INFANTRYMEN OF /K/

Did you choose the Army or the Marine Corps, and why?
>>
>>29987813
Marines are the only real infantry, army is just boy scouts with guns.
>>
>>29987813

I chose the Royal Marines, in the process of joining, getting my medical after I phone the AFCO I believe.
>>
>>29987819
The corps is for people who weren't smart enough for the army and you guys get all our hand me downs
>>
Army, because i was garenteed infantry. Also i don't like being in water other than a pool or shower.
>>
>>29987813
Conscript, and Ground Forces
>>
>>29987853
Army also has a lower minimum ASVAB score for infantry than the USMC
>>
>>29987813
Army because I wanted decent training and equipment, not motarded mexicans.
>>
Army infantry.
>>
>>29987813
Army. Our navy and riverine forces are less funded and there's better room for promotion. Also, nothing is more beautiful than visiting the old ruins on a patrol.

Marines because I liked the higher standards of general toughness. Nothing against army bros, your culture just always seemed too relaxed for me to be comfortable with you guys having my back. I'd rather be in the company of crazy mother fuckers that live to kill if I'm going to combat.

None of it matters now though, did 2 MEUS and never got to play in the sandbox, just using that sweet GI Bill to get an AAS in Programming. Got a paid internship for the summer. Career monies soon.
>>
Army so I'd actually get to do stuff and not end up as a meatshield :>)
>>

>crazy mother fuckers that live to kill
>2 meus

just reading what you type makes me so glad I got out
>>
>>29988469

exact same thoughts here lol
>>
>>29987813
Marines, I literally flipped a coin when I decided between them or the army.
>>
>>29987813
Army is the correct choice.

Marines are a buncha president killing buddy fuckers.
>>
>>29987813
marine infantry was so pose to go with a friend but he shot a bb at cops and ran
>>
>>29987813
I'm planning to become a 12A for the Army. Grandfather served and was part of the 82nd Airborne, 3rd Battalion. He removed commies in Operation Powerpack and in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. Also, I'm trying to reestablish the military role model and culture that died with my grandfather whem he was murdered by his owm weapon. My brother is already a libtarded cuck and my mother is political idiotic. The last thing I need is their influence on my youngest cousin that was born from my based Uncle.

You, I like you. Branches can have friendly rivalry but don't need to be at each other's throats
>>
I joined the Marine Corps infantry.

Literally the only reason is because I made a pact with a friend when we were kids that I would do it, and I don't go back on my word.

It was OK. Had some fun times and some shit times. I have no animosity towards the Army. I like to think I'm one of the more level-headed and intelligent grunts, though.
>>
>>29989878
You'll come to find detailed that a lot of branches are like this.

I'm army and I talk shit about all the branches but I'd still have a beer with them.

Marines. I knew I wanted to be infantry, and the Marine Corps was always presented to me as the tougher of the two. Just seemed more prestigious, I guess. Not dogging the army, but I didn't want to go army, then spend the rest of my days feeling like I could have gone Marine, yet didn't. No regrets.

Question for infantry guys

>would you feel more camaraderie with a Infantryman of a different branch than a POG of your own branch?
>>
>>29990181
Absofucking-lutely.

Don't get me wrong as an 0311 I love all Marines.

But me and a Army airborne guy who also used to wrestle an m249 has more in common.
>>
>>29990181
Probably the POG, but not by much.
>>
>>29990181
This looks really familiar. Where you guys at here?
>>
>>29990241
>>29990219
I have a friend who was an 11b in the army and he said he literally could not stand talking to POGs because all they did was try to hype up their MOS to be as "badass" as combat arms. He said he was always cool with the marine infantry he came into contact with, even if he didnt agree with some of their tactics.

The Marines are for those smart enough and tough enough to do more with less.

The Army has to have the shiniest new toys and then still complains.
>>
>>29990257
Eh, it depends. The POG in my unit as support were okay. They knew they weren't infantry and they never put on like they were, for the most part. It's those salty admin faggots and bulk fuel cocksuckers who want to point to their crossed rifles and say "hurry durr, evri muhreen ah rifulman" everytime they get within half a mile of L street.

I work in an environment (pawn shop/gun store) where I come into contact with ALOT of vets, and honestly the non-combat MOS brag/bring it up way more than combat MOS. I even had one guy who apparently deployed to bagram (92r), and never left it come in and brag to my grandpa who was LRRP in vietnam about "all of the intense shit" he had seen in Afghanistan.

I have tons of stories like this. I really do not understand why these guys talk the loudest.

>pic is gramps in vietnam
>>
>>29987813
I chose Army. Grandpa was Army infantry in WWII. That's really the only reason. After I deployed and met Marine infantrymen, it really doesn't matter. Infantry is infantry, just different structures and equipment procurement (Army gets better stuff). Marine infantry are cool dudes though. The seasoned ones anyway. Their boots are worse than our cherries. If you like propaganda, go with Marines.

Be warned, bullshittery is strong in all infantry.
>>
>>29990257
I'm an 0311 on GI Bill.

I was lazy and thru on my Afghan/Iraq shirt because it was clean before class. Some dude with an parachute tab on his backpack walks up and says "Oorah devil".

