I don't carry it currently.
It is a lightly used police trade in from Germany.
It came in the original box with paperwork that had been packed into the police armory in 1988.
The little bit of wear in that picture is all that's on the gun, and the frame rails are nearly completely black.
Damn thing doesn't look like it was carried much let alone shot often.

>all the sigshills ITT blaming lack of maintenance
I've had my Glock submerged for 30 minutes and let it air dry afterwards. Not a spec of rust on any of the internals. A $1000 handgun that's main selling point is an anti-corrosion coating should NEVER rust unless under the most extreme circumstances. Meanwhile a $550 Glock comes essentially rust-proof as the factory standard.

Inb4 someone replies with a pic of a rusted Glock that sat in a tank of water for a week or got submerged in saltwater. Conditions that make a Glock rust are conditions that would make a Mk25 disintegrate into iron oxide powder.
>>
All of the fucking fanboyism in this thread is disgusting. We can post pictures all day of guns that werent maintained properly or have had dumb shit like over torquing screws and firing a round when the barrel is blocked but in the end none of it means shit.

You can google and find any firearm from any brand exploded or rust covered in seconds. All guns fail and all guns get owned by absolute morons that cant grasp the first concept about firearm care.

I dont give a flying fuck if you like sig or glock or savage or HK or taurus or any other manufacturer. They all have made lemons and they WILL ALL RUST when not cared for properly.

Sure, but some guns will rust easier than others, because they use steel more prone to rusting with surface finishes that aren't as good as others.

Example: Sig and Kimber.

Example to the contrary: Glock and HK.

Pic is same gun. Caption: "Only flaw in finishing. How's that for a tight fit!"

From his review:
>The Talon fed all of the ammo. But that's not to say there weren't a few problems. On two or three occassions, the slide hesitated to go into battery with the MagTech and the reloads. A little nudge to the rear of the slide rectified this and, after a while, the problem seemed to go away. The next issue was that a few of the hardball rounds nosed dived and hung up on the frame born feed ramp, locking the slide open. I attribute this to the gun not having been cleaned prior to shooting. If I had to do it over again, I think I'd clean the gun before shooting it. This issued became more prevelant as the session wore on. It probably happened five times or so. Usually, when I would sling shot a round into the chamber. Oddly, not when I simply released the slide stop. The last problem was that my Wilson 10 round mag twice locked the slide open on the take down notch and not on the slide stop notch. But this only happened with this one magazine. In all, the pistol functioned just fine. I expect my next shooting session to be malfunc free.

>>In all, the pistol functioned just fine

There's nothing wrong with exeter sigs.

Yes, HK is better than either variety.

Yes, glock 19 is the only pistol anyone should carry.

Yes, 1911s are the most enjoyable gun to shoot.

Yes, AK's are uncomfortable and operating them stock requires you to bow down like a subhuman slav.

Yes, AR's and their progeny are the most reliable and require you to stand tall and proud like any proper westerner should.

>the only part "rusting" is the mainspring

>the only part "rusting" is the hammer pin

Honestly, these look more like QC fuck ups combined with negligent owners. Exeter Sigs are very corrosion-resistant. The slide and barrel are made of stainless steel, and the type of finish they use is more rust-proof than parkerizing and more durable than cerakote. The whole "Sigs rust" meme came from West German Sigs, which had slides made of blued carbon steel. If you mistreat blued steel, then yeah, of course it's going to rust.

>$80 mags
They are like $25-30.
>mediocre DA/SA trigger
It's really not. The double action pull is maybe a pound heavier than a broken in Sig, but it has a surprisingly crisp release and very little overtravel. The single action trigger has just a little bit of creep, but again has very little overtravel and a short reset. I'm not going to say that there aren't better DA/SA triggers out there - the Sig P-series is the only one that comes to mind - but if you can't shoot a USP well, it's not because of the trigger.

>stupid paddle mag release
I can agree here, to an extent, but this is really a matter of training. The HK style mag releases are meant to be depressed with your index finger, not your thumb. Once you figure that out, everything makes a lot more sense and the gun will work much more efficiently for you.

