Ok OPs pic gave me a crazy weird idea.

Do they make .22lr(not magnum) "defense" ammo?

I ask because my 10/22 and my actual HD pistol are in differant locations. Is there any ammo i can load one mag with to keep with the 10/22 just incase it's closer?

If you cant defend your home with a .22, you're not a man.
You could defend yourself with a bat or club right?

A high capacity carbine in .22 is one of the best home defense weapons.
In the majority of home invasions, as soon as shots are fired, perps will flee.
.22 isn't gonna deafen you as badly without earpro
getting shot fucking hurts.
getting shot 8-9 times in rapid succession really fucking hurts
less chance of going to ass-pound town for murderin a good boy who dindu nuffin wrong
less chance of over penetration
easy to practice with
easy(er) to hit a target with in high stress situation
minimal recoil
>>
>>29974291
>If you cant defend your home with a .22,

I can and im kinda planning on it as a backup.

My only question is ammo choice.

All those are what is suspected.

Speaking of quieter, you can suppress .22lr to mousefart levels, and 10/22s with 50 round drums exist.

If i have to pick either a .44 mag revolver or a quiet 10/22 with 50 rounds on tap, I'll pick the 10/22 any day

>wont rupture eardrums when fired in a hallway
>can get off 10 accurate shots in the time it takes to shoot two with the .44
>a bunch of pea sized holes riddling your chest will kill you just the same as one plum sized one.

That being said the perfect gun for home defense would be something like th AS val.

>quiet yet resonably powerfull
>full retard

>A high capacity carbine in .22 is one of the best home defense weapons.
It's passable if you have nothing else, and it can kill a guy if you have to, but it's not even remotely ideal.

>In the majority of home invasions, as soon as shots are fired, perps will flee.
While true, what if they don't?

>.22 isn't gonna deafen you as badly without earpro
You're shooting a gun indoors regardless, it's gonna ring the shit out of your ears.
I'd rather have a handgun or carbine in .45ACO or 9mm Luger (loaded with subsonics), and then look at filing a form for a silencer at a later time.

>getting shot fucking hurts.
getting shot 8-9 times in rapid succession really fucking hurts
Not if the guy is on meth.

>less chance of over penetration
Literally not a risk with 00 buck or .223 either, and even so, that's what hollowpoints are for.

>easy to practice with
>easy(er) to hit a target with in high stress situation
>minimal recoil
This all applies to an AR-15, which is infinitely more reliable and an order of magnitude better at killing.

Ranger T is kind of mediocre IMO, but they work.

>>29974414
>you can suppress .22lr to mousefart levels
You can suppress .380ACP, 9mm Luger, .45ACP and .300BLK to hearing safe levels and they'll have significantly superior terminal ballistics to .22LR

If you want quiet, then .22 Short is hearing safe without a suppressor.

>>29975231
Heard they're gonna make a .22LR conversion kit.
>>
>>29974291
Ideally in home defense you want to kill the intruders. They have a nasty tendency to sue if they survive.
>>
>>29974414
Also

>a bunch of pea sized holes riddling your chest will kill you just the same as one plum sized one

PENETRATION, you dense fuck, by your logic, birdshot would perform better than buckshot or a slug.

.22LR is better out of a rifle barrel than a pistol barrel, but;
>is easily slowed down by clothing
>doesn't penetrate ribs or bones well
>often fails to penetrate deep enough at any rate
>inherently unreliabe priming
>>
>>29975133
This, if he breaks into your house and you kill him, you're way less likely to get sued than if he survives and takes you to court.

Anon probably thinks pumping a shotgun for intimidation is a good idea
>>
>>29971631
I agree, it's a tiny lightweight round that you can carry a lot of, like. 22lr but it hits a bit above its weight class.

Its probably the perfect survivalist round if you're into that kind of thing.

But very Inpractical, for a 32 pistol it's big, for a sub gun it's innacurate, 32 isn't a great round vs 9, 38, or 40. God I want one really bad but it's hardly a fantastic gun in semi auto.

semi auto rpk of any type, speaking from experience
>too heavy for what it is and the cartridge it shoots
>big and awkward, even with stock folded
>bipod screws with poi downrange depending what position it's in
>did I mention it's way too heavy?
>>29975231
That gun is actually pretty useful to me, I haul it with me on the farm a lot in a psl magazine pouch. It's not all that big compared to anything similar, and it's a great shooter.
I can give it an actual pistol grip and shoot very accurately with it since it has a fairly long sight radius for a handgun, or you can use the mag grip which allows you to take super fast snap shots at stuff and hold it steady for repeat shots. I feel like I should be more stable & accurate shooting with the mag grip, but a regular pistol grip gets me much better accuracy when I actually reach out further.

More like $1700. AUGs can be had for around that too. The FS2000, no longer imported, goes for around $2000 now (or more). The RFB around $1550.
>>
>>29978203
MSRP for the MDR (at the moment) is supposed to be $1950 for the 5.56 version and $2200 for the 308. So assuming regular MSRP rules apply, it'll be around the same price as other 5.56 bullpups.

What makes a man? I bet you can't even answer that.

None the less I prefer stopping power. If some dindu with a 9mm comes in my house and we start shooting each other. Will he drop right away while I'm shooting him with a 22lr? Most likely not. We both die or I die there, and he lives in the emergency room.

I use my 5.56 for home defense because the fragmentation of that creates very powerful wounds that can drop an attacker instantly.

Sometigng tells me this is some poster from bogland or some poor guy trying to make an excuse for why his 22 is better
