I'd look at FNX, HK USP and USPc, P2000 (regular and SK), P30 (SK variant as well) and Walther p99's. I hear the new Walthers are supposed to be good, but I've only really had any real experience with the P99 full size, which I love.
You're a pretty small guy and you probably have small hands; so you might not like the full size USP's, they have pretty large grips, the compact line is nice and slim though, I find them to be almost too narrow in the grip.
If you don't mind having a striker fired gun then obviously look at Glock 19/26, FNS (they have a compact version which is pretty nice), and S&W M&P, which also has a pretty nice compact model. The Glock and S&W don't have ambidextrous mag releases, but they are reversible (if you have a gen 4 glock), and the glock also doesn't have ambidextrous slide stops like the FN and S&W.
