Both would lose in the end. China wins, their growth is halted and their economy is in ruins. America wins, and we'll have spent so much energy and resources it'll have been a net loss and American influence would begin to decline rapidly a la the British Empire after WWII.
Basically, there are no real winners in this scenario. No American Century or Chinese Century can happen if we resort to all out war.

Right now, the US, beyond any doubt. They've spent so much time building up their military and infrastructure that they are more or less unbeatable in a conventional war.
However, it's important to note that China is currently in a good position to challenge the United States. If they improve their economy and begin to rapidly modernise and build up their military, they may not be in a position to attack the United States, but they could very effectively defend and expand their own nation with the support of foreign powers such as Russia, which is also rapidly modernising it's military.
A military is as much a deterrence as any nuclear weapon. It can do things that nukes can't such as defend a country's territorial interests and, in the event of war, seize and defend this territory. If China modernised and improved it's military infrastructure, it could well be place in a position to not only deter but defeat a U.S. invasion on it's own soil. It would be able to expand without U.S. interference and, if the U.S. was weakened further in terms of allied support, infrastructure and lack of military spending, it could very well invade and defeat the U.S.
