.

Things to indicate a person is in trouble, hum, let's see. If they are bleeding from a gun wound in the sidewalk they might me in trouble. If they are running like hell and there's a bunch of cops behind them, they are definetely in trouble. If you wanna know if someone is in trouble with the prospect of helping them - don't. Be a hero in your own hometown, there are too many variables here.

>>30139133
>So... Do you guys plan to legalize carrying and unrestricting firearms for the law abiding?

We do have this dream. As crime statistics skyrocket we become closer to reaching our goal. We're currently nearing 60 thousand homicides each year, and that's even without mentioning other heinous crimes such as rape, armed robbery, kidnapping + ransom, drug dealing, arms dealing and the list goes on, ever increasing.
>>
>>30139646

I actually took a moment to check this information out. Turns out I was wrong. It doesn't allow for more calibers, but it does keep that possibility open.

Going on patrol is the pinnacle of police work. It's tough, dangerous, demands calm and skilled men and, if you freak out, innocent people can get killed. There are a bunch of places I'd never go alone. Matter of factly, a patrol garrison is never less than four men. And yes, there are places we are scared to go, despite no one admiting it. But we go there anyway.

A patrol story, um, sure:

>get call on radio about a gas station being robbed
>4 guys on a GM Omega
>get going there, 30 minute drive
>on the way, get another call
>another gas station being robbed
>black GM Omega, all men armed with 'long guns' (that's what the victim said)
>arrive on the neighboorhood, another call
>bar robbed just a few streets from where we were, four guys on a GM Omega
>driving intensifies
>get there in a few seconds, catch the car taking off, go after them
>40 Km/h streets, going at 100+
>while i'm trying to coordinate other patrol vehicles using the radio, we get fired at
>so now i'm commading the car, trying to communicate with dispatch and other patrol cars and trying to shoot back all at the same time
>either me or one of my collegues in the back hits the driver, their car crashes hard
>approach the Omega
>two in the backseat are dead, both from 7.62 fire
>driver's head is 50% on the dashboard and 50% on the road about 100m back
>passenger is alive, somehow. my collegues beat the shit out of him because i'm too busy throwing up on the side of the road

Afterwards I stopped to check our car and it had 30+ bullet holes, mainly on my side. That's when I realised they were going for me, because they knew the garrison commander sat on the front passanger seat. Still don't know how nobody died that day.
>>
>>30140098

No. It's very rare to see corrupt Military Policemen, especially in the Southern/South regions of Brazil.

>Also, can the police search a house without a warrant if the owner denies them entry?

It's tough to find a real equivalent in the US. I think "State Police" might be an equivalent, but they do investigations as well. Maybe a dedicated state highway patrol/SWAT would suffice?

Police departments in the US tend to cover many things (investigations, traffic, certain registrations). The feds tend to focus on certain roles (DEA, ICE, etc.)

Glad you're still posting, wanted to ask you this.

If you had to choose a primary long gun to replace your current FALs what would it be an why? Personally I would probably choose something like an AK105, its compact, far more so than the FAL, it hits hard with its 7.62x39 cartridge and its cheap as dirt which I'm sure is a big selling factor for anything Brazil buys.

What about a secondary? For this I really have no idea what I'd pick.

>whats the percentage of you guys having to fire your weapons in a real world scenario at some point in your career?

100%. I don't know a single fellow PM that didn't have to use his weapon within the first year of active duty.

>How is it handled if you do shoot someone? Is it a bust out all the stops huge deal investigation?

Not really. We usually just take the bodies out of the road if they died there so the traffic can flow. If not, we just wait for the Civilian Police to take a few pictures and collect the bodies. A Military Inquiry is made to see if the use of force was necessary, but it's mostly a formality. If you killed in self-defense of life or property or if the guy was a known thung, nothing will happen.

>Its a pretty life/career changing event here in the states, is it kinda just "part of the job" for you guys?

It's not something nice, but it isn't life or career chaning. At least it shouldn't be. If you can't kill criminals then you can't be a cop.

I want to ask a question back to you: How come american policemen are so patient regarding drunken idiots, assholes threatening you and your garrison and just general contempt for the police? I saw some videos of people cursing the police, outright desobeying legal orders, threatening, etc. It if was me, they'd get a bone-breaking beating at the very least.

