This is the first thing that came to mind for me but upon further review it's the 92FS.
Things in every action movie / show until the early 90s.

>92FS
but that's still popular and still in service.
I think OP is looking for more of a period piece.
you don't see a 1911 and think fedoras, flappers, and Model Ts, you just see a timeless pistol.
you see a Bren Ten and you think 80s.
it was designed in the 80s
it was popular in the 80s
it died in the 80s
>>30075430
>you don't see a 1911 and think fedoras, flappers, and Model Ts, you just see a timeless pistol.
that depends on what 1911 it is

>>30076860
Tec-9 always struck me as more of a 90's gun.
>>30075169
Agreed
>>30076882
Nostalgia tends to run about a decade behind. People say 70s and think great acid wave, muscle cars, hippie music - all products of the 60s.
R&B, and lame commercial hip hop werent from the 80s - rather 90s.
Fall of the iron curtain attributed to the 80s - but it was fucking wayyy late 80s, and the aftermath and reconciliation was ALL 90s.

You know that's Sarah Brady's (late) husband right?
Walther WA 2000 manufactured '83-88 it was a bond gun...back when Dalton was bond and the bad guy was from Goonies.
The MAC 10 is iconic b/c the cartels favored 'em in the early 80s.,
Uzi is as 70s as the AUG or an oil crisis,
Calico debut in '85 and Robocop didn't hit 'till '87 so they were a little late to the party
the tec-9 was '86 and in my eyes falls in with the Desert Eagle, or Barret M82 they existed but REALLY didn't gain notoriety until the early 90s
after the AUG the 80's were the era of the bullpup, the UK and europe were getting their battle rifles sorted; FAMAS in '81, SA80&LSW in 85-86, the G11 in '87 (the G11 ins the high water mark in small arms development, the point of diminishing returns. We'll never see another one like it)
>>30079591
in the same way the AUG ushered in the Polymer age....
you'll notice in the take-down picture the parts are all blocks, representing a shift from screw type machines that could feed and mass produce bar stock (round receiver guns&components) to CNC mills, you'll see the same difference between the bolt carrier in an AR vs. a G36/sl-8 Different eras of design.
>>30076860
Thing is tho, most iconic 80's stuff are really just late 70's stuff. Much like how 90's stuff are late 80's stuff, etc etc etc.
>>30079729
