If you're running from someone and can actually reliably hit them in the leg then I don't think it would matter so long as it actually shoots.

What if, say, I'm cold blooded and act without panicking enough in that kind of situation for biosurvivability to kick, so I am able to incapacitate the attacker rather than unloading my gun into his torso, am I fucked too ?
