Are we any closer to having a single uniform across all services /k/? Or are the Joint Chiefs somehow resisting this change?
>>
>>29986004
>that ranger tab
TRIGGERED

It won't happen anytime soon at least, I can see the marines keeping their current camo for another 10 or so years at least, all other branches are sometimes allowed to use a multicam derivative when working with the army, that's about as close as we'll see for a while.
>>
>>29986004
Muhreens resist the idea of looking like anything like the army since they are a bunch of special snowflakes.
>>
>>29986004
The Air Force and Marines are living evidence that nothing will ever be unified. They are so unnecessary that they needed congress to make sure the Army didn't absorb them.
>>
>>29986004
No and it isn't really necessary.
>>
No, they all want to feel unique cause they're all special snowflakes
>>
>>29986088
Service dress is one thing but besides that navy and af are pretty flexible depending on who they're working with. I believe corpsman wear marpat and af usually wears ocp oconus.
>>
>>29986004
Everyone should wear multicam (scorpion) as default. Woodland Marpat for forest, AOR2 for jungles, desert marpat for deserts, ucp for the moon. Have them (combat gear only not garrison) stockpiled and special issued per deployment.
>>
>>29986043
Word. Forma muhreen. Don't want to like those dweebs.
>>
>>29986110
Wow, what a MASSIVE waste of money that would be. Tell me, why should every soldier have that many uniforms?
>>
>>29986004
heeeeey that's my unit
>>
>>29986581
Soldier here.

We shouldn't.

Honestly we need to adopt the Marine camo patterns and blouse style and go back to BDU-cut pants.
>velcro fucking sucks, for everything. Pockets, rank, insignia, everything.
>ACU material, despite being thinner and lighter than summer-weight BDU's, breathes worse and dries slower, plus rips much more easily
>winter-weight (the 100% cotton non-ripstop ones) were fucking horrible. Seriously, fucking all-cotton uniforms? In a uniform made SPECIFICALLY for cold/wet climates?
>BDU summer-weight patrol cap. Fuck the triple-thick ACU PC, fuck the Marines' weird-ass angle cap
>fuck UCP, fuck the AF's cloud-tiger, fuck AOR, fuck AOR2
>fuck non-rolled sleeves in the summer

1 style of uniform, 2 camo patterns.

By the time I got out I had:
>summer weight BDU
>winter weight BDU
>summer weight 3-color desert
>winter weight 3-color desert (whyyyy?)
>green 1 piece flight suit
>tan 1 piece flight suit
>ACU
>FRACU
>tan 2 piece flight suit
>UCP 2 piece flight suit
>OCP
>OCP 2 piece flight suit
>3 different colors of boots
And I couldn't mix any of them.
>>
>>29986098
>corpsmen wear MARPAT
depends on the role they're serving. If they're stuck at a CASH or onnaship they wear AOR2. If they're innafield with a platoon they wear MARPAT. Pretty fucked up that they have to maintain like 4 different complete sets of uniform (including dress uniform).
>AF usually wears OCP oconus
Only their SOF guys even get it. Standard SP's and any other AF guy that's on the ground is wearing their cloud-tiger. Which, considering 99% of the time they're around soldiers, is kind of a "meh, close enough" deal since it's at least the same color palette to UCP.

Also, Seabees are still wearing 3-color desert BDU's, which makes them very...obvious. Especially when they're somewhere fucking tropical, like Panama.

Also also, my very last deployment our AF TACP (who was assigned at the fucking squadron level and literally never left a 300ft radius around our TOC) got issued fucking Kryptec gear. Only military personnel in the whole fucking area with it. And since TACP's wear sterile uniforms he was with us like 4 months before anyone other than the battle captain even knew he wasn't a contractor.

>>

Corpsman attached to Infantry only wear marine marpat. Even when they are at sick bay.

The only time you saw doc in a proper Navy uniform was when he put on his cracker jacks for the Marine Corps Ball.
>>
>>29986681
>winter weight 3-color desert (whyyyy?)

Confirmed never been inna desert during winter
>>
A few years back when I was still inna Muhreens we all really wished for some new camo pattern on our cammies. But yeah, I doubt those in power want the Marines looking anything like the Army. I wouldn't have minded though. Our 8 point covers are different and we roll sleeves, so we'd still be distinguishable.
>>
>>29986004
I think this would probably the most universally praised uniform choice on /k/.

>>

Speaking strictly about a utility uniform, it's beyond idiotic why each service has it's own silly camo pattern and uniform. It's nothing but playing dress up. I can't fathom why we let it go on
>>

What!!??!!

Name a Marine that didn't love his Marpat. I'm guessing you're a damn pog concerned about fashion, or a top class troll because you actually pissed me off.

Just banting. Yeah my deserts are pretty salt dog status.

So salty after a 3 day convoy of eating nothing but MRE's I got kicked out of a chow hall at TQ because i got in line, and a fucking 2 Star was right in front of me. He told me and my buddy "our uniforms were unbecoming and as Marines we needed to dress accordingly". Told us to leave and basically unfuck ourselves.. it was 9:30 tho, no way we'd make it back in time so we waited lurking in the shadows for 2 Star dickbag to leave.

When we went back in all the chow hall ladies who saw that dick kick us out felt super bad for us and hooked us up with extra everything.

