Excuse me, are you new to knives? If so you should know that the karambit is like the katana of knives... Overpriced and overrated pieces of shit.

It won't do you any better than a standard fixed or folder with a blade bigger than 2 inches. Even then you're better off with a straight blade and not something you have to hold icepick to be effective. Karambits are literally meme weapons and you shouldn't buy one.

Just got my crkt and a couple other goodies in the mail. Amazon prime 1 day shipping is tits!

As far as the M16 03S classic goes it's a very well built knife, great size foe EDC, decent Aus8a steels, very nice and light aluminum handles, and flipper works great. Price $45

Cons: they used Teflon washers, bronze washers would have made this thing so much smoother. But I can always buy or make some washers.

Overall 7.5/10

OK just finished sharpening here are the results. I kept the angle close to the orginal to speed thing up a bit. I'm guessing 36-40 degrees

So the aus8 takes a nice sharp edge and it's fairly easy to sharpen

However the factory edge was very uneven and took sometime blending things in. Towards the tip was the worst.

154cm, s30v, cts-204p, cpm-m4 and the list goes on. There isn't really a best one as edge retention/hardness tends to be directly opposed give or take with toughness and ability to take a clean fine edge, so do you require ultimate edge retention in slicing applications or something more able to take abuse but more likely to blunten?

I used a Norton Crystolon coarse silicon carbide oilstone (~90 grit) charged with ~36 grit silicon carbide abrasive from a TASK garden hone.

I started by choosing an angle half way between the primary bevel angle and the edge bevel angle to cut off the shoulders, and then lowered the spine until it was just a hair off the stone.

I stopped when my 10 degree per side edge bevels were reasonably narrow.

Are Swiss Army knives or other multi-tools memes? They seem like sorta useful but pretty terrible at their jobs compared to an individual tool (eg screwdriver, knife, nail file, etc).
>>
>>30063163
Can you carry an entire dedicated tool set around? Then do it. If not, use a multitool and a stand alone knife.
>>
>>30063163
I use my pioneer all the damn time. The screwdriver on the can opener is perfect for most Phillips head screws, and it's way more convenient than carrying around a screwdriver. Also the awl makes a great little poker for general opening, scraping, and stuff of that nature. If you find yourself needing to take things apart to repair them often by don't want or have a leather man then it's great.

>>
>>30065266

what for? camping? try condor bushlore or something from Ahti, Helle (might be more than 50 bucks though), or other traditional scandi knives.
>>
>>30063163
Like anything, they're a compromise between having proper tools and making do with whatever you've got available. For people that don't need a honking big multi-tool or a locking blade of some sort they're discrete, easy to carry, good quality and fucking tough.
I've seen people who've run them through dishwashers and shit, they basically don't give a fuck.
Downside is that while the stainless is a good steel (think its 440 of some type or equivalent) the heat treat isn't as great as it could be and while they sharpen up pretty good, they don't hold an edge very long. Oh and there's dozens of stories about the blades closing on someone's fingers and getting stitches, which happens with old timey style pocket knives since Grog slipped with his flint blade skinning a bunny.

So yeah, good carry knife for general purpose/emergency shit. Not something which attracts the ninja knife fighting pro's who have to kill 3 muggers getting off the bus every morning.
>>
>>30060762
Nah Ganzo seems to bear the patent of doing the worst jimp job I've ever seen. And they have serious problems with their unlicensed axis lock springs as well as stop pins. Just avoid this brand.
Into the similar price range Enlan or Sanrenmu are usually cheaper in money but better in feel and use.
>>
>>30063506
>Ah look, a play mat Ultratech!
I can see that the tri-grip pattern on aluminum and the X-shaped thumb slide offer much more traction, but will they tear off more fabrics as well? I am curious about how the pocket clip contact with the handle surface actually.
>>

Love the wave opening spyderco endura and delica.

Vg10 steel, grayish blue handles, and even though they are saber grinds, they still cut great. The delica on the bottom has been sharpened by me.

Crkt BT-70

Pros: love the design/dual grinds.
Cool g10 handles with neat dragon milling. Amazing fit and finish. Built like a fucking tank, no wiggle in any direction. Very unique design. Aus8 steel is very well heat treated in my example. price is very reasonable at $70-90 street. VERY Ergonomic, feels like holding your owe cock. Cool milled pocket clip that works great.

Cons:for being a tactical knife its fairy hard to open with the thumb disks. For being a tactical knife it has no deep finger choil or guard to protect hand from slipping on blade. G10 can get slick with sweat/blood. Very think grind, not a good slicer. Could have used better steel. Very heavy! Not lefty friendly.

Overall 6.5/10 great for those that like Bob t designs. Awesome Unique Piece for your knife collection. Definitely not a good cutter definitely not for EDC.

i like the blade but i wish it had a more ergonomic handle

That is a fucking solid line up of reccommended folders right there.

Go fingerfuck one somewhere, the handle is really damn comfy, but it's a little slick. Some hockey tape and this knife would be good to go.

fuck it, put skateboard tape on it like nutnfancy
>>
>>30074651
Skateboard tape would work, but it would be hell on your hands of you tried to use it without gloves for any length of time wouldn't it ? Is it as abrasive as a skateboard deck ? Because I wouldn't want my hands wrapped around that for longer than a few seconds

But to each his own

Doable.
Spend around 50 bucks to build a high quality sheath is actually worthy for a $20 fixed blade.
As Nutnfancy has stated in his Kershaw Bear Hunter video, under this circumstance the blade is disposable, but sheath stands.

Growing up I had a kabar sheath for the 6 inch model that I used for a few different knives. I broke lost or bent four or five knives that I toted around in it, but the sheath is still sitting in a drawer as far as I know, waiting for a new blade.

Depending on your budget, take a pick.
I believe there are also some really good scales on eBay.

Reminds me of my Ti Para 2. Not the most expensive one, but absolutely a gem among my knife pile.
