Hello /k/ameraden!

I saw 13 hours: secret soldiers of Benghazi last night and I have a question.

[SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT!]

When the bad guys are attacking from the Zombie land and one of them aims the RPG and gets headshotted. Then he fires the RPG at the ground and it explodes.
Doesn't the RPG have to travel a specific distance to even get armed?

No, simple impact fuse on the tip of the round. If you are carrying it without the cover over the fuse, trip and the round hits nose first it can detonate while still in the launcher

I see, thank you!

And in general, was the movie realistic?
Not in terms of the actual events, but engagements and shootings?
>>
>>30080518
PG-7 and PG-7V use the VP-7 fuse. The fuse is two-part point initiating, base-detonating, piezoelectric ignited. The base portion of the fuse contains an inertial safety switch that is mechanically closed at booster burnout; the same action also initiates the self-destruct powder train that makes properly functioning PG-7 series rockets go boom 4-6 seconds after launch.
In other words, it will not go off at point blank, unless said fuse/round is faulty, in that rare case it could go off when fired.
>>
>>30080541
It's a Michael Bay film. What do you think? Most everything was exaggerated to some extent.
>>
>>30080518
It was alright, Bay couldnt help itself with the obnoxious jingonistic crap at times, but as an action flick it does the job well. Dirt Diver got fugged up though.
>>
>>30080523
Wrong. I asked one ofmy friends who is a SEAL and what actually happened in Benghazi is that when he fired the RPG, before it had a chance to accelerate too much , a designated marksmen (what you guys might refer to in Hollywood as a sniper) shot the RPG round and it exploded. It all happened too fast so it looks like it was caused by hitting the ground at first.
>>
>>30080518
Anyone get some good screens of the delta operators in the movie?

Reminded me of Tucker and Dale desu.

>>
The RPG rockets seemed very very unrealistic in this movie. The kebabs were almost lobbing them over the perimeter defenses... and they threw out tons of sparks as they went through the air. They behaved more like firecrackers than warheads...

Overall meh-tier movie. Exactly what you'd expect from a Michael Bay film.

Why did everyone stand still on the roof when they heard mortars incoming and most of the shooting was over. Let alone stand there to get hit by the second and third one?

The film was mediocre overall, and quite subdued for a Bay film. Still, it does have a few good scenes in it, mostly dealing with gore and chaos of warfare.
Bay made an actual good war movie once, I was hoping maybe he was returning to his roots. I wasn't totally wrong, but it was more miss than hit.

I'm not too familiar with the actual 2012 Bengazi attacks (except that every event depicted in the movie basically happened, just with less intensity). But it's a kind of bizarre US didn't just start calling in airstrikes left and right. Jurisdiction? What jurisdiction? US's been conducting semi- and non-authorized bombing runs, drone strikes in all kinds of countries, deploying SOF on occasion without even notifying the government of the state. Why not do it here?

>>30083171
Where would they stand? There were no fighting positions anyway, and perimeter needed to be manned regardless. Shitskins aren't known for proficiency in anything, including crewing mortars, to those rounds hitting anything at all was an accident.

The political regime that controls the US wanted to inflame the american public and make muslims more hated. They wanted to get the public gung ho for another middle eastern war (ie syria, yemen, etc). The attack happened on september 11th too, which obviously is a day where americans hold negative sentiments towards muslims - by letting the compound get rekt, rather than BTFOing the attackers in typical US military fashion, the regime thought the deaths of americans would be enough to set down a path towards war.

Instead it fizzled. The plan was apparently half assed, because the cover story turned out to be ridiculously unbelievable bullshit (that the attackers attacked the compound over a shitty youtube video). Once it became obvious that something was fishy, and that continuing to push the narrative would only cause more holes to be poked in it, the whole thing was dropped and buried.

Basically this is a good portion of what the big fuss behind killery clinton's email scandal is. That some of those emails had sensitive information that would prove the regime is actively sacraficing american lives and wellbeing to achieve their self-interests in the middle east.

Wasnt he (a) teamleader of the 10th SFG CIF during the Benghazi assault?
>>
>>30080518
The short answer is: It depends. There are a large number of warheads and variants built that can fit into the RPG-7 launcher.

Many have a safe/arm minimum distance, however some do not.

This guy:
>>30080699

Is pretty much on the money. Russian made RPG warhead often use that fuze or an AF-7x series fuze, which has a safe/arm minimum distance.

Something like an OG-7 (admittedly very visually distinct from a conventional 7V warhead) or an RPG-7AP round may be be set off without a minimum distance.

Also, ya know, Michael Bay.

I was apart of the only group that made landfall but we were told to go too late. Mr. Stevens was a good friend of mine... I haven't seen the 13 Hours movie but I have friends who told me it was pretty accurate but it just doesn't show everything that was happening or that went on, it was a narrow perspective, but that is okay by me. I heard Micheal Bay was really cool and that it was not over the top like his other movies... Also, fuck Hillary and any establishment politician for that matter...

some of the shittier rpg rockets have a cap on the impact trigger that you remove before firing instead of a timed trigger.

Take a look at a map, distances be hours.
The route in was litteered wit manpaads, we send helo releif and more die.
It was the dumbshit ambassador leaving the embassy at fault, and even then that's questionable if the embassy would have held.

What more likely happened was a CIA clean sweep to hide the gunrin op and chem weapons for ISIS going to Turkey.

As well, the main attack was over by the time it got up the horn, much less oversight being established.

RIP Vile Rat.