I heard a story once of a Municipal Police Department in the USA that had adopted a model just like our PM here (strictly enforced ranks, divided between enlistedmen and officers, signals of respect such as saluting compulsory, etc.) but I never knew if it was true or just a story. Kinda wish it was true. The military model is, in my humble opinion, the far superior model regarding police structure.

Interesting, thanks for the quick reply and for having this thread to begin with.

I wish there was a simple answer to your question, but its really quite complex so i will do my best. In the US, the underlying theme is civil liberties, natural human rights, and the government works for the people. To "protect and serve" if you will. Also, people will file a formal complaint against a cop for any perceived mistreatment no matter how minor it is, and every single complaint is investigated or else administrators lose their jobs. Its a very high liability profession in that regard. If you are cleared of wrongdoing, great. If not, you can get hammered. Ill give two examples.

A buddy of mine I work with who is from the DR and very clearly hispanic stopped a black man at night for a traffic infraction. The guy was beligerant and a total dick to my friend and was calling him racial slurs. My buddy had a dash cam but forgot to turn his microphone on so no audio. My buddy issued him his ticket and legit dropped the guys license on the ground by accident. The civilian told him to pick up his license but my buddy lost his cool since the guy had been such a dick and said "Pick up your own fucking license." And walked back to his patrol car and left. The guy filed a complaint against him that he was unprofessional and called him a nigger. My buddy unfortunately had forgotten to turn on his audio so there was no proof one way or another, my buddy in the investigation denied using racial slurs or being rude until he told him to "Pick up your own fucking license" which he freely admitted because hes an honest dude. He was suspended without pay for 2 weeks.

Also I shot someone back in November of 2015 and im still suspended (with pay) to administrative duties because they take officer involved shootings so seriously and the investigation isnt over. So yeah, be thankful you guys can do your job with a little more leniency lol

Well for one Israel is not exactly easy to get in to, and their Syrian border is basically NK-SK DMZ tier in terms of surveillance, even if there isn't fuckhuge minefields.

Seriously, Israel isn't exactly a vulnerable target.

Every attack on Israel would:
1- be resources that could go to their numerous fronts against Assad and friends or Kurds or Iraqis. Isis doesn't have resources out the ass. A few rifles to ship into Paris is one thing. A dramatic attack on Israel's militarized border would be completely different.
2- infuriate the Israelis. Even if it is "le merchant conspiracy" the fact is the Israelis would have to act, militarily, if isis butchered a settlement. Political heads would roll if nothing was done in retaliation, and Israel has a long history of conventional retaliation (see Gaza).

An ISIS attack on the Olympics could be a big event. Not only would it highlight their reach as an organization, it would be filmed. Over and over people could watch in horror as a suicide bomb went off or whatever. Hostages could be taken, speeches read, etc. It a COULD be bad. I'm not saying it will be a happening, but the Olympics are a phenomenol target if you are trying to say "we're here, we're STRONK"

>investigation isnt over.
>November 2015

Holy shit they're taking a long time with that.

But you know since you've said that, we're going to need to ask for the story (of course not detailed enough to fuck you over).

Also how does the aftermath feel for shooting someone? I understand everyone will be different, but I always worry if I ever shot anyone in self-defense that I'd be a total wreck for a good while after.
>>
>>30141291

Jesus Christ, how horrifying. And I thought we had it bad with Human Rights assholes breathing down our necks.

So if some drunken idiot tells you to go fuck yourself you can do nothing about it?

Look at this video, for instace:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTJSHvJG5qY

The girl is being arrested, starts to act like a bitch, yells at the cops, gets slapped, and stops. You can't even do that? What's the point of even having a police force if you're not gonna give them the authority to handle the situation how they see fit.
>>

You guys don't take any shit huh?
>>

How'd you get your dad's badge this time?
>>
>>30141361
Some people tend to fear the abuse of power if we actually could slap people as was warranted. I, personally, don't think it'd be terrible if I could slap the shit out of a belligerent suspect.

They called INSTRUCTOR SEERO to train them. This should tell you about the quality of their training. They will probably hire Cory or Vipers Academy to train them next time.

