What's the best way of getting rid of the moldy/mildewy/musty odor from old milsurp canvas stuff?
>>
>>29958336
You're supposed to embrace that smell
>>
>>29958336
Replace it with your body odor.
>>
How evil would a smoke grenade that burned a radioactive isotope be?
>>

>>
>>29958336

>>
>>29958519
Have you had luck with this?

I soaked a mag pouch and sling for 4 hours in a 50:50 vinegar:water mix, then washed it in cold water and air dried it. (Afraid to use any amount of heat to try to avoid shrinkage.)

Literally makes your fingers still stink for hours after handling it.
>>
>>29958547
Works for musty clothes and towels left in the blind, I am assuming it should work well for canvas as well.
>>
>>29958506
It is simply an inanimate object. It is neutral on the good/evil scale.
Who uses it and how it is used determines the evility.
>>
Let it air out in the sun for a few days. Then bring it in an air conditioned room, it'll go away to no smell.
>>
>>29958336
Douse it in unscented automotive febreese.

Or man up. It smells like that, get used to it. Because no matter what you do a few weeks of use it'll smell like canvas again.

So, what is with that bullcrap about .45acp pistols having low capacity? From 15 to 19 is a negligible amount.

>>
>>29958336

Air, sunlight and time.. As 29958634 mentioned.
>>
>>29958811
15 rounds of 45 is rare, most full size double stack 45s will have 10-13 in the mag, whereas a subcompact or compact 9mm can have the same capacity or more all while being easier to conceal/live with every day.
>>
Im in the market to buy my first handgun, so i went to a range and rented a bunch of guns to try out. I tried;

>> s&w m&p 9mm
>> kimber custom II 1911 .45 acp
>> beretta 92fs 9mm

>> fn fal .308
>> beretta px4 storm 5.56

At 7 yards with the 2 9mms i was getting roughly 6" groups, but with the .45 i made 5 different 3" groups (at 7 yards also). Is there any obvious reason for that, or could it be that the 9mms were worn out and the .45 was new? They all had iron sights.

Are fals usually jam-o-matics? I bought 20 rounds and it jammed 3 times on me.

Could all of my problems stem from filthy guns? I watched them put all of the guns back in the glass cases hot and dirty, so i can only assume they dont get cleaned often.

Thanks /k/ommandos

I bet the accuracy difference came down to trigger control. It is a lot harder to fuck up the break with a ~4lb 1911 trigger.

As for malfunctions, filth and lack of general maintenance on wear components coupled with the high round counts rental guns see can cause a host of issues.

I suppose that would make sense, I couldnt make a grouping at a magnet convention with the m&p shield. The group was consistantly low.

The 92fs was the first one i tried, so i was a little nervous. that probably had a lot to do with that one. My groupings were a bit better than with the shield though, possibly from the da/sa.

Any enfield owners on here? When I run the bolt home on my no1 mk3 to chamber it, the bolt handle dosent lock down the same way it does if the chamber is empty. Also extracting the case is hard a bitch.

I've lubed the bolt but I'm fearing I might need a new bolt head. Advice?

Sounds like you have to tight of headspacing.
Call the gunshops in your area and see if they can check it for you. If they cant you can always order headspace gauges yourself to check.

I'm sure this has been asked by someone before, but what are the legal requirements for manufacturing my own flare gun?

what if I was a little safety conscience and wanted to make a single shot, break action flare gun but be able to withstand severe multitudes of pressure beyond what a flare can produce, like say ~14,000 psi in the breach. would that be legal?
>>
>>29959996
The extractor seems to work. Once you muscle the case out it's retained till the rim hits the ejector.

>>29959992
I can get gauges. Assuming it is the headspace, what's the fix? Shorter bolt head? Leave it with the gunsmith?

The ATF classifies anything over 40 mm as a destructive device. Keep it 37 mm and below and you should be alright as long as you don't start selling them.

Anything over 50 cal is a DD. Flare guns are exempt because they are signalling devices, not weapons. The second you fire any anti personnel round from them they become a DD. Even being found with the rounds and a complete launcher will land you in shit.

Is this something I should be worried about? These are unfired rounds. They are in my HD gun (N-PAP) and I have been cycling them through the gun repeatedly (I unload the gun whenever I leave the house).

Left two rounds are the problems, right two are from further down the magazine so they haven't been chambered.

>>29961038
Exactly what is causing it? Is the firing pin stuck? Too long?
>>
>>29961049
Floating firing pin. Just save yourself the $0.60 and stop rechambering those rounds.

And stop constantly chambering rounds at all. Either leave your shit loaded and trust it, or leave it unloaded.
>>
>>29961071
When I say "constantly" I just mean once or twice a day. I guess I'll just leave it with an empty chamber from now on. Also, I will disassemble the bolt tomorrow and see if there is any gunk stuck.

I appreciate your input, but I would like some more views about it.

>>
>>29961147
Well shit, I didn't know that was an uncommon thing.

It's also probably pretty bad that I consider it my home defense gun and I haven't shot it in over six months.
>>
>>29961010
It's normal. Ak has a free floating firing pin and Russian ammo has really fucking hard primers. Cycle them as much as you want. It takes like 30 lbs of pressure to set off one of those military primers. That's alot BTW. The indet from cycling them is normal. Happens to ar-15s too.
>>
>>29961186
>It takes like 30 lbs of pressure to set off one of those military primers. That's alot BTW. The indet from cycling them is normal. Happens to ar-15s too.

