Let's talk about pings. I went up to CMP in Alabama this weekend to grab one of the last pings I could get. Set aside a national match 1 muzzle 1 throat. All is well until i was delayed by the fbi. So now I wait for my ping. Let's see some of the beautiful garand owned by /k/.

$89 Dollars in 1950 = $891.97 in 2016.

I doubt they could be made for so little if all the tooling and machinery had to be re-invented and built anew. John C. Garand was a tool and die maker by trade and just as proud of the tools, jigs and dies he invented to build the Garand. They are very fine rifles indeed.

Honestly $900 isn't a bad price for one. If only there was a company interested in making about 500000 of them, they could easily negate tooling costs. It would also give a good supply of parts. One can dream.

I'd hope they'd make a few similar calibers. .308, 7mm-08, .243. There are a number of .308s out there, and a few .243 conversions.

It wouldn't be worth it. People like the M1 garand because of the history. New production wouldn't make up for the tooling costs unless they could buy the old tooling.

Its by far my favorite gun. Pic related. <3 my Garand. Bought it for $600 from a fudd who didn't destroy it.
>>
>>30026216
You just saved me a lot of money then, so thanks for that. Is there anyone else who makes Garands? I live in Canada so the CMP isn't an option for me.
>>
>>30026260
Canada is the land of the garand recievers. build one yourself they are not hard to build
>>
>>30025944
I know plenty of people who want to shoot these competativly. I know I'd be more willing to shoot the shit out of new production in limited matches so I didn't put extra wear on a collectable.
>>
>>30026570
Vintage matches are not super common, and the M1 doesn't hold up very well in modern matches.
Just find an m1 that doesn't have an original barrel and you dont have to worry about putting wear on a collectable. Plus the m1 was made for war. Swap a barrel out every what 7-10k rounds and maybe springs and your good.