That's my blog post for the day.

why would we have single uniforms across the branches? even if it's just for utility, it would be insanely expensive and difficult to manufacture a BDU/cammies to suit the needs of Navy, Marines, Army and Air Force.

>perhaps you haven't heard of the F-35 joint strike fighter?
^this is exactly what happens when too much is demanded from a single item, the performance will be lackluster at best and will constantly have problems.

hell, even just look at the standard issue assault rifle used by the services. There are dozens of different variants and hundreds of different configurations.

platform specialization is where its at if you want the best tool possible for the job. Cost is pretty irrelevant when you're dealing with a $600 Billion annual operating budget plus god knows how much congress agrees to allocate for procurement (probably atleast another $200 billion)
>>

all the other branches are just as retarded for following the example and having their own special uniform. The Army and Air Force could have done something right and adopt the same uniform but no, they adopted the worst pattern ever made by mankind and then realized it was shit a decade later, replaced it with multicam, and then replaced multicam with something thats only slightly different. fokof m8.

literally all of these things are difficult as hell on their own. Combining them is retarded.

I dont even know why I posted in this thread, i just came on /k/ to see zimmerman updates and got distracted by military wannabes that probably got denied so instead they buy tons of guns, military surplus and sit on /k/ acting autistic about matters they haven't got the faintest fuckin clue

Marine and army along with af and navy could easily be rolled together for their needs, I think marpat is actually a bit cheaper than acu/ucp to produce.
>>

Is there an AFI on stateside OCP wear? 36-2903 doesn't mention it and reporting instructions for deployment locations seem to be the only other thing that mentions OCP wear. Can AFSOC troops buy their own OCP and wear it if they are not issued? I'm at an AMC base so its rare I see it being worn outside of Army.
>>
>>29990094

speaking as officer aircrew, 3/4 of the reason i don't want the rest of you faggots wearing the bags is that you'd figure out ways to gay it up. we'd be wearing the fucking McPeak flightsuit if it was up to Chiefs, and they'd be pressed and starched and i'd have to get new ones just as i've gotten them nice and comfy.

and i'm taking time out of a standard day to correct a pay issue when my schedule is to rally at 0900 for a 1300 flight that gets back at 1530 and debriefs until 1800... you fuckers at finance can send some people out on evening shifts or something so i can get paid my BAH.

i can't speak to the heavy drivers out there but the only non-AFI modification to my flight suits are cutting the knife pocket.

like i get that these enlisted dudes want to go out and safe the world but they really should follow and not disagree with an officers decision even if it is wrong, which it isn't in this case.

The risk of losing the whole bird, 2 pilots, and 3 crew to a taliban trap or careless disregard for high IED risk potential is sooo not worth a single soldier, even if it was an American.

The officer made the correct decision and piece of shit 22 year old mcfuck face is trying to make him second guess himself which can cause the officer to make a bad decision in the future where people will get killed.

>manufactured pride

It's called history, and honor.

> There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.
- Gen. William Thornson, U.S. Army

> Hell, these are Marines. Men like them held Guadalcanal and took Iwo Jima. Bagdad ain't shit.
- Marine Major General John F. Kelly

> The safest place in Korea was right behind a platoon of Marines. Lord, how they could fight!
- MGen. Frank E. Lowe, USA; Korea, 26 January 1952

> Why in hell can't the Army do it if the Marines can. They are the same kind of men; why can't they be like Marines.
- Gen. John J. "Black Jack" Pershing, USA; 12 February 1918

> Marines know how to use their bayonets. Army bayonets may as well be paper-weights.
- Navy Times; November 1994

> I have just returned from visiting the Marines at the front, and there is not a finer fighting organization in the world!
- General of the Armies Douglas MacArthur; Korea, 21 September 1950

> I am convinced that there is no smarter, handier, or more adaptable body of troops in the world.
- Prime Minister of Britain, Sir Winston Churchhill

I could fucking go on, but I think the message is clear: you POGs on here need to recognize The Marines as the one true pure military branch. America's own Spartans.

All this military branch rivalries is such bullshit, but I just treat it like street gangs. Also Airforce is the best since they in charge of the Stargate program and can meet aliens.

While I think fighter jets and bombers and even transports and logistics can be rolled into WW2 era Army Air Corps, Navy Air Corps and Marine Aircorps.

Missiles and communications sats should still be it's own branch.

Though I don't think it will cut down on the number of pussy chairforcemen who enlist and can say they are military veterans even if they did nothing AirForce related.
>>
Don't USAF nuke guys wear the OCP? Like the missile field SF in Minot, etc?
>>
>>29986004
No. There is no coming back from ACU.

Why are you nearly Russia tier when it comes to uniforms? There are so many... Only good thing is that you don't mix then the same way Russians do.
>>
>>29990330
The army does it too some times, RL1 patches are a thing.

Point is, flight suits are like pajamas and are super comfy. If I could never wear ACUs again, I'd be happy.

Also I can DX old flight suits and get new ones for free.

>>29990345
All maintainers (even back shops) are entitled to 1 set in the army. You just have to go to CIF and ask for it.
>>
>>29990696
You can mix sewn and velcro on the PC, just not on your ACU top. You must be new.
>>
>>29995835
Yes, Missile base SF and AFSOC seem to be the only stateside OCP wear at the moment
>>
>>29996662
This. Had to have sewn on real for PC, uniform was still Velcro though.
>>
>>29998683
You can have sewn name and pin rank on your pc.