>Are you fucking with me bro?

Lol no. We end up pregaming about ten beers on the back of his pickup truck. He was Airborne I was Marine Infantry. Talk shit to each other, drink, we both got separated because we both got laid. And both of us barely remember it.

Yeah real life isn't like the Internet. We are bros now.
>>
>>29990357
Your gramps was a badass. It's because of this generation of vets, honestly. Most are self indulgent faggots, deperate for recognition and pity. Everyone wants to be the damaged Hardcastle with a story to tell. In ww2, they came home e after 4 years, put away theuniform, got jobs, then tried their damndest to make our country great. Now they FB about their edgy sadness and smoke ptsd reefer with their service pitbulls, while jacking it to ranger up vids. I hate to say it,but the grunts become worse than the POGs when they get out.

I only know 2 guys who are infantry vets from the current middle east campaign and neither of them brig up their service to anyone. Of course this is just the two guys I know.

I also had a guy who was a army Radio Operator in Vietnam in 1972 look at another guy in the store who was a 0311 DURING KHE SANH and say that his deployment to some base in Saigon was more intense than the 0311. The marine literally looked at me and laughed and walked out of the store. Alot of the older combat vets do not talk about their experiences. I have talked to that 0311 dude a few times and have heard a few stories about khe sanh but he has said that alot of it he doesnt talk about because he has some pretty intense PTSD, and understandably so.

>another random image some other anon posted on here.

Buy me some beers then I start blabbing.

But I'll most likely tell stories that are funny instead of stories that involve death of friends. Unless that's truly what you desire. They were flesh and blood, is their death story really entertainment to you?

>>29990872
No, I really do not care what the story is. I just think its amazing to hear from people who were in combat in general. I never push for any story, I just kind of ask general questions and let them talk about whatever they want. One of my close friends had a friend die on deployment, and hes never spoke about it, and ive never asked him about it because I can only imagine the negative feels that would come along with that story.

>tfw gramps tells me one of the guys on his team killed a 10 year old who was pimping out his 16 year old siter
>tfw buddy tells me story of shitting off the side of a mountain in Afghanistan
>tfw 0311 guy tells me the story of getting his first shower after Khe Sanh

Most of the stories I hear are pretty light hearted and I still really enjoy them because its people who have lived life to the max, and experienced something only a very small amount of people have. At least thats how I look at combat vets.

Army.

Then I'll give you the condensed version:

>Was an 0311
>Smoked two bitches in Iraq, another in trashcanistan
>I feel nothing except extreme apathy

>Tfw you tell someone you were a vet
>Cool "ever kill someone?"

Ugh. The people I felt sorry for was the kids that got killed. Watched a 4year old girl die in front me. Saw a mother who got her fucking baby blasted out of her belly from a drone strike. You could see the blood trail of her trying to crawl to it...

I've been propositioned by goat people offering to accept money to fuck their 7 year old daughter. I've seen pedo Afghan dad's get beaten and rifle butted for offering it to my squad, I've participated.

I've seen hajjis slice off a man's dick and put it in his mouth as a warning to us, plus far far more.

I hate Arabs, and I don't care if that's political incorrect.
>>
>>29987813
0311 all the way.
>>
>>29991162
Ive never understood the timeless question of "did you ever kill somebody"? Its like people have no concept of just how deep that question can go. Weird thing is my friend who was 11b joined the army hating Muslims and Middle Easterners in general and after his deployment he became best friends with a middle easterner who was in his unit, as well as one of his terps. It had the opposite effect on him.

Although every vietnam vet I have talked to fucking hates gooks to this day.
>>
>>29990257

I actually work with like three Vietnam Veterans and know two more from shooting clubs, and I'm a Oriental sunofabitch.

I'm not a short Vietnamese FOB though, so that may be why I get along great, plus I like history which comes in handy referencing stuff that said old vets actually LIVED through, not just the war. And I also don't act like an entiled Bernie worshipping millenial SJW either.

So that might be why I'm been off the hook.

so I went to Afghanistan and got blew up a bunch of times. and hiked so fuckin much that I shrunk 2 inches and have a bad back, hip, knees, ankles, wrist, and probably mild brain damage (from all the explosions.)

all because I run my mouth when I drink too much and am too proud to back down.

Oh shit.

My roommate used to do barracks tats. My room was an official tattoo parlor. But he had a professional set up and was actually pretty good. One guy even brought his wife to get one (not a motto tat, flowers or some shit).

Myself I've never gotten one.

you stupid fucking faggot, were you a Marine? No? I was, and we dealt with all that shit. SHARP briefings every goddamn way during my me time. Not being able to do anything but heap praise upon wooks and subpar dark green Marines and all that or else you get spoken to by people you don't want to talk to.

No PC bullshit? Whoever you spoke to is likely a stupid fucking boot riding the wave of bootcamp motardation, let them hit them fleet and have their asshole molded into the world's finest impression of the mariana trench by everybody else and then we'll see what your high fade tracksuit and jungle wearing boot fucking faggot friend has to say about our Marine Corps

Army because my father and grandfather were both Army infantrymen, my great grand-father was in the Army Air Corps.

My ancestors served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution, so really it's all tradition.
