well, I´m in for a new rifle

and I really want one of those VZ58s, so here am I

my prefered version is the super short (compact) version, see pic related

the problem is, should I get in in .223 or 7,62x39?

the .223 would use standard ar mags, so things like BETA-C mags would work too

also, ammo is more common around here and mags are dirt cheap, like 10 bucks a piece

problem is the low muzzle velocity out of that short barrel

compared to the 7,62 version, the x39 version
> uses cheaper surplus ammo
> proprietary mags
> higher muzzle velocity then .223 version

so /k/, which version would you choose and why?

I guess .223 vs x39 thread?

x39 is great out of a short barrel

Knock yourself out and buy it. I haven't known anyone to regret it, and you'll have a cool piece

With that out of the way

AR FAGS AND AK TARDS I SUMMON YOU
>>
Compact rifle choices
VZ58 shorty
Pros: Sturdy, good design, cheap ammo, OK cost
Cons: no aftermarket, goofy mags

AKS-74U clone
Pros: cheap-ish ammo, mags relatively easy to find, OK cost
Cons:limited aftermarket but still better than VZ, CYKA BLYAT

PDW-style AR
Pros: multiple chambering options available, mags plentiful, aftermarket huge, A E S T H E T I C
Cons: Expensive

Enjoy 8-month waits on NFA papers.

is the x39 really so much better out of a shorter barrel?
why is that?

also, does anyone know what kind of optic mount a vz58 uses?
>>
>>30091547
I´m european, so
> lol SBR BTFO
does not apply to me
it just needs to be 60cm+ in overall length

> VZ58 shorty
> no aftermarket
the only thing I would change is the trigger anyways

> AKS-74U clone
not available over here

> PDW-style AR
> multiple chambering options available
I would go with .223 or x39 anyways
> aftermarket huge
this, a big plus point
> A E S T H E T I C
not really
I would only take a super compact AR 15 like a ar15 pistol + stock

>>30091548
Standard AK side saddle, but you'll need a special mount so the brass doesn't eject into your optic:

This is what I mean by PDW AR
>>
>>30091547
I mean, if you're building, compact ar15s aren't anymore expensive than regular ones. If you use weird shit like the troy pdw stock, sure. But just use an lmt shortie or moe sl-k

> dat stock
HNGGG
I would love to have this one on a VZ58
if it wouldn´t be so damn expensive
>>
>>30091503
x39

>>30091582
>the only thing I would change is the trigger anyways

well you are shit out of luck there, fucking with trigger on VZs is basicly asking for malfunctions, there is nothing you can really do about it.

>>30091687
this kind of stock exists for VZs, joos sell it

>>30091735
thanks, but almost 280 buckerinous is too much for a stock IMO

>>30091717
> there is nothing you can really do about it
well, are they atleast somewhat good triggers?
>>
>>30091819
Try yourself, mine was military surplus, and after removing spring from FA disconnector still attached to trigger feels like a glock, which is better than before, still not great. CZ 858s will already have that done, and it's about as good as you can make them. Also, because it's not fully military trigger they sometimes suffer from gremlin, aka your trigger not reseting. Only way to remedy that is to buy special tab from CSA and weld it onto bolt carrier.
That's why, even thou I have VZ, I think it's inferior to AK and AR. But if you really want it, I'm not gonna stop you.
>>
Those micro VZs will break after around 1k rounds, due to over gassing and pressure.

Don't buy that shit, get the normal rifle length.

for ones with the upper handguard, a NEA railed handguard and aimpoint micro type sight is excellent
