Happend yesterday in Switzerland at the range BrĂ¼nig Indoor. A 12.7mm cartridge detonated in the magazine injuring the shooter.
How could this have happend?

Could be a 1000 different things

A round randomly cooking off in a mag seems implausible, most probably an out of battery firing, they tend to blow the magazing out, there is an oldschool gif of an F/A m16 doing just that.

Can someone tell me the premise of these articles in American? I'm not copy pasting that into google, the translations are distracting... I'll start giggling and forget why I was reading.
>>
>>30101519
Basicly what I wrote in the begin of the thread.
Cartridge exploded in the mag of the rifle, shooter is injured and flown with a heli into hospital. No criminal investigation was launched but they try to find out how it happend.
>>
Looks like the hand warmer/magazine combo was a bad idea.
>>
Turns out it was because of a dirty magazine. Debris inside along the rear of the magazine cause a primer strike with the recoil from firing. Glad hes ok
>>
>>30101584
If that could actually happen, there would be 300 guys blowing mags of of AKs every year
>>
>>30101101
Pretty much. They even speak their own garbled German that outsiders can't understand.
>>
>>30101711
It probably does happen, it just happens to people who deserve it the most.

Most AK users are kebabs and slavs. Nobody gives a shit about kebabs and slavs.

>>30101711
50bmg has a wee bit more recoil than 7.62x39

This could in theory happen... But i have never heard of something like this.
Do you know more?

Not OP's case but even a .50 can blow it's shit.

Squib round in this case.

As with any gun, be very very careful!

Maybe he reloaded?

And fucked up one of the rounds.

If it the primer is not seated like the right cartridge in the picture it gets hammered with the 50BMG fires and boom!
>>
>>30102009
There have been reports of defective primers going off just by rounds being dropped on the ground.

Some manufactures go the extra step to prevent (or limit) chain fires if this happens with primers sold for reloading. Some federal primer boxes are fuck huge becuase of this.

Is this why the "Glocknade" meme exists?

>9mm
>probably the most common centerfire cartridge in the world
>therefore, easily one of the most produced cartridges in the world
>QCing every single round is probably a pain in the ass
>suddenly, BOOM
>Glock just happens to be the most popular 9mm polymer pistol in the world
>therefore, Glocknade
>even though it's the ammo's fault
Am I on the right track here?
>>
>>30104204
No. It's because the earlier generation .40 cals didn't fully support the case in the chamber.
>>
>>30104204
Nah the glocknade thing started with actually the first gen .40 S&W glocks. The chambers had thinner walls and didn't extend fully to seat the round properly, resulting in a chamber that couldn't properly handle hotter-loaded +P or +p+ ammo that law enforcement and reloaders might load, leading to a bunch of chamber failures on those glocks. Gen 2 .40 S&W glocks and onward fixed the problem.
>>
>>30104204
gen2 glocks in 40 actually
the 9mms were always fine
>>
I would suspect the rounds he was shooting may of been a custom load?
>>

>>30104907
Article says ammo from Browning, but that could just mean .50 BMG.
Does Browning make ammo?
>>
>>30105305
yes, but it's boutique hunting ammo, no .50 BMG

the cause was due to a jam, resulting in magnesium failure, causing explosion

Was it manufactured by Glock? That's how.
>>
It wasn't a M107. It was a Sero GM6 Lynx. The "exploded" cartridge in the Magazine was actually just ripped by parts of the exploding gun because the second shot went off when the bolt wasn't closed (still researching why)

what the fuck???
>ripped off case rim in background
>round didnt even leave the caseneck
my guess is the fucker has reloaded those cases about 20 times already, and somehow the bolt worked through an already weakened casewall on backstroke, and the inertia thew up some powder against the sliding bolt and got crushed, sparked, and ignited.
>>
Bad Guess. The ripped off case rim in the Background is the one of the cartridge which is left after the rifle fired out of battery. It has a clear primer stroke on the back. And why exactly should a round leave the caseneck when the whole cartridge is ripped by a shrapnel from top to bottom? Where should the pressure to do that come from?
