should i get one 1858
>>30017787
The medicine stick is the best weapon in New Vegas. Fuck anyone who disagrees, and fuck bethesda for making fallout 4 such a shitty game
>>30017787
No shit, I just bought a 1860 from Cabela's today. Can't wait to try it out!

>>30017834
Soooo
What's your buisness here, stranger?
>>30017848
Nah, that's just my uberti 1851 repro.
>>30017828

NO ONE DARED TO ASK HIS BUSINESS, NO ONE DARED TO MAKE A SLIP
FOR THE STRANGER THERE AMONG THEM HAD A BIG IRON ON HIS HIP
>>30018012
BIG IRON ON HIS HIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiip
>>30018049
Plot twist, big iron is actually slang for dragon dildo
>>30018012
Big ass fuckin diiiiiick.
>>30017869
Mean the one from deviantart?
>>30018204
idk where it's from, but it's a great photo of Kino's loadout
I know i have it somewhere, but I'm too drunk to find it in the chaos of my imagefolder.
>>30017787
This song makes me sad. Because just as he came, and sang ballads of old, Marty left us. Just left us crying in the rain.
>>30017787
>The Ranger's "Big Iron" actually existed. It was a one-off custom handgun chambered in .45 Colt and featured a Great Western copy of the Colt Single Action Army frame, Colt 1860 Army backstrap, grip frame and grips and a cut down 9 1/2" Marlin rifle barrel. Marty Robbins saw it in Andy Anderson's famed North Hollywood gun shop in the late 1950s and wrote the song around it. Its current whereabouts are unknown.[4]
The irons ITT aren't even almost big enough, also Big Iron a shit, El Paso is a good Marty Robbins track
>>30018211
This one?
>>30018228
>.45 colt copy of SAA
>>30018261
Oop, found it.
>>30018268
>tfw not as good as I remembered
>>30018228
el paso is good but big iron isn't shit
>>30017787
When I was a toddler my dad used to play marty robbins on his guitar to put me to sleep.
When he was too tired or busy he played it on a tape cassette player for me to listen to.
So playing fallout new vegas and hearing marty robbins "big iron" and assorted marty robbins trail ballads actually choked me up when I heard it.
Lotta feels associated with that music for me.
>>30018264
mommy, what's wrong with that man's face
>>30017848
The Sequoia is a Magnum BFR.
>>30017787
>YWN operate operationally in the Mojave with Boone and EDE.
Why live?
Six shots. More than enough to kill anything that moves.
Can I use simple vaseline instead of bore butter or that expensive as fuck pedersoli stuff? What's the difference in cleanup?
>>30018453
Well, Vasoline is (in)flammable, no?
So...unless you want your gun on fire...
>>30017802
Survivalists rifle is better
>>30017848
>>30018390
Nope.
Sequoia is closest to the Century (not the importer) Model 100.
>>30018474
That would make for even more exiting shooting.
My main concern is if there is any potential damage to the gun or if the cleanup is a bitch.
>>30017798
I got the 1858, its really fun.
>>30018329
Holy shit anon, are you me?
It was my grandma, but still.
Not 1851, but better. One of the few good pics I've ever taken.
>>30018453
Never use petroleum based lubes with black powder. They combine with black powder fouling to form tar on your gun that is damned hard to get off. If you don't use bore butter, use Crisco. Oil the gun with a vegetable oil. Cleaning should be done with hot water and soap.
>>30019948
Crisco works good. All I use.
If not veggie oil, get some Balisol. It's fucking fantastic. For like, everything.
>>30018228
Did somebody say 9 1/2" barrel? I can up that ;^)

There's an awful lot of small irons in this thread.
>>30018495
...that's brass plated steel, right?
>>30018079
Sheeit, I also sing it that way
>>30020461
Is that your gun? Are the cartridge conversion decent?
>>30018391
Not with that attitude. Find some army vet and go out into the mojave to battle illegal mexicans. I'm sure EDE will be made within our lifetime.
>>30017802
nice ifunny watermark
>>30019742
Seriously where can I get that knife
>>30019742
someone please what knife is that
>>30021076
It's bronze, actually.
>The current Century Model 100 is advertized as having a frame of 120,000 pound tensile strength bronze and stronger than the original guns.
>The cylinder and barrel are 4140 steel and in addition to the .45-70 chambering, Century has added the .30-30 Winchester, the .375 Winchester, the .444 Marlin, and in a special sixgun known as The Mother Load, the .50-70.
>All of the Century sixguns weigh right at six pounds which helps to dampen recoil of these rifle cartridges quite effectively
While I'm not sure how accurate that article is though, as the Model 100 that I was looking at weighed a little over 7lbs.
>>30021191
>Is that your gun?
Yes
>Are the cartridge conversion decent?
Like any other cartridge firing revolver.
>>30023252
>of 120,000 pound tensile strength
It isn't exactly reassuring when they give you a force where they should have used a pressure.
>>30023534
I think the article was from a 1977 gun mag.
Not exactly the pinnacle of good or correct info.
They're supposedly fine with most loadings more akin to old trapdoors.
Just one of those neat pieces of history (albeit recent history)
>>30023534
Pressure would matter for the cyl and barrel, tensile strength is the right measurement for a frame.
>>30017787

