>Sun's out guns out who's going shooting this weekend
Finally got off my fat lazy ass and got a job, so hlpefully I'll have the doshfor some guns by the end of summer. Of course I still have to wait for the couple months it'll probably take for my applicaion to go through, but soon.
>>
>>30011468
Petty sure they have a long ass wait list for apps better put in asap.
>>
>>30011494
Tempted. It just poured around here so it won't be as fun to trek through the trails to go to my shooting spot.
>>
Does anyone actually plan on re-sponsoring S-223?

What you planning on getting for first gun?

There was rumor that someone might but the person who was rumored seems far too intelligent/opposed to sponsoring the bill.
>>
>>30014983

It's very clear that anyone who would dare re-sponsor such a bill would very likely be a Liberal or New Democrat.

So no, no one "far too intelligent" is going to sponsor the bill.

Fine then she is too well educated and experienced to make a political blunder such as responsoring said bill.

I've been absent from the scene for a while... did the liberals implement some sort of legislation where you have to register certain non-restricted firearms? I co-worker of mine was going on about it.
>>

All non res if you live in Quebec but that's it.
>>
>>30015936
There is one coming for QC as bill 64
There is also a bill for a back door registry as C-223 but its failing hard.
There is also the UN markings coming in July 2017 which in itself sucks but not quite a registry... yet.
>>
>>30015936
No, but Worst Province is sticking with the registry, unsurprisingly. Maybe that's what he was referring to.

I WANNA CHECK OUT THAT SWEET T-72

As for owning one, check with the authorities, but there are likely stranger things imported. Personally, I'm gonna DD an Iltis. Though I'd certainly buy a tank if I had the money and expertise.

>>
>>30016403
That plus a lot of importers are saying it will reduce the amount of interested companies by 3/4
>>
>>30016439
I'm no expert, but it's definitely possible. I mean, it's much cheaper to sell to the US and get those fat greenbacks in return. With the exception of Norinco, there aren't a lot of companies that can't sell to the US instead.

As if it wasn't hard enough to track down specific firearms (like Winchester Model 70s).
>>
>>30015795

This seems more like a way to get people interested. Compare it to Target Sports Canada where you pay 650$ or even 1100$ for a membership.

Speaking of markings, what are the legalities of removing serial numbers in the first place? Regardless of the new 2017 law, I mean.

I was always under the impression that only Restricted and Prohibited-class firearms had to have serial numbers in Canada, because muh registry.

I see very little reason for Non-Restricted firearms to have them. To my knowledge, the only reason they do have them has more to do with the manufacturer (because warranties and shit). Other than that, the only real use the end user gets is collection purposes (ie. you're a surplus collector and you want matching serial numbers), or you're Québecois.
>>
>>30016491
Why, because you want something that's close to an AR-15, only non-restricted?

They aren't very common. They're also rather expensive.
>>
>>30016507
I never had much interest in one, but my friend wants one. I would just as soon buy a Mini 14 or an SU16.
>>
Anyone have experience with purchasing Restricted firearms online?

This is my first time doing this, and I'm not sure what to expect.

Here's what I did:
>obtained membership to a gun club
>e-mailed a copy of my membership letter & my PAL to the CFO
>bought a restricted firearm through an authorized Canadian firearms retailer
>got an e-mail from the retailer, telling me that they've started the transfer

So, what do I do? I assume that the retailer will just ship my order once the transfer has cleared, but what about the registration? Does that come in the mail or something?
>>
>>30016569
I've bought five restricted firearms, and its easy as shit to do both privately and through businesses. When buying through a business, they do all the work too.

Answer: Just wait, you'll get your paperwork soon.
>>
>>30016569
Retailer needs your pal info not the CFO

For private sales you need to confirm with the CFO

Business sales they do it all for you
>>
>>30016604
I submitted a copy of my PAL *with* the gun club membership to the CFO because bureaucrats can be anal with that kind of shit. Too much is better than too little.

Either way, they both (CFO & retailer) have my PAL info.
>>
>>30016622
I always faxed an image of my PAL and my club membership card directly to the RCMP Firearms Office. They never confirm it, but I always get my shit lel.
>>
>>30016495
As far as I know, it's still illegal to deface a serial number, even on a NR firearm.
>>
>>30016636
>fax
I actually have a fax machine, but no fucking phone line. It's basically a neutered printer/copier/scanner. Imagine having a Swiss Army Knife with everything, but it's missing the little plastic toothpick.

>tfw it's the 21st century and not being able to fax has actually hindered me on several occasions
>>
>>30016495
>Criminal Code
Tampering with serial number
108 (1) Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, the proof of which lies on the person,
(a) alters, defaces or removes a serial number on a firearm;

>Firearms Act
Serial number
14 A registration certificate may be issued only for a firearm
(a) that bears a serial number sufficient to distinguish it from other firearms; or
(b) that is described in the prescribed manner.

Serial number isn't all that well defined in the CC could be a problem

Bill 64 QC LGR wording has been finalized.

>Key points
Owners have 1 year after coming into force to comply (not sure when the coming into force date is yet)
People moving residence into QC have 45 days to register.
A person who has a firearm in his or her possession must be able to provide the firearm’s registration number on request. (Failure to do so has a fine of 100-300$)
Failure to register has a fine of 500-5000$ (1500-15000$ for "non-natural persons" I guess this means businesses)
Fines are doubled for repeat offences.
Firearms that are found to be unregistered after a fine can be confiscated and destroyed under the order of a judge.
>>

Are there any known problems with the recent batch of mossberg 500s? just looking at the plain fudd version for a first gun.

compared to benelli supernova?
>>
>>30020481

Get the supernova if it's in your budget.
>>
>>30020551
im a tallfag and somebody recommended i get a 500 so i could put a magpul stock on it and extend the LOP to 14.5", but the supernova already has a 14.4" LOP and I usually throw a limbsaver on there anyway so i was like why; especially since i mentioned to that person i was interested in the supernova

is it normal for tallfags to have to hunch to get a cheek weld on a shotgun? if i do a standard cheek mount (a la trap shooting) the gun is hardly on my shoulder, but if i do a shoulder mount i have to hunch down, which reduces my acquisition time
>>
In Ottawa, trying to decide on a world war bolt-action. Looking for whatever is cheapest and most authentic looking, torn between a Mosin and a Yugo Mauser. Any opinions?
>>
>>30020593

You should be leaning into it anyway. It lets you absorb the recoil better, keeping you on-target.
>>
>>30020645
when i use a proper shooting stance (leaning into it an appropriate amount), i have to choose between cheek weld or shoulder mount

to get both i have to do an unnatural, exaggerated hunch down because i have a very long neck. i use a limbsaver to extend the LOP to the point where i can hunch and get a proper cheek mount on the middle of the comb, but i'm hunching nonetheless.

should i just accept that i have to hunch and try and find a gun that lets me hunch the least?
>>
>>30020687

You can buy pads that strap onto the stock to heighten the cheek weld, if you want.
>>
>>30020595
g98 or enfield. save your money for a good gun, because there is nothing a gun enthusiast hates more than buyer's remorse.

mosins are garbage and always have been. they are honest to god --and i hate to perpetuate the use of this term-- memes. the trigger is shit, they're inaccurate, the action is poorly designed, etc. if you clean them up they make OK wallhangers i suppose if you're into that style of gun.