>Owners agree ZERO failures and quality is something ya pay the price

I own two USP Compacts and I would not agree. My 9mm had a failure the first time I shot it, although it hasn't ever jammed since then so it was likely due to not being broken in. My .40 has never jammed, but it has failed to lock the slide back on the last round a few times and I'm very good at keeping my thumb off the slide release. These would be great $600 guns, which probably explains why they sell for that little on the used market. For the $900 I paid for each one, they were way overpriced, but no other handgun had exactly what I wanted in a carry gun, so that's what I paid for them.

Game time: I'm not even an apologist, I don't like Sigs. But get your complaints right. Poor MIM castings can be a problem, as in >>30117112 but it's quite rare and Sig does replace these failures (after "two weeks").

These are all problems that ALL current manufacturers face, and most of these problems can affect older guns too.

Uhhhhh. Walthers make for pretty good carry guns. They tend towards a slim profile with small form factor. My one gripe is the fucking mag release. But that can be adjusted to with training and after market parts.

If you want, replace those gripscrews and get hogue hexscrews. They don't mar as much as the factory sig ones. And if you're very anal, put some lube on the threads so it doesn't wear out the aluminum threads on the frame.

And if you want to go even more autism like Bruce Gray, get some milcomm tw25b or lucas white lithium grease and put it on contact areas like the trigger bar, small hole on the trigger's hinge etc. I don't really bother doing this but with an Exeter Sig, greasing the rails is required of anything.

What kind of shiny spots are we speaking about? Frame rail wear?

They make gun screwdriver sets for armorers that you're supposed to use, regardless of the make. You screwed up using an angled screwdriver, sorry dude.
Also, my legion had some light patch areas when I opened the case but a spot of oil made them disappear. The Nitron finish apparently holds oil similar to how parkerizing does except it's a much better finish.

Bitch no are you retarded?

You always ALWAYS loctite grip screws. Unless you want that shit backing out every couple rounds

Steel fasteners won't fucking "wear out" aluminum threads unless you're reinstalling them a million times, or overtorquing them like some hick retard

Can't let that buyer's regret set in, huh? God forbid you save a little more money and buy a gun you won't hate looking at.

I'm a poorfag too, but I know how to make a good purchase. Being poor is supposed to help you make informed monetary decisions, not make you jump on every good "deal". You can find images of every gun under the sun rusting or breaking. That doesn't mean your Kel-Tec isn't a piece of shit.

Literally 90% of people I've talked to who do IPSC.

Having your grips come loose is the last thing you want in the middle of a competition.
>>
>>30129351
Never happened once.

This is on the level of driveway battlewear and dremel barrel fluting.
>>
>>30129200
>>30129351

My 1911 grip screws start to back out after a few hundred rounds, but I think that's because the VZ grips i recently put on it are so much thicker, and so the screws ride high above the grips.

With the wraparound hogues that were previously on the same gun for 20+ years? I never once had a screw back out even in the slightest.

Depends maybe on your grips i guess is what i'm saying.
>>
>>30129824
>Depends maybe on your grips i guess is what i'm saying.

Yeah, rubber grips retain fastener clamping force after repeated impulses better.

When you have something like g10 or hardwood grips it's a good idea to use Loctite if you don't want to use locking washers and fuck up your expensive grips.

the inner parts seem to already have white lithium grease on them so I just let it be. and as for shiny spots the outside was fine as soon as I took the slide off near the rear was a big shiny spot that seemed to not even be coated. and on the inner part of the rail looked like a tiny spot weld that had a hole, but may be part of how its put together. all in all i'am using it as a carry gun anyway so i'am pretty happy with it regardless.
>>30125443
yeah I figured. I used a leatherman screwdriver and the screw seemed very easy to chip thoughi'am not really writing home about it.
also this all happened when I was cleaning it the finish does seem to hold ballistol very well and cleaned it up a bit.

but anyways thanks for the help/advice guys I thought for a minute I had a snowflake I guess not

I'm sure g10 is in fact rubber. Not even going all ass burgers on you but don't understand why what you're saying wouldn't apply to g10?
>>
>>30130394
G10 is laminated fiberglass fabric impregnated with epoxy. It's very rigid and not like rubber at all.

