ADF wouldn't take me on accounts of my asthma and I'm terrible in all forms of interviews, studied up on the role I was applying for, for months, come interview day, mind wiped, told me to come back in a year when I'm more prepared and my asthma is doing better, it's been almost 2 years now, might as well kms..

The tide is changing /k/omandos. Notice how the media is shilling the nogunz line on a daily basis? That's because they know they are losing. It's just another example of the Greens bias we are seeing.

I think we could see rimfire self-loaders legalised in the next 2 years. Not in the People's Republic of Victoria or WA, but maybe in NSW or the NT.

Speaking of which, did anyone else see the other threads essays? One was sent to Leyonhjelm.

They really are

During Op resolute about 7 of them were assigned our vessel for our whole sting, which was 2 months defence watches.

A Sargent was staying in the cabin adjacent to ours. He came in one day and started talking about how your fat cells get stuck to your towels if they haven't been washed.

He got out a lighter and said "Look, don't believe me?" and lit a fellow seamans towel on fire, it went up in flames.

It's OK, cause the guys he did it to was an absolute cunt.

Darwin's not that bad when you look back at it. The isolation isn't that bad, and now you can travel to Asia without any restrictions it's pretty good.

Sucks if you've got family elsewhere or kids in school though.
>>
>>30110941
Yeah the H-harness just seems to be designed to be as incompatible as possible. I've been playing around with the idea of getting one of those SORD LBVs with the D-rings.

Then I can just chuck some fastex clips onto pack and the D-rings so I can just clip it onto either one depending on my needs. Will take a bit of fiddling. I tend not to need much space for pers shit anyway, so I may as well put the outside of my pack to use.

But it's not. It's owned by the French.

There is no advantage whatsoever to propping up a company with subsidies only for it to produce poor quality equipment that's 10 years behind everyone else for double the cost.

>>
>>30111259

>>
>>30111250
Haha don't panic, bro. It'll be a good ex. Up in the Bay atm, stealing whatever ceppo I can.

Also, fuck off the Mystery Ranch gear. It's expensive and doesn't do anything better than a Platatac ALICE with Tac Tailor frame, belt and pads does. Save yourself $400.

Buy a belt rig. And a chest rig. And a fuckton of pouches. Modify them according to what environment and task you're heading into. I've five-odd rigs like most blokes and chop and change accordingly. If you're staying in the game, it's worth it.
>>
>>30111280
You MikeFoxtrot?
>>
>>30111285
You wouldn't shoot your pistol at least 6 times a year?

I guess I'm lucky in that my club isn't too strict on what defines a competition. E.g. we'll just setup some bowling pins and say you have 20 rounds to get as many hits as a competition.

>>30111290
The front part unlocks and slides open, accessory rail slides into the front part, then pull back together and the back part holds against the back of the grip. It's very sturdy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUURmO2Ih5A

2:10 in that video shows how it unlocks.

They are all 2560x1440, so I will just use the rightmost one for a video normally.

Its a great setup for doing any real sort of computer work like CAD or video editing.

Not the greatest for games but it works full screen you just learn to not see the fuckhuge bezels. Makes for easy sniping with low mag scopes though since I can see the tiny little details in the distance that a single 1080P screen will render into a couple of pixels.

Lone Wolf make a long ported barrel.

http://www.hyperfire.com.au/handgun-3/barrels/lone-wolf-barrel-m19-9mm-extended-2-port-124mm

I use it for IPSC minor open, totally super competitive in that setup as well :D (I actually just shoot prod div at proper comps, but its fun for fuck around comps that dont matter). I eventually want to get a aftermarket trigger, magwell, extended mag release and a lonewolf slide with a red dot on it.
>>
>>30111406
I ordered the Lone Wolf 9" barrel for my G17 in >>30111259

What state are you in? QLD you simply can't get a G19 due to the overall length unless it's for a security Cat H.
>>
>>30111386
Forgot to reply to circuit judge question.

Yes its a .44 Mag one.

Its a fun way to burn $5 in two seconds.
>>
>>30111410
Very nice. If a 44mag one popped up on usedguns I'd consider getting one. Though I'd be more inclined in getting a Henry Big Boy in 44mag.
>>
>>30111409
QLD :-).

So I assure you, you can. You just have to get a longer barrel for it.

I have had it for ages now as well, coppers have done a safe inspection without even paying it any attention. Though the bloke was a bit astounded I had the Circuit Judge, an Adler, a WFA1 and a Charger.
>>
>>30111416
Niiiice. Though they don't make the Hera chassis for the G19 so I probably wouldn't bother getting one.

What is the .22?
>>
>>30111415
They are kind of average as far as accuracy goes. And by average I actually mean totally shithouse, a bigboy in .44 Mag would be a better gun hands down. But if you want something to quickly shoot pigs at 25 meters with then the Circuit Judge will work.
>>
>>30111423
Not him, but Ruger Charger.

Basically a 10/22 receiver with a 10" barrel and a cut-down stock from factory.
>>
>>30111423
Which one?

