one of my girls that passed away had an extraordinary vocabulary, she knew all her toys by name (go get the white goat, etc.) also had a great herding instinct, you could tell her to go find (family member) and she'd go find them in the house and bark at them, try to get them to come where I was. The owner went to jail because he was an alcoholic who got about a dozen DUIs before the judge finally got sick of his shit. I did a 4 month stretch in the Sierra Nevadas last summer. I brought along my Cur and she was a handful. Covering new terrain was a pretty big distraction and I found that she would get sidetracked often and was always finding something to chase. That said, I think it would be OK to operate with the dog. I know she would attack someone as it has happened at my house already. I've been thinking about getting dog armor.
The thing is, how much food are you planning to bring and/or supply for the animal? Packing for 2 was a chore and what little I caught or killed was precocious...forget trying that on the move.
I am a firm believer that downed enemies should be scavenged and looted. I'm not talking about just looting their corpse but using it for food. A dog could readily eat someone's face, genitals, buttocks, thighs, arms or other soft flesh. If she was hungry enough, I'm sure that I could convince the dog to chew up someone's gut fat and eat it.

I have one. Just be warned, they are extremely high activity. I have heard the term "High Activity" a million times, had four German Shepherds, and a Siberian Husky. None of them even come close to the level of activity of a Maligator. Not even close. They are a GREAT dog but they aren't for everyone. The Malinois will run circles around your Border Collie.

Patous are way too stubborn to be trained properly to do anything else than their strong guardian instincts.
But they make a hell of a home defender and are so fucking loyal and fearless.
My grand parents had one, once three guys tries to get in, doggo fucked them up so bad that my grand parents were sued by the thief's and their family (one of them lost several fingers). Fortunately back then the judge just laughed and told them.to fuck off, but today things might have gone differently.

Not that guy, and I don't know what you mean. GSDs are working dogs and are naturally very active. So you have to play with them outside often. They like to chew on shit (read; your furniture) as a puppy, but toys remedy this. If you don't train them (neglect) they'll have all sorts of problems ranging from being aggressive towards everything, including you, to having separation anxiety. They are also fucking huge. Typically 75-90 lbs I've seen many going 100+ (at least in the Chicagoland region). My pup is 8 months old and is already 90 pounds.

I've got 2 big english mastiffs. 220lbs each. Would not recommend for operating. Maybe as a resource guard. But they eat in one meal what I eat in 2 days. They are on a raw diet so if shtf I'll have to feed them humans.

This. I have two dobermans, a male and a female. Both are the sweetest things ever, but the female can be a total cunt when she feels like it. Don't like that we're paying more attention to the other dog? She will fart and leave the room. Both dogs are up on the bed? She will stretch out in the perfect position so that neither I nor my gf can sleep properly, so we have to kick both dogs off. Strangely, she never does this when just she is on the bed.
Sweet dogs, loyal to the bone, smart as a whip, but they know how to push our buttons to get what they want.
Joe is a good pupper, too stupid to be off leach, too fat to walk too far in the woods. But damn he is fun to walk with.

She is great. I got her from a breeder and she was already trained so She doesnt have many bad habbits other than she plays a little rough with other dogs.
She is also showline so she isnt quite as engergetic as working shepherds. Definitely needs at least 30-1hr of activity per day though.
