One of the biggest... guidelines in Defence is that you should always try to resort things at at the lowest level first, then work your way up only if necessary.
Generally, the ideal order would be:
1. Speak to the 2 guys in question, see if they can't resolve it themselves.
1.5. If it seems applicable, a psych or chaplain may be appropriate (for example, if one of the guys picked the fight because his wife left him and he's just pissed at life).
2. Speak to your SNCO, he may have some insight or tips, but generally you should still be the one to do the resolving. Unless your SNCO is incompetent and hates his job, you shouldn't really bother speaking to other guys in the squad or your NCOs; that's just a waste of time as it can be seen as going behind your SNCO and he/she should have a stronger relationship with the guys and gals.
3. Speak to your peers - anyone lower than you in rank is not your mate, neither is anyone above you in rank, your peers are your true friends and have similar responsibilities.
4. As a last resort, speak to your boss to get guidance; the reason this is last is because it takes time away from your boss and it indicates that you can't do your job (though if you're a fresh SBLT dealing with a guy who's secretly been banging the other guy's daughter or something then perhaps it's understandable).
Also, if you're seeing your boss, the golden rule is to approach them not just with your problem, but also some solutions you've already devised; don't come to them empty handed and with a dumb look on your face.

It is possible to work well with your colleagues and not be a gigantic asshole without being their mate, you can be really friendly (just not touchy friendly) if you want, but if you allow that, you also have to be prepared or able to sit on the other side of a desk from them and give them a scathing report or disciplinary action when they fail to perform or just outright fuck up.

Another example is that you should encourage them to have parties or whatever, and even come along to those parties, but leave after like the second drink and let them get white girl wasted without you. Your same-rank peers and civi friends are the ones that you get wasted with.
Ultimately, you have to try and be as awesome a boss (be sufficiently social, deal with their problems, push for fun and safe things in the workplace, showcase their achievements to your boss, etc) so that when you have to fuck them over (either for being shitheads or because command needs someone to do a shitty job), they'll be understanding and willing enough that they'll "forgive" you.
