The budget cuts started in the 90's way before mass immigration. It was a way for governments to finance useless government projects that they could always fund by slashing defense budget because since the soviet union is no more no one will notice that we're crippling the armed forces to the point it can't function anymore.
Biggest problem we have imo is fortifikationsverket. Just like akademiska hus it's a cancerous creation spawned by retarded economists. The idea that one government corporation should own facilities and rent them to the armed forces for a market price (with a requirement to make a profit) is the dumbest thing in history. New public management is AIDS.
Let the armed forces own the facilities they use. Universities too.

It's the neo-liberal idea that governments are ineffective, wasteful and can't make a profit. So therefore they confiscated the land from universities and the armed forces and turned them into corporations (who need to make a profit).
So universities and the armed forces actually rent the building they built over 100 years ago and have to pay market prices for them because the government owned landlords have to be competitive with the private sector.

Many countries do this. It's absolutely shit when it comes to the armed forces and education though. Because they end up giving them insanely high costs for property which leaves them little money left for operations. The money they pay go right back to the government too. So if they say they're paying a certain amount of money to universities and defense then that includes a lot of money that they'll just put right back in their pockets. Classic political bullshit, saying they'll increase the budget when they're just pocketing it as income.

The forces in Europe are a trip wire, everyone knows Russia would take what it wanted in the beginning and then it would be a few weeks before the allies were able to start the counter offensives. The guys up front are just supposed to slow things down.