Apparentally it's called "band" rubber and is what's used on conveyor belts like at the grocery store. I've also seen it thicker and used as scales on a knife handle. It was really nice for that.
>>
>>30130394

G10 is a fiberglass epoxy composite.

It's ultra hard, think glass-like but with texture.
>>
>>30111854
Should have gone with a bronze sword...sure it's a spfter material, and needs constant repair and sharpening, but it'battle proven and cheaper.
>>
maybe you guys can help me out here if anyone is still in the thread
Got a P226 MK25, and getting rust buildup on the slide serrations, trigger, grip screws, one side of my rear sight, mag release and slide release levers

Haven't been shooting it a lot in the last 2 months but I still clean it at least every month even it just sitting in the safe.

Is this normal thing that just happens if you don't clean it all the time after handling it occasionally, or a QC issue? only had it about 5 months.
>>
>>30132655
Just lightly oil it. Sig's grip screws do tend to rust.

Still, it's bullshit if it does rust. Do you have silica packets inside your safe?
>>
>>30132681
>silica
No, I actually just thought about that, will have to go get some.
But cheers /k/omrade
>>
>>30132655

Sig's main issue is their metallurgy, not their surface treatments. Which aren't fantastic, but when it comes to something like a firearm the best surface treatments in the world can't keep improper steel from rusting.

So no, it's not a QC issue. It's just how they are.

Marketing.

I mean, don't get me wrong they're generally good guns but they are *extremely* overrated and overpriced due to their history. I usually hate when people say that, but I genuinely feel it's the case here.

Idunno if they're EXTREMELY overrated. Maybe one or two hundred dollars overpriced, but I honestly believe they make some of the best DA/SA hammer handguns on the market.

Sig is just reluctant to change anything.

They've used the same steel for their slides for the past million years and are reluctant to change just because it's worked so well for them (minus rust issues) so far.

But metallurgy has come a LONG way in the past 20 years and there's absolutely no fucking need to compromise between toughness/hardness/fatigue cycle performance/etc and corrosion resistance anymore.
>>
Are Sig 1911 prone to rusting as well?
>>
>>30132978
SIG is like...

Talking the classic series, they're like an Italian sports car or that really hot chick with daddy issues; an amazing ride but deeply flawed.
I mean you have to grease the rails, keep them oiled and they're fine so it's not that bad and they shoot like a dream, they feel great but maybe you're not an exotic sports car kind of guy, maybe you just want Honda civic and am understanding woman. That's okay, that's why they make the 320, or just get a Glock.

Why would you use kek instead of lol? Think about it. It doesn't mean anything, its just the modification of the actual acronym lol. You don't even know why you use it. Somewhere, sometime you saw a few people post it and hopped right on board. Too mainstream for lol right? Thats so old, its meaning makes sense but you don’t feel comfortable expressing your approval of things on the internet with the common old "lol" thats been around for so long. You'll man up and use the purposely misspelled version with no discernible humor or purpose besides making you look like a complete idiot while you maintain the false concept that other people find it amusing or appropriate and using purposely misspelled words shows the world that you’re not afraid of anything and are part of some grand inside joke that no one finds funny. Theres a lot going through your head, but you realize that I’m right. You will try though, to get the best of this exchange. What are you going to go for? Newfag? Summer? Oh damn, there are so many options to choose from. An implication that I'm underage perhaps? That’s always fresh. Maybe you'll just shut down. I think you should go with something about “butthurt” or being mad or even comment on the length of the unproportionally long comment that so swiftly brought to your attention that you are a faggot that tries oh so hard to fit in. Careful though, is this even “OC”? Tsk tsk. Hard to say, don’t want to get embarrassed anon. I'm sure you could find some grammar or spelling errors as a last resort. I cant wait, Its always fun playing insult roulette. Fucking idiot!
