God tier tactical flashlights/brands. No custom pocket jewelry. I love me Hanko as much as the next but I'm not gonna use that shit in a SD scenario unless it's my last option. I'll take a momentary Elzetta or Surefire before my custom lights.

Surefire, Elzetta, TLR, Wilcox That about all I would use.

If you go just a smidge bigger you can get a Fenix PD32 that can take a 18650. 900 lumens and it is pretty small. Has a snap on pocket clip versus threaded on one to boot.

Not him, but i wouldn't use the word 'building' for putting together a P60 based light. Just order the parts you want, spend 30 seconds screwing them together, and you have a light customised to whatever your preferences are. This way your not limited to the very few factory models with a true tactical switch. You may or may not save money, it would depend on whatever factory model you are comparing it to.

No. A 1000 lumen light that size would probably be a hobbyist type thing, with an IMR high discharge battery and a very short run time. The 280 lumen listing would be the most accurate, as that is what trusfire claims.

Not sure about their tactical options, all i can tell you is that the M23 tailcap switch is difficult to momentarily activate without latching on.

I would probably look to other brands for a tactical flashlight, but for other purposes, i highly recommend olight, particularly the baton series and the M3XS-UT spotlight.

I have over 10 lights from Surefire; from old X200s and X300s to the newer X300U-A and X300U-B, XC1s, keychain lights, etc.

In terms of flash light companies, I've yet to find a better company with a better product.
>>
>>30098540
>Do you think you would be able to tell the difference between 300 and 400 lumens?
Nah, it's more logarithmic i think. ~600 lumens is where you would see a real difference. But, if you want to actually use a flashlight for self defense, you might as well get something a little bigger that runs on 18650s. You'll have a lot more throw, battery life, and retina burning power :^) I just think these "compact" lights fall in between real compact size and self defense capabilities. Whatever works for you though.

surefires and streamlights are the only ones i trust on a firearm or on duty.

LED 6D maglight is 100% reliable but to big to edc. They make perfect vehicle lights and to beat people in the face with.

other flashlights i use are LED minimags and Fenix PD35s. The minimags because they're a nice balance of brightness, reliability, cost, and they take AA batteries and have a good battery life. I put those in various kit and bags because AA batts are available everywhere. The PD35s are 1000 lumens and are my general EDCs as the surefires all live on belts or guns.

I try to run everything off of AA, 18650, or CR123s.

I have three of those flashlights, and they're damn good. They work really well, especially for how cheap they are. I picked up the first one because I saw it at Costco for $20 and thought 'there's no way it's actually a thousand lumens'. I'm not sure if it is, but it sure does work well.

When I need something smaller, I use my mini maglite. It's cheap, it works decently, uses AA batteries, and I can slide it in my jean pocket next to my wallet with no hassle.

Best I can think of.

You're basically asking for something that's going to carry like an OWB double-stack mag pouch, so if you've got a problem concealing that, you're going to have a problem concealing the light.

I just wore one of those out. Split right along the top edge of the belt loop. Apparently that's a common problem with kydex belt loops. It lasted at least a year and did its job well until it fell the fuck off my belt so I wouldn't be opposed to just getting a new one periodically if it came to that.

My main problem with most flashlight holsters that I've seen is that they aren't designed to cant the light inward for concealment, they're either neutral- or outward-canted so the light is easy to draw. While this makes sense in a vacuum (why would you need to conceal a flashlight) it creates problems when you have other things on your belt line that you do need to conceal (i.e., a gun).

I'll probably just call the CCC guy and see if I can work out a custom order to meet my specific needs.

Surefire P2X Intellibeam. It magically adjusts from 15-600 lumens so you never have more light than you would reasonably want, unless you hit the button again to put it on maximum brightness.

My TN15 will illuminate the treeline 115+ meters away. Plus it came with the pressure switch cap and a second battery extension tube.

Not sure this pressure switch cap is durable enough for real world use though.

>trusting no name chink garbage over an actual combat tested and proven high quality US built flashlight
>thinking that lumen output is the metric of quality in a light
>being this much of an uninformed noob

Surefire has a good reputation for a reason.
>>
I'll take a lot of crap for saying this but I really like the CRKT Tactical Applications Flashlight ( F1010 ).

Projected lens reflectors provide maximum output and brightness of blinding light. Caution is advised when using the lights; do not flash directly into the eyes for extended periods.

The industrial grade rubberized, tail cap button is pushed to control the multiple light modes.

Tactical Applications Flashlight Modes –

>>High Mode Functions (Bezel Out) 320 lumens - Approx. 150 minutes of run time.
>1. Momentarily On–Slightly depress the on-off button with your thumb or index finger to temporarily activate the light. Release and the light turns off.
>2. Fully On–Depress the on-off button until it clicks to fully activate the light. Click to turn off.
>3. Strobe On–Quickly depress the on-off button twice to activate the strobe. Fully click the final press to lock into a constant blinding strobe mode. Click to turn off.