What bothers me the most about what you just described to me is that you're pratically unable to enforce respect for the institution on suspects/criminals. It's not a good message to send that one can treat a policemen as one pleases. Over here all criminals know that if they swear or threaten a cop, even if it's over facebook, they'll get beaten up. It imposes respect. I can't imagine being called a nigger and walking away like nothing happened.
>>
>>30141291
How does an investigation like that take so long?

Shouldn't it be pretty easy to say

"Gas station manager saw X leave with a 40 oz"
"Call to dispatch from witness Y saw X trying to do a B&E on a white Mazda at the corner of 5th and main"
"Officer Z responding"
"Officer Z reports belligerent X"
"Shots fired shots fired"

Then trace back Aß day from there?

That should take like a week tops
>>
>>30141384

It's not a badge, it's a batallion patch. The proff that I'm a Military Cop is on the identity card to the left of that.
>>
>>30141454
Idk wtf happened but that should say

"Trace back X's day from there"
>>
>>30141444
First off, I'm not the cop.

Second, Everybody is super butthurt about cops beating people who don't deserve and whatnot, and while I get that, it ain't like 90% of the nation's police are just rampaging through the streets. IIRC police here can only do reactionary stuff if somebody actually preforms a violent action towards them and still get shitcanned. They don't get to do a lot now that I think about it.
>>
>>30141527
>>30141444
disregard the cop part. Thanks american education system, you squeaked out another bottom-feeder.
>>
>>30141527

>Everybody is super butthurt about cops beating people who don't deserve

I've been over 10 years in the police and I've yet to see someone getting beaten up didn't have it coming to them.
>>
>>30141556
It's kinda different in the states. You ever heard of the Rodney King riots? People will find any excuse to get mad at the police and fuck shit up. Although the King beating does seem a little fucked up, but I may be misremembering it.
>>
Brigadiano, where did you learn such good english?
>>
>>30141610

My parents always valued education and, thank God, I was not from a poor family. I went to english class twice a week when I was 8 all the way to 16, then I used the internet to keep it sharp.
>>
>>30141636
your parents must be so proud that you waste your linguistic ability on deviants like us.

Polenar Tactical dropped by a few weeks ago to run a pistol course for some shooters (in Brasilia if I recall correctly), civilians and cops alike. You don't need to be a badass SOF veteran of multiple tours across the Middle East to be a competent instructor. Zero for instance is very competent, a bit of a clown character, but he teaches many valuable techniques which aren't glossed over in basic police training. And yes, the basic training is shit.
>>
>>30141636
Well good job man. Your grammar is probably better than mine at this point.
>>
>>30141350
Yeah playing the waiting game has been more demoralizing than the incident itself.

>late at night, call for service at apt complex of someone banging on a door, possible domestic situation
>get on scene, make contact with lady on sidewalk near parking lot
>2nd ofc gets on scene
>lady is upset and screaming "is he out there? Is he out there?"
>ask her to explain whats going on since it was a 3rd party caller with no info
>she points to a car about 10 ft away parked in a space and says "thats him dont let him get away!"
>dafuq.jpg
>car headlights and engine turns on
>start walking toward the car to talk to the occupant who i cant see
>car starts pulling out in reverse away from me, clearly attempting to flee
>close enough to the car that i think i can now sprint to the driver side door to yank him out before he can flee
>car reverses too fast now im in between the car and a dumpster
>stop sprinting and start to backpedal out of the way so he has a clear shot to the road to flee
>car engine revs and accelerates toward me at a very high rate of acceleration
>realize im going to get hit and theres nothing i can do and dont want to get crushed against a dumpster fuck my life
>complete and total auditory exclusion kicks in as i draw my gun and present it
>car hits me on the leg knocking me off balance
>pop pop pop pop pop pop pop
>7 rounds, struck the guy in the chest twice and face once through windshield and passenger side window
>car speeds off
>dont remember shooting and remember thinking my gun didnt work because i felt no recoil
>most intense sense of smell ive ever felt in my life, remember smelling the gun powder so intense
>scream shots fired into the radio and my hearing feels funny, like being on an airplane with the pressure changes
>still on autopilot as i reholster and ask other officer if shes ok
>>
>>30141655

My parents are gone, God rest their souls. But I have used english for much more than just to chat on /k/. Actually, one of the reasons for doing these threads is to keep my writing in good shape. Watching movies was keeping my listening/talking in check, but one day I realised that my writing was going down the shitter. For english learning/maintnance prouposes I mostly use 4chan and Omegle.

