What is best for home defense, .22lr supressed or .45acp supressed? I live in an apartment building with thick concrete walls, and if I have a burglar and have to shoot I don't want them to not wake up, could a supressed .45 acp do that or would I have to choose a .22lr?

It removes the explosion and gunshot noise but it's still definitely loud enough to sound like a car door slamming or something heavy dropping if you're in the same building.
Whatever kind of botched misinformed assassination OP is planning is the reason why suppressors are so hard to get in the first place.
subsonic ammo + adding fluid to the silencer will make it only as loud as the action makes while cycling

Ok 22 is out entirely. A suppressed 22 supersonic vs unsupressed yeilds little diffrence , if your going suppressed and are trying to optimize being quiet, you use subsonic rounds.
Subs are NOT always the best for self defense though due to poor penatration and expansion / fragmentation. (Aka might as well shoot em with a crossbow)

.45 acp gets pretty quiet because it's usually already subsonic. though not whisper quite like movies.
.22s get quite as hell too.
A subsonic .22 can be rediculously quiet.
