What's Delta really like? What are the actual qualifications like? You hear that 70% of the people who try out are Rangers and SEALs, yet only ~10 out of 200+ each year make it in.
What are their missions like? Also, I'd really appreciate if anyone has pictures like the ones of Vining to post them.
I'm Canadian and waiting for my medical to clear before I get sent to bootcamp. I was hoping in 5 years or so I'd be able to look into some special forces stuff. I know you can take the Ranger courses as a Canadian, but I doubt you'd be able to try out for Delta.

My experience with this sort of thing is decades out of date, but it's experience regardless and I'm feeling in a typing mood.

It's the premier special forces organisation of the US Army. It's built on the model of 22 SAS.

I have no idea what they specifically qualify in, but I could probably make a good guess. However, I do know that special forces training is, by and large, a continuation of the sort of skills that soldiers have picked up over their career. The main training and tuition principles are the same as in any Infantry unit; fitness, awareness, calmness and mental capacity. Obviously the requirements are higher, but the core skills are the same. They are not superman. They're simply very well disciplined, trained and led soldiers.
Specific qualifications and courses will be carried out. There will be specialist courses and standardised courses. The standardised ones (marksmanship, heavy weapons usage, basic demolitions, climbing, hunting, some basic foreign language skills in something currently relevant) will be carried out in larger groups whereas specialist courses will be taken by smaller groups, or even individual soldiers.

Any figure you read on this is likely to be fabricated to meet a wider point, or just for the sake of making it up. Some years they'll have lots of passes. Some they will have very few, or in the case of 22 SAS they had a year with no passes at all. There isn't a magic number. I'm also fairly certain that even if you pass, they don't have to take you.

You don't even know if you like soldiering yet. If that's your intention then that's down to you, but I would keep that sort of thing very quiet until you're in a position to actually apply.