>>Low Mode Functions (Bezel In)
>1st click displays a low 3 lms light with 286 hrs. of run time.
>2nd click turns the light off.
>3rd click displays a mid 10 lms light with 40 hrs of run time.
>4th click turns the light off.
>5th click displays a max 75 lms light with 8.5 hrs. run time.
>6th click turns the light off.
>7th click displays (S.O.S.) with 75 lms and 26 hrs. run time.
>8th click turns the light off.
>After the flashlight has been off for 2 seconds, it resets to the original settings.

I know there are better on the market but I don't think there are any better within the under $150.00 ( I bought mine for $60 ) price-range.

Pic and vid related.

On the last thread about lights on k someone recommended the streamlight stylus.
My brother got me one of the USB rechargeable kits for my birthday.
I am amazed at the throw this 60 lumen light has.
It can light up objects 30 yards away in the dark and is a perfect task light for my job which is plumbing.
The person who recommended them said it had a lot to do with the reflector.
>>
>>30108647
Forgot to mention "inb4 it has no strike bez-" James Williams has said he designed it without one because it is better to constantly keep the light in a foe's eyes and strike with a knife, kubaton, pen, etc. than it is to risk losing the blinding light that is helping to protect you. First vid related; second and third are just a bonus.

I really like the profile of that light but damn that strobe switchology is bad. And the strobe is slow as fuck. I know a lot of people could care less about that stuff but I really like the flashlights with one button that has momentary on (partial press) and constant on (full click), and a separate button that only does strobe. My Nitecore P10 has been pretty good so far, I know some people like the Klarus XT2C as well.
>>
>>30108576

Nice shit. I was debating on getting one, after I seen it on a friend ar, it look to big for my taste.
>>
>>30108734
I promise you that the description of the light is just lacking. You can activate all of the features using partial presses. I agree the strobe could be faster but I've also seen lights with much slower strobes and feel they found a nice middle-ground.

My biggest complaint about the light would have to be that it gets warm ( maybe it is just because I carry it in the front pocket of my work bibs ) in the hand. My second biggest complaint would be the uncommon variety of battery used in the light.
>>
>>30108781
>the uncommon variety of battery used in the light.
You mean there are flashlights that don't run on CR123s?
>>
>>30103738
cry harder, poverty patrol
>>
>>30108745
It is too big, you will need a special 1 inch light mount that sticks out farhter for the large bezel. Or you can mount the front of the bezel at the end of your handguard if the muzzle isn't near the same place
>>
>>30108734
I think the strobe is just slowed down for the sake of the video. IRL it seems much, much faster.

>>30108804
The smaller ( and less powerful ) personal defense model ( F1000 ) runs off a AA. I've also had other lights run off AA or AAA.
>>
>>30108871
Yes, the strobe in the video is slowed compared to how the F1010 strobes IRL. Maybe they did that to avoid giving somebody a seizure.
>>
>>30108654
Yeah, you need like 1 lumen or less to read a map, especially if your eyes are already dark adapted.
>>
>>30109401
Nah mate, at least fucking 50 to ensure you are getting all the details.
>>
>>30109454
No, you need 500. This way if the enemy are laying in ambush for you, you can blind them as well.
>>
Since this is a light thread I thought it would be the best place to ask. Does surefire or someone else make a tape switch for the surefire G2X?
>>
>>30109536
Yeah sure mate.
I'm sure ruining your eyes is worth it to ensure your flashlight isn't too bright, just in case you get invaded.
>>
>>30108251

Late reply, but I think the biggest problem you're going to run into with your proposed setup is that the Surefire's bezel is significantly wider than the body of the light. I suppose it wouldn't be as much of a problem if the light were carried bezel-up.

I have a tough time concealing anything OWB unless I wear a button-down shirt, and find myself carrying a spare mag less and less often because of that. The best I've got is a Raven mag pouch, and while it works most of the time, it's also pretty fucking huge. I can tote around a G17 in a well-fitting t-shirt, but I can barely carry a spare mag.

IWB mag carry hasn't worked for me, but for flashlights that aren't pocket carried, I've gravitated towards wearing them clipped IWB. I carry my gun AIWB so there's a bit of a space up front for the light to hide. YMMV, but in my case that works out a lot better than trying to hide the thing OWB.

And yeah, I'm not a fan of kydex belt clips/loops on anything anymore. I've had several give out on me. I like Raven's injection molded stuff or a soft loop, and I'm midway through the wait time on my first custom leather holster right now.

>clipped IWB
What, like hooking a pocket clip onto the inside of your belt/pants or something? I don't follow.
>>
>>30109843

Yep, exactly that. Clip it to the waistband of my pants (belt's too thick for most of my clips) and go. Usually I'll keep it at about 11 o'clock, light angled along the pelvic crease for comfort.

It works out just fine with lights that don't have a deep carry clip. There's usually at least an inch or so of the body to grab.

Caveat: if you're a frequent light user it's probably going to look fucking weird to pull a flashlight out of your crotch. I use my phone light for day-to-day stuff so I'm not concerned about appearances.

You will get just about 1h at MAX brightness, and 2-3 on medium, 12 on low, and damn near forever on ultra low.
Great for camping IMO, a single battery will last for a whole trip, but bring an extra just in case you get lost or some shit.
