Not exactly a fully weapon related thread, but has anyone here ever had success making an Airsoft field gun? Or some form of cannon that uses Pyrotechnics as a propellant?

Build a slightly up-scaled potato gun and use nerf footballs or a canister shot type setup.
For safety reasons you should only do indirect fire.
If it won't actually launch anything and is purely for effect you can just use propane, pvc pipe, an endcap, and a sparker.

In Russia we just use tanks and blank rounds. Buddy owns a working t72 just for airsoft. Next game in 2 months, 300 people, 13 armored vehicles 2 tanks. And you say airsoft is not weapons related.

On the subject of improvised cannons, if I wanted to make a breach loading junk gun using black powder as a propellant with probably a 3-4 inch bore about how thick would the chamber and barrel need to be?
Also, how legal on a scale of 1 to don't drop the soap would it be to make a shitty homemade cannon that can actually fire slugs?

When armor especially tanks are being used, hearing protection is mandatory. And there's safety briefings and shit too cause the blanks for a t72 or the 2 t90s that we use occasionally have a 100ft injury distance in front of the gun and 25ft too the side. And we shoot these motherfuckers right at people if we spot them so contracts are signed so you acknowledge the danger and can't sue if you get roasted. One guy already did, looked at him standing up then BOOOOM. He wasn't standing after that. He also had no hearing sight taste for several days.

Yeah simunitions are expensive, but at the point you are using multiple tanks wouldnt it be better to drop the tanks and use simunitions if you are going for a realistic experience? Not only does airsoft lack the feel and sound of real shooting, I'm sure having a tiny range really changes tactics you'd use.

Gas Blow Backs (GBB) are a lot more realistic. More of a recoil and no motors period.
