What are some decent ar15 build parts? Lowers and Uppers. Brands that aren't gonna run me 2000+ just for an upper. There's so many different makers now I'm having a hard distinguishing between the good ones and the startups.

This. I have a 20" BCM upper that was everything I wanted. Getting an 18" SS140 upper now. I just wish they offered the ion bond black coating for 18" uppers, it doesn't seem they do.

There are only really three options you'll even find:
7075 T6 Aluminum, the strongest, and most common
6061 T6 Aluminum, softer, not as common
And polymer, rare, but super easy to make lowers with.