There are 5 .22s in that picture.

Handguns

Ruger Charger
Walther P22Q

Rifles

Lithgow 1B
Sportco (forget which model)
CZ452 (had borrowed it off my old man when the photo was taken as its his gun, back at his house now, he is going to give it to me though just at some point in the future when I get around to putting a PTA in)
>>
>>30111422
Thats a fair call, I was tempted to throw the barrel in a G26 as it would work and get that instead. But it might be pushing the boundaries a bit too much.

How accurate is this? I've heard the same thing from like a dozen different people (some of these guys were incredibly high ranking as well, one of which was even sent to the US to be an Australian advisor during the Iraq war to the Pentagon and he has photos of him hanging out with people like Donald Rumsfield and everything, he in fact was the most scathing of the military) when I said that I was thinking about joining defence.

I doubt they turned you down because you are autistic, I have had friends join who are the most socially awkward nerdlords in existence and they accepted them, but gave them positions that weren't on the ground but instead logistics, intel etc.

One of the reasons they might be palming you off is because they don't think you will fit in well with Infantry. That's actually the price you pay for strangling your small arms industry in its bed. I mean it was a gun designed so that even African oogaboogas could build it and the Bongs screwed it up so bad they had to pay the Volkswagen people to fix it!
>>
>>30111732
Hey there are only like two or three hundred people in the whole ADF, of course they all know each other.
>>
>>30111705
Hah, know people who have been kicked out of the army for being complete and total fucking wackjobs.

Someone I knew was kicked out after he started having full field of vision psychotic episodes. Literally just kicked him out into public without support or anything.

Finally threw him into a loony bin after he started posting classified information on his blog (which has been taken down)

How Defence treats some vets is fucking atrocious. I've got a friend who suffers from severe PTSD from Afghanistan and they won't give him fucking anything in terms of support.

That being said, I know a few people who were complete and utter violent psychos who were accepted as grunts no problem. (and by complete psychos as in, these people should be in prison or an instituion)

From a friend who can speak several languages, has several degrees and a masters and when he enlisted for Infantry, they apparently like grabbed him straight away and went "WTF you doing nigger?" and put him in some intelligence corp of some sort.

This is what he said when I saw him like a year ago (he is sent all over the world now):
"My corp are cherry picked from the best and brightest that recruit, there are only like 150 of us, guess how many people I work with have any form of higher education outside of ADFA? 20%"
I was like "Well ADFA is higher education"
he responded
"ADFA is the higher education equivalent of a week long TAFE course and only teaches incompetent teenagers and young adults to become incompetent egotistical fuckwits who think they are king shit when they are in reality dumber and less experienced than your average grunt. All ADFA officers and cadets know is how to boss around and pretend to be smarter than people who are better than them"

I was laughing so hard. the sheer disdain he had in his voice.

But anyway, the army sure probably has very smart people in it, but the point is most people don't go into it with degrees.

Degree is more required for DOD, ASIO, ASIS, DSD etc.

Had this happen to 2 dudes on my course one lasted all of a week before DORing and looked like a younger ivan milat. The other was some iraqi dude who threatened to shoot people and was just generally a creepy shit fight.

This guy is right. It's almost a requirement to have some sort of autism for intel and certain technical jobs.

I want to learn how to into tacticool, but I don't want to join the reserves (and if they did they'd probably put me in a role I didn't want to be in).

Is there any way to teach myself how to fight?

what do they do in the interviews? no one has told me yet
(also what would it like getting an interview for the air force)

I had one dude snap and say he was going to kill us all with his bayonet out field just like in serbia. He got taken away for a chat but reappeared 2 days later and is still in for all I know.

>>30112000
In my interview he basically just tried his hardest to paint me as a sperg.

>Do you have any friends?
>Do you hang out with them in the library?
>Do you talk about mechanisms with them?
etc.

Suffice to say, I didn't get the job. When someone's asking questions like "do you have any friends", you know they don't take yes for an answer.

I had one bloke freak out on a night nav exercise when someone asked him to do a sitrep. He pushed one bloke over, knicked the 152 and called for Sunray to come and grab him because his life was being threatened. When his CPL answered on the radio instead and demanded he do X, Y, Z. He flipped and ran into the scrub. 2 hours later the MP's and some weary, pissed off full tracks eventually caught the cunt. Needless to say, a lot of fucked in the head cunts make it through initial screening

It was fucking horrible. I was trying to show that I'm a normal well-adjusted person, but he just wasn't having any of it.
And when they're asking nothing but questions like that, you fucking clam up too and don't know how to respond.

I'm glad I didn't get it, frankly. If the military's full of guys like him then I don't want anything to do with it.

You piss into a receptacle.
They ask about your personal life, what you know about your preferential roles, your previous employment, quals, etc.
You do a screening test and any additional testing required by your preferences.
They give you a medical to see that you aren't physically fucked or fat.
Then they psych eval you, which is essentially "ARE U MENTALLY STABLE? Y/N"

RAAF here im happy to answer some questions.