Basically perception is everything. If it looks bad, expect to lose your job. Being a cop in the US has turned into a fucking joke because of public perception.

What the fuck, the guy was clearly attempting to flee at first, then in clear eventual intent (dolo eventual, in portuguese) of murder against an agent of the State. What the fuck is there to investigate? What the fuck.

Fuck this shit. If I had to stay suspended for six months everytime some I shot some idiot that tried to kill me I'd never be a cop in the US.

Yeah it sucks. I knew it was a good shoot at the time because it was an instinctual non-conscious decision. Training took over. I was told it was a good shoot by my lawyer that morning and by the investigators from the state and my own agency, and our internal affairs guys. But they won't let me go back to patrol until all i's are dotted and t's are crossed. I was supposed to go back to patrol this week but internal affairs still isn't done. I was told our chief feels that it was a questionable shoot because i "put myself in front of the car" which isn't what happened at all, so the chief keeps stalling. All administrators here care about now is how it's going to reflect on the agency on CNN, which my shoot never made anything except local news fortunately.

Well, gentlemen, it's been a great thread, but I'm off to sleep. Tomorrow I'm off, so if anybody has any remaning questions, post them here, I'll anwser them tomorrow if it hasn't 404'd by then.

And lastly, a message for my American Policemen friend: You, sir, are a man with a golden patience and great self-control. I could never imagine myself having as much self-restraint as you do. Good luck on your daily endevours, especially dealing with the kind of people that you deal with. God bless you, sir.

And, not to tease you or anything, but if you hit someone with a baton on the soles of their feet, it won't leave any marks, even if you hit it really hard.

Just saying.

Unless you live on a favela, it's not too bad. The cost of life is relatively cheap all things considered.
>>
>>30141794
Yeah they didn't just have a dozen or so officers pick a random black guy and wail on him in the worst lottery ever, he had spent the better part of the episode running and resisting. Only the last minute was filmed really, when they are beating the fuck out of him

>>
>>30141073
>It's tough to find a real equivalent in the US
there is none. Because we don't have an american version of the gestapo, unlike HUEland. It's obviously necessary in a shithole like brazil to have a paramilitary force whose only job is to hunt down and kill active criminals.
>>
>>30141934
you gotta remember anon, in brazil the kids shoot first.
>>
>>30141695
thats a little bit cynical.

you only really have a chance of being railroaded if you've been in multiple shootings or the national media scapegoats you.

if its a good shoot then you clam up and let your lawyers and the fop do the leg work.

that and hope al sharpton is busy race baiting somewhere else at the time

There really isn't a good policy set in stone. It's needs of the officer and his/her family. I was off at home for 2 months but was trying to come back to work after 3 weeks. Couldn't get in touch with anyone and was basically forgotten about before finally I just showed up and was told to go home that I was on admin leave by my point of contact. I told him I had tried calling, emailing, and my attorney had tried as well with no response other than getting my paycheck every 2 weeks and was pissed as fuck. It was a goat rodeo. I was told "sorry" and given a new start date only to find out "oh btw youre working a desk till this is over". My shit was handled so poorly that now my agency is completely rewriting a new policy so that no one else gets fucked over like I did. Total joke. At least I havent lost any pay, Ive got a family to feed.
>>
>>30141934
Brazilian police doesn't give a fuck.
>>
>>30141361
>So if some drunken idiot tells you to go fuck yourself you can do nothing about it?
because in civilized nations the police serve the citizenry, not act as their jail guards. It's inconceivable for police to act like you do in the US; people hate the police because they are ineffective at anything but writing traffic citations. if they were ineffective AND ended every public interaction with violence cops would start getting murdered faster than a alabama coon in 1930.
>inb4 but retaliatory violence and balkanization of the police and citizenry would be bad
exactly, which is why it won't happen due to a policed police force and the US being a first world country.
