The V-22 Osprey has been the greatest procurement mistake of our time. It is vastly more expensive than a helicopter while being far less capable at the same time. It can't carry any serious weapons and so it is vulnerable to being shot down. The Osprey constantly breaks down and it can't even be exported to other countries because it sucks and everybody knows it. Worst of all, it is prone to crashing and killing everybody inside, which is a very negative quality for an aircraft meant to transport troops.
TLDR: The Osprey is an expensive boon-doggle that can't do anything that couldn't do anything that couldn't be done with a helicopter.

FALSE. The range of the V-22 has NEVER been tested. There is absolutely not even 1 shred of proof that it has longer range than a helicopter.

WRONG. The V-22 is only faster than a helicopter when flying at high-altitude which it cannot do when carrying passengers.

yeah, fuck-ups by ground crews on prototypes and shitty pilots are the fault of the plane. Only one or two of the crashes weren't due to those two factors.
The V-22 has a very specific role, and it executed that role well. It just isn't very effective at other things. It's the first craft in its role, and has done quite well considering.