As for interviews everyone (except officer's they have the additional step of having to write essays and go in front of a selection panel.) goes through the same process of basically.

>ring DFR 13 19 01
>get booked into a YOU session which is basically an IQ test to see what roles you're smart enough for
>an NCO (normally a cpl) form any service will then talk to you about what jobs you might be interested in
>you then get given a case manager who rings you a couple time to org anise your formal assessment and run through stuff you'll need to know
>assessment day consistent of a medical examination and an interview about your medical history with a doctor
> psych eval who will ask you general questions about your upbringing, friends, family, schooling, any history of drug/criminal/mental illness and reason for wanting to join the ADF
> After that you have an interview with an assessing officer (normally a snco for branch you want to join but not always) who will ask you question about basic training, employment training, your role and where you might get posted, the ADF in general and again your reasons for wanting to join.
>if you're successful here they'll send you to get a blood test done fro STI's
>after that it's time to get booked in for your fitness assessment. You get a practice fitness test and then a month later the real thing.
>once that's all taken care of you should have you enlistment day organized.

Expect the who process to take 6-12 months, more if you want an in demand or low intake job (lot of people take 2 and 4-5 years isn't unheard of).

Got in as a RAAF ENGO, but dropped out:

YOU session interviews are about whether you know what you're applying for and you're happy with that choice. They also do basic aptitude testing.

Assessment day has you interviewed by a WO1 / CPO / FSGT about what you know about the ADF, how dedicated you are, how you'd resolve a fictional combat scenario when you're thrust into the position of OIC.
You also get a psych interview, where they look for family abuse and problems that could be lurking there, as well as any suicidal tendencies and also what you would think and feel about having to kill a woman and/or child; in particular, what justification you would find appropriate.
There's also a medical and some additional skills / knowledge testing.

Officer selection board has you perform a 2 or 3 minute speech about a specified topic on leadership, they're really strict about the speech length as well, you have something like a 20 or 30 second acceptable length window. You also get a random question, in my case, what the difference between a C-130 and C-17 is (surprisingly most people couldn't or barely could answer that one).
You also do a group exercise with other people at the OSB (they're all applying for a similar or identical position as you); we were given a fictional survival scenario. They're looking for who can both lead and follow, who pipes in with knowledge, etc.
You then finally have a 1 hour interview with a board of 3 people: one is an officer in your specialisation you're applying for, one is just an officer in charge of managing the board and the third is a psych. The specialist asks you about your knowledge in that field, why you want to take up that role, etc. The OIC talks about general defense stuff, asks similar questions to the WO1 back in assessment day, the psych asks some of the same questions as the original psych, but is probing more for sociopath traits rather than psychopathic traits.

>>
>>30112190
Probably; you'd need to be off them for months or, more likely, years to confirm that you're not a suicide risk.
>>
>>30112177
get your tonsils removed anon.

or, alternatively, exercise more and use screens less.
>>
>>30112190
> when i ask if i have friends and talk about military aviation with them?

They shouldn't ask that question.

It'll be more about "what do you do in your spare time", "what do you do when you hang out with your mates", "how many close friends do you have" and stuff like that. They will ask you if you've discussed your decision to Join the ADF with friends and family and how they feel about it.

As far as antidepressants are concerned i don't know depends on how long ago and the reasons surrounding them.
>>
>>30112210
Tell them you post about mechanisms on /k/.
>>
>>30112187

No, full body convulsions including leg kicks, abdomen/chest spasm, jaw clenching. Doctor said it was like I was literally being kicked awake all night long.

>>30112205

Tonsils removed???

I exercise a lot already, what would looking at screens less do exactly?
>>
>>30112190
If you mention that you discuss military aviation with friends, you need to do a few things:

1. You need to own it and if necessary, have an 'agree to disagree' attitude towards their response.
2. You should indicate (without sounding like you're contradicting yourself) that you understand OPSEC and know how speaking about classified stuff online = disciplinary action & discharge.
3. They want you to talk yourself up, talk about the positives (eg: if you do those geopolitics roleplaying games, you could spin something about being a teamplayer), for talking about mil aviation on forums, talk about how you do it to learn more and just that you find the topic fascninating, but that it's just some side thing.
>>
>>30112163
What kind of technical stuff did the specialist ask you?
Also why'd you leave?
>>
>>30112444
It's hard to remember exactly what he asked, but none of it was particularly technical, just things like what subjects I did in high school, how I was with maths and physics, and again, why I was going for that role specifically and not others.

As for leaving, it was only half my choice; doing an engineering degree and military training at the same time ended up being too difficult for me to manage (being forced to be up at 6AM, having to spend hours clean my building to perfection every week, having to attend useless and boring lectures or face disciplinary action, having to spend 15+ hours doing mandatory training, having restricted leave, etc). They did give me an option of going into warehouse logistics, but while I massively respect those guys, I have zero interest in doing their job, so I chose termination. I'm working on continuing my degree now.