HE WAS VICIOUS AND A KILLER, THOUGH A YOUTH OF TWENTY FOUR
AND THE NOTCHES ON HIS PISTOL NUMBERED ONE AND NINETEEN MORE
NOW THE STRANGER STARTED TALKING, MADE IT PLAIN TO FOLKS AROUND
WAS AN ARIZONA RANGER, WOULDN'T BE TOO LONG IN TOWN
HE CAME HERE TO TAKE AN OUTLAW BACK ALIVE OR MAYBE DEAD, AND HE SAID IT DIDNT MATTER HE WAS AFTER TEXAS RED
>tfw no wheelgun so can't post in glorious thread
WASNT LONG BEFORE THE STORY WAS RELAYED TO TEXAS RED
BUT THE OUTLAW DIDNT WORRY, THE TRIBE BEFORE WERE DEAD
TWENTY MEN TRIED TO TAKE HIM, TWENTY MEN HAD MADE A SLIP, TWENTY ONE WOULD BE THE RANGER WITH THE BIG IRON ON HIS HIIIIIIIP
>>30017798
yes. you just reminded me that dixie gunworks fucked up an order for a part for mine and I should call them tomorrow.
I'm out New Vegas gun pictures, but Ill post my own wheelgat so I can keep it going.
THE MORNING PASSED TO QUICKLY IT WAS TIME FOR THEM TO MEET
IT WAS TWENTY PAST ELEVEN WHEN THEY WALKED OUT IN THE STREET
FOLKS WERE WATCHIN' FROM THE WINDOWS, EVERYBODY HELD THEIR BREATH
THEY KNEW THE HANDSOME RANGER WAS ABOUT TO MEET HIS DEATH
(ABOUT TO MEET HIS DEATH)
>>30018329
My dad used to sing a lot of Robbins songs. When I heard that soundtrack all I could think of was how much he would have dug it were he still alive.
These feels, man. So not prepared for them.
>>30024859
Actually, that's the same model of lighter that Benny used, so it's kind of relevant.
>>30024859
THERE WAS FORTY FEET BETWEEN THEM WHEN THEY STOPPED TO MAKE THEIR PLAY

Anon pls.
That's just a Browning Hi Power Renaissance.
>Apparently no one has the money for a renaissance and is a fallout fan though as I can't find a single one with Our Lady de Guadalupe grips.
Well, since we're posting the good 'ol shit, i'll post mine.
>>30021013
His is like a different song. Slow and sad where Marty's is peppy and upbeat, plus all that cute fucking around with the guitar in the background.
>>30018228
Aight, that's fucking cool.
>>30025074
I'm saving up for a renaissance and I fully intend to buy a set of those grips. The only trick is finding one for sale, let alone for less than six thousand dollars. I currently have $2.9k saved up in my 'dream gun' account.
>>30021013
ok, THAT's the best cover

It was over in a moment, all the folks had gathered 'round.
There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground.
I figured this would be the best place to ask. I was looking at a conversion cylinder for 45 lc. I know the bullets need to be lead, but some people are saying you can only shoot cowboy loads while other say that standard pressure is fine. Would it really blow up my gun?
>>30025506
Go with cowboy loads.
A 250 grain bullet at 650-710 FPS is fine.
>>30025506
Depends on your gun.
If it's a ruger, you're safe with damn near any load.
if it's a Colt clone, cowboy loads only. but they're still perfectly potent.
The Remington clones i'm unsure of. they have an actual full frame. i'd still only use cowboy loads in it though.
>>30017787
Who else uses a Walker as their primary home defense gun?
>>30025574
Yeah, cowboy loads are fine (and sometimes cheaper) but I see standard pressure more often.
>>30025623
It's a Remington clone. It has the top strap, but I'm pretty sure the steel is weaker than modern handguns.
>>30025623
>>30025506
There are two issues with non native conversions, the lack of top strap on colts and what the cylinders are rated to handle. The conversion kits will have a sidewall blowout if you put a bunch of full pressure loads through them.
>>30025774
Thats a big iron
>>30025794
For you
>>30019742
I just want to know the knife...

>>30024313
Powder, balls, lube, and caps will about do it
>>30026356
>lube.
I only ever used a lightly greased wads in my rifles. and that was entirely because accuracy fell after 3 shots otherwise. never used lube in my revolvers.

Crazy that this thread was up; I've been walking around my house with my new .44 Redhawk 5.5" in some new leather singing that song all day.
I'm such a faggot.
