It's really not that bad. That's the only reason it's popular. There are other pistols that you can buy for like $150 or less, but they're so shitty that they aren't popular at all.

It's a .40 caliber Glock from their Problem Solver line. The Problem Solver line is generally heavily disliked and ridiculed on /k/ because of the sacrifices in quality Glock makes to make the line more affordable. If you ever decide to buy a Glock make sure to tell the guy at the counter you want a standard model and not one of the Problem Solver models.
>>
>>30015344
Its a working handgun for 150 bucks. You're right there is nothing wrong with it. The company doesn't have the best quality control but that just means that you dont get consistent quality. If you get one that has issue, they will fix/replace it under their very generous warranty.

I had a bad opinion on it for a while but after a conversation I had with an Eastern Outfitters dealer and an article in American Rifleman I read during a recent deployment my opinion changed...a bit. They are a good cheap starter gun to learn on and not blow your budget if you are poor. The article was trying to go the murika route by saying the 2nd amendment is for everyone and not just those who can afford it.

Cons:
>Heavier than most pistols of similar make.
>Bulky and not very ergonomic, even though it tries and fits SOME peoples hands.
>10 round mags (9 for .45) only and promags don't work worth shit.
>Virtually nonexistent aftermarket.
>Cheap materials.
>Marginal accuracy

Pros:
>Cheap
>Reliable
>10 round mag limit compliant
>Fits some peoples hands perfectly

Verdict:
If you like a cheap as fuck brick gun that is more reliable than accurate... go for it.

>a completely unbiased opinion on the hi point

The customer service and warranty are great. It breaks? It fails? Send it in for a repaired or new one. That does say a lot about the confidence of a company. The company has never been about making a pretty or fine tuned weapon, it's always been about making a gun anybody can afford. We are also talking about a straight blowback pistol that is p+ rated, that has to say something too as nobody dares to make anything like that. In truth though it's not about a gun you can stroke your dick over when you get home, it's about peace of mind.

Are you concerned about the crime rising in your town, but don't really want to travel miles down the gun guru road just to sleep easier at night? Fine, get a hi point.

Are you a concerned parent? Worried about the need to even the odds but just want to get something for peace of mind? Sure! Get a hi point.

Want more out of a gun? Want a tool of a certain trade? Want something you will use to the fullest instead of just when you need it? Probably should look somewhere else.

Not to say that the hi point isn't a decent firearm for what it is. Most of the people shouting about the high point being shit are just fetishists for a certain product they bought, or pretend to have bought, or fantasize about buying when they are old enough or have enough money from their fast food job to get.

It works for what it is, the cheapest peace of mind for someone who never plans to use it.

The argument is over.

Shit trigger.
so brick like, that it makes a glock look aesthetic as fuck.

If that's all you can afford, well it's better than nothing.

Nope.
Yes, it's ugly.
Yes, it's direct blowback.
Yes, it has a small mag capacity.
Yes, it's cheap.
But it works.
You push the bang switch and it pops off a round. Erry time.

Ford Fiestas are ugly and horrid too, but if you gotta get to work and don't have a lotta dough... there you have it.

Adding My 2 cents to a good response

2nd Amendment should not be limited because you are poor. Folks need to be able to defend themselves even if they do not have a lot of spending money. I hear they work reliably. They provide to a need. They give a opportunity for folks who do not want to blow a lot of cash on a gun to see if it's for them. Just take it to the range when you first get it and run it thru it's paces. Make sure it works, that you know how to shoot it and keep it where you need it.
>>
>>30015344
>It's clunky and doesn't sit right in the hand
>difficult to chamber, even for the ice giant hickhok45 and his son
>prone to jamming
>aesthetically one of the ugliest guns I've seen
Not only will I sage you for making me reply, I hope one day when you are in danger and you pull out your problem solver, it jams and you die, not because you have it, but because you stated it doesn't have any problems. Every gun has its problems. From surplus tokeravs being not drop safe and makerovs having a heavy trigger pull, to glocks blowing up in your hand and five seveN having snowflake ammo that is overpriced as fuck

Something that works not so great is better than nothing.
>>
>>30015344
The price.
>>
The highpoint will usually work.
Is that a gamble you want?
It's very affordable.
Have discipline and save just a little more. The ruger lcp is often less then 100 more. The sccy is about 275 at a gun show. A used glock is about 350 to 400.
What is your life worth?
A pistol for self defense is life support.

>people who have to scavenge together $200 for a gun only to never shoot it because they can't afford ammo

I'm not saying price directly correlates to quality but I don't see the point of cheaping out on a gun if ammo for 1-2 range trips costs as much as the gun did.

my highpoint .45 is dead accurate at 50 yards, bought it used covered in scratches for 80 dollars, has not jammed/misfired once in 500 rounds maybe, has been cleaned once. Does not feel good to shoot because the bottom of the magazine extends past the bottom of the handle and is not totally tight and moves slightly, my friends was the same. I owned the 9mm highpoint as well but It was stolen by Negroes on the way to a camping trip.

Outside of that, 10/10. Also I still want one just for beating on random shit and abusing it without feeling bad.

To me the, 'well the hipoint is cheap/affordable' argument loses weight when you put into against the used market. For just 50 bucks more you can have a better pistol.
