That is not a problem. The problem is that any shot to the face can break your neck.

You don't. Which is why nobody actually uses those things in the field. They look hardcore in photo-ops so you'll occasionally see South American cops, airsofters and Stormfags wearing them but nobody is running up flights of stairs and getting into gunfights while wearing one.

I wonder if a combat helmet with the intergrated possibility of a ballistic mask (to reduce impact on face/spread carry weight over whole head) would make them more popular

>>
>>30105191

Nope. Look up helmet ballistics tests. The helmet performs wonderfully against every round it is rated for, then the tester invariably pulls out a rifle and the rounds go straight through it, doesn't even phase the bullet.

.223 would fly right through that mask and kill you. You'd be much better off without it so you can move quickly enough to not be in a shooters sights at all.

The slavs have made helmets that can stop rifle rounds and even AP rounds with some kind of neck protection that removes the heavy burden.

How deep are your Pockets? What do you plan to do with it? What will you be fighting as such close quarters that you are in need of it? Face protection has many downsides but only 2 ballstic face platforms are even viable to field use. each costs around 500 usd and require proprietary helmets that cost around 900 usd so when everything said & done you have a 3000 usd helmet that will stop rifle rounds ( SLAAP armor). PROJECT SARIS purpose to to provide the best armor platform in existence to battle things that lurk... demons, jihadists, you name it. I will not post manufacturers nor will i post ITAR controlled manuals. But just out of curiosity why are there so many tactical storm soft faggots buying this shit?! when professionals need this for there OPS?!

SLAAP plates run about 700 usd and can take about 5 hits before failure with little to no neck trauma from a 7.62 x 39 API so 5.56 at 100 meters should protect you, however it is not RATED for that but velocity defeats armor, then the kinetic energy finishes you off.
>>
OPS CORE is the only system that allows open ventilation, check welding, along with decent horizontal fov. You need training and intimate knowledge of pouch placement due to the posts above talking about FOV you will be restricted to bone conduction comms 99% of the time if you can even afford that. The gunsight maniable that I own is like wearing a hybrid dirt bike helmet that hugs your face its comfortable but very enclosed if you are claustrophobic I would seriously recommend you put your money into solutions for different applications...
>>
>>30105191
Maybe it could stop a single round but your face would be fucked after it.
>>
>>30109706
This dubstep music is annoying as fuck. And while the helmet may stop the round, look how hard the dummy's head gets dented in. Would wreck your fucking skull.
>>
well you'd be dead other wise.. and besides we are all ugly anyway if you are in this field of work lol. That's assuming you're not a poser who only owns toy guns...

But eh whatever airsoft has its place, mostly for the NVG training that it provides and is the only sport that allows me to test things in a controlled environment with REAL people shooting back. The other alternative is SIMUNITIONS, live fire drills in the middle of nowhere on STATIONARY steel plates...

make circles with your thumb and index finger, and put them on your eyes like goggles. Now, are they that obscuring?

Not to mention you can still fairly easily move around, just not run too comfortably. The overall weight is no higher than an average full gear soldiers carry on marches.

Those are also great points to add to this informative conversation! :D But I think this posters mistake above is that he did not do his reasearch nor have the experience to identify what works & what doesn't, before purchasing a questionable product that is made or sponsored in china... Those masks have shit Quality Control, Shit breathing, incompatible with most ballistic eye pro, incompatible with helmets. It's literally 1990s tech and it's far to primitive face protection for modern warfare in my honest opinion.

>>
>>30105191
According to their own website it'll stop up to .44 magnum, so I'm guessing no. Why in the fuck did you not just read the description of the mask before you bought it?
>>
It was just a picture of my simunitions training over at anderson AFB. the abu IOTVS are the gen 2's hence ABUwith ACU. It also verifies ID tags in the posted photos. TO verify I HAVE experience with armor and armor carriers involving "TACTICS" .

Not unless you're shot with a fucking cannon it won't.

And if you're shot in the head with a cannon, broken neck is going to be the least of your problems.
>>
>>30113317
>Bullets have a lot of energy

No they don't. They have surprisingly little.

Also the transfer is imperfect, the neck is flexible, and the spinal column is much stronger than you think. Bet you think that movie thing where you can break a neck by just twisting it a little with your hand is real too.

Sadly 99% of most people on ar15, afcom, and get off the X are so incompetent and ignorant THAT is exactly what most average people think. Until you do the science grab a pack of G force Impact Indicators, ballistics gel, and make the 1000$ sacrifice for science...

Then watch them call it fact and disprove it

>doesn't wear helmet
>Gets shot in face

Never got the point of these posts. It adds additional protection, but we don't have power armor like Fallout 4, a walking tank. Hell, even if we did, people would still point out that you could get shot in a tendon in your ankle
>>
>>30113317
Even assuming you were shot with something fairly potent like a 30-06, your head would hardly be moving.

11g @ 800m/s vs. 8000g @ 0m/s
Assuming inelastic collision..
The head would be moving at 1,1m/s.
>>
why not just put a solid piece in front of the mask so you could have holes to breathe under it?
Like so:
\ Mask begins
0| Eye hole
\ Slope begins
#\ Mouth hole (#) and slope continues
/ Slope stops, leaving open space to breathe

I know, my ASCII art is amazing
