I live in a cucked country where owning pic related is impossible, however, through word of mouth I heard people have been buying airsoft guns and scrapping the internals and replacing them with ruger 10/22 internals essentially making the 10/22 into whatever gun they want. Now my question is: is this safe? I know plinkers aren't that powerful but I had an airsoft gun in highschool and they didn't feel very solid. After a little research I found out that they make pic related in airsoft but with a full metal body, should I do it? What precautions should I take? Is there parts of the gun I should reinforce in the garage some how? Thanks.

That sounds like the kind of thing a noguns would say to other noguns to seem hasguns. If anything I'd say that people are just finding shells that simply fit over a standard 10/22, I've heard of people doing something similar with toy guns & pocket pistols.

I'm pretty sure that someone makes a .22LR MP5 copy, you may as well get that instead of dicking around with toys.

I own an sks. But that's besides the point.
Nobody makes 22lr clones of that where i live which is the whole reason I made this thread.

Not him, but

Hey /k/,

I just bought a sig romeo5 red dot about a week ago.

Today I tried turning it on and it just won't.

I was thinking maybe it's the battery that died but I've had several Walmart brand red dots and they haven't killed original batteries yet. So how can this be?

Do higher end red dots kill their batteries faster or should they have even longer lasting run times? I would imagine the latter depending on functions/features.

One week seems way too fast to kill a battery.

Maybe I got a faulty model?

I'm about to go to a store to buy a new battery to see if that fixes the problem but id like to hear what you have to say

I shoot pistols left handed, and rifles right handed. With the pistol, my shots always go down and to the right, fairly considerably. With the rifle, it's mirrored and down and to the right.

I've seen lefthanded charts facing both directions and have no clue what the fuck is going on. If I'm shooting down and right lefthanded, and down and left righthanded, what am I doing?

The phrase "jerking or slapping the trigger" makes no sense to me. I try to have a smooth trigger pull.

What they do is that they just essentially put a 10/22 into the airshit body, barrel and action. The airshit body is just a shell and should handle any recoil 22lr throws at it, unless it's made out of paper mache or something.

I personally think it's gay, especially the work arounds that are required for the ejection port, magazine well, and tirgger. Do you you want though

I'm in the market for a new rifle. But I'm torn between a few, and can't make up my mind. right now I am saving up for a Zastava M76, which fits a bunch of my criteria, and a few of the bonus conditions. Problem is, I'm a broke college student, and my budget is smallish, so I need suggestions.
I need something with the following:
Main features:
Can be made into commiefornia legal
Good for long range-ish shooting (DMR range, at least 1MOA-ish on an average day with good ammo, comes with or can be equipped with a scope)
Bonus:
C&R or old
Wood and Metal a e s t h e t i c
Has history in a conflict
Cheap-ish round (my other gat is 8mm Mauser, so I'm willing to go up to that price).

Does anyone have opinions between the M&P Shield and Ruger LC9s? Was debating picking up the Shield for a while, but might not now due to a recommendation from a local gunsmith who has been seeing problems with them as well as hearing of problems from other friends within the firearms community.

Only thing I don't like is the magazine disconnect, but despite that how would you compare the two?

Alternatively, any other recommendations for a ccw that is subcompact, single-stack, chambered in 9mm, and has a manual thumb safety? Won't budge on the above mentioned criteria.

If you don't know please don't try to answer a question.

There is no way or reason to decock a striker fired handgun. There is no way to COCK one for that matter. That is the point, the trigger pull is the same every time. I guess if it helps you, picture the gun as "cocked" all the time, even when empty. The only thing racking the slide accomplishes in a weapon like this is chambering a round.

So to answer the first anon, all you have to do is drop the mag, and rack the slide to eject the unfired round. No need to dryfire.

To the second anon: lurk moar regarding the differences between DA/SA and striker fired. Hint: one has a hammer, bud.

A good habit to develop is to do it right after each range trip.

A proper firearm CAN go a long time without being cleaned, but you don't want to push a gun to it's limits if you're not on a battlefield.

Depends, I usually take my time doing it because to me it's an enjoyable activity. Shouldn't take you longer than 20 minutes though.

Picking up my sig mpx tomorrow.

Ordering a hi power from aim friday. Now I am just sitting here thinking of what to buy next month.

I'm considering a makarov.
Came here hoping for suggestions on interesting firearms in the 600 range. Cold war arms get a plus.

do you have a Garand?
Fills the extreme early part of the Cold War niche, is a shit ton of fun, will only gain in value when the CMP runs out, and is cheaper than an M14 copy.
>>
>>30141205
No I don't. That and and a M-14 is on the list along with the other usual suspects. Fal, G3.

Thought I would treat this like jeopardy and buy all the <600 stuff before moving to the 1000 category.
>>
>>30141240
Prioritize the Garand. CMP is going to run out sooner rather than later, and once they're out of the picture the market will start at $1500 for shot out rusty mixmasters.
and also they are hilariously fun to shoot with the Garand Gear plug.

Why are gunspergs so autistic about non-gun people using the term "clip" instead of magazine?

It's a colloquialism at this point and you know what they fucking mean anyway.
>>
>>30141644
I'm generally more lenient towards non-gun people, because they don't know any better.

I do have a problem with experienced shooters using that term, though. I'm talking people with years or decades of experience. Some of them are (ex-)military.

get something that you get a lot of options with, like a 1911
the aftermarket is massive and it's a lot more justifiable to get a few neat upgrades than whole other guns if you only want one right now

Why is the Carcano rifle considered by many to be an atrocious if not objectively the worst bolt rifle to partake in the world war(s?)?

Memes aside please.
>>
>>30142412
Have you got that image in a smaller size? Thanks
>>
>>30142475
Fudds would buy them and shorten the barrel to make them better hunting rifles.
They didn't realize that Carcanos utilized a progressive rifling design, which meant the barrel was ruined if you cut off the last bit. Exacerbating this problem, most every commercial ammunition manufacturer used an undersized bullet for 6.5 Carcano- only milsurp ammo really worked with the original barrel.

Also, the lube available to the Italians in the Eastern theater really was not up to the conditions- very similar to problems the Germans were having with K98s. But really, they were well designed and manufactured rifles.

What do heat shields do? Do they make them for many shotguns? What is the difference between a heat shield and barrel shroud?
>>
>>30142942
They protect your fingies from burning as much
heat shields are typically directly on the barrel, whereas a barrel shroud protrudes around it and, obviously, doesn't absorb as much heat from the barrel
also heat shields are typically on shotguns (yes, they're quite common and you could just make it yourself) and older machine guns
whereas a barrel shroud is whats usually on modern AR-15's

as long as you're not considering CCWing it, sure

where handguns are concerned, any semiautomatic compact or full size that isn't a piece of shit is a fine first gun
>>

Huh? You have to chamber a round somehow on any gun in order to ready it to fire, and on basically every semiautomatic pistol, that involves racking the slide at some point.

Striker-fired guns are basically always "ready" otherwise. The way you make one unready is by putting the safety on or removing the ammunition.

Sticky is outdated. Look into a Taurus PT111 Millenium G2. Good gun for $250. Don't listen to the Taurus haters this pistol is as good as a stock Glock. Rumor has it that Glock engineers actually worked with Taurus on this pistol, If you compare them they're remarkably similar. Flawless reliability and it takes Sig 226 mags. Carries as well as a Glock 26, but can be used effectively for nightstand duty when paired with a streamlight tlr-3, and a 20 Sig magazine. Buy it and you won't regret it.