>aren't military rounds
Uh, it says ARMY right on them! :^)
Even if they aren't what do you think would be required to set them off?
>>
>>29961209
It's fucking steel cased Russian ammo. You really fucking think they arnt going to use the same fucking primers they already made millions of and have the tooling setup to make. Why would they go out of there way to make softer primers for export plinking ammo? Dumbass. It's russian mil spec ammo.
>>
>>29961238
>Uh, it says ARMY right on them! :^)

Because Russian surplus would be written in English, right? Those are Red Army Standard rounds- that's a company.

>Even if they aren't what do you think would be required to set them off?

I'd be more concerned about the constant chambering/dechambering causing setback between the bullet and the case. That's what causes glocknades.
>>
>>29961255
It's actually made in Ukraine, and the primers are not the same as surplus. This is why you don't have the corrosion issues with commercial rounds that you get with surplus.

I own like 5 ak's and have shot thousands of rounds of 7.62x39 over the years. The point I'm trying to make is the primers are just as hard as the military spec primers and the primer will not detonate from the enertia of chambering a round and the firing pin putting a little indent on the primer. Not even soft primers like CCI have done this to me with 7.62x39 reloads I have made. That shit just don't happen unless you have a sks with a plogged up Cosmo filled firing pin. The chances of a slam fire in a ak is extremely unlikely
>>
>>29961327
It's unlikely, but there is no reason to tempt it by continually chambering and unchambering the same round over and over.

Also, the setback issue.

For the loss of $0.60, I'd just toss the rounds to error on the side of safety.
>>
>>29961352
Yeah, the setback round is just a drawer piece that I look at every once in a while. I don't ever shoot steel cased ammo (range doesn't allow it) which is why this problem happens.

So what is the deal with Schrade?

I've heard a lot of good things about them lately and while I know their products will most likely never be as good as they were back in the American-Made days ( I still have my Old Timer from when I was a child ( was my first knife 20+ years ago ) I admit to being curious enough about their products that I'm considering buying one. Have they fixed a lot of their issues with the manufacturing plants or do they have a marketing campaign going that is just bringing good results?

inb4 "nobody says good shit about schr-" I'll post a little of what I've heard

>They are starting to pass Becker/Ka-Bar in quality ( saw that posted here on 4chan, irked me )
>The full-tang knives with the hollow handles hold up well to use/abuse
> Large variety ( I'll admit I was actually impressed when I visited their website and found image related; was recently looking for a knife w/ glassbreaker and either a strap cutter or partially serrated edge under 2.49 inches for edc ) of fixed blade/folding knives, pens, and other products.

So really; is New-Schrade still making bad products and just doing well with marketing or are they starting to put out some quality, Chink-made items?

the bullet is not seated correctly which means it might not chamber correctly- dont shoot it.

What's a good pocket holster for my LCP? Is the $15 one on Rugers site any good?

Gotcha, thanks. Maybe I shouldn't cycle my JHPs as much as I do.

Even self defense rounds are like $1.50 on the high end. What is your gun/the hospital bills of getting shrapnel out of your eyes worth?

My thoughts exactly. Not worth trying

Any Americans here been through the AROTC? How much do you get paid for the summer course/camp? My fiancé will have bills to pay while I'm gone

I'm sure it is fine for front pocket use.
I prefer the wallet style or the ones that at least have a rectangular panel so they could kinda look like a wallet if they do print. Good for front or back pocket.

Already got a 9, searching for another handgun

What is more fun to shoot? .40 or .45? Won't buy both. .40 is kinda more powerful but I reload and .45 is kinda better to reload

Quick question about AR-15 ammo and uppers.
So from what I understand,
.223 upper can only shoot .223
5.56 upper can shoot .223 and 5.66
223 Wylde upper can shoot .223 (rem & wylde) AND 5.56

Just to clarify, can 5.56 be shot out of a .223 Wylde upper? I've come across a lot of conflicting info.
>>
>>29979804
>can 5.56 be shot out of a .223 Wylde upper
yes
>>
>>29979804
Correct, .223 Wylde is designed to shoot both with better stability across a larger range of ammunition.
>>
>>29979494

Forget .40. Gotta throw away 2/3 of the brass you find since some /k/ommando shot it through a glawk.

>inb4 the "bulge buster" crap

45 is more better anyway, in all respects except some mag capacity.

Want to buy an air rifle to shoot mice and pidgeons.
Cannot use a gun because it is illegal to shoot one inside the city limits unless for SD.
Do not want to use other means because I want to shoot them.

Is there a way to add some poison to the lead so even if I use a 4,5mm air rifle that will probably just pierce all the way through without dissipating energy in a pidgeon it kills it fast?
>>
>>29981318
Have you never hunted pests/vermin before?

>adding poison to lead

Well, if you must, you could try:
curare
rubbing the pellets on a frog
learning to shoot

Bureaucracy is an inherent part of being in the military.

That said, the Coast Guard tends to weed out the retards, and they don't have enough money for a really bad bureaucracy.
>>
>>29981318
That's retarded for two reasons
1. Poison doesn't work like that
2. A flat tip or HP .17 or .22 pellet will kill the shot out a rabbit, so it'll definitely kill the ever loving shit out of a pigeon

Poison isn't sporting. All you'd have to do is put a fatal dose of nicotine or rat powder on bird seed if you wanted to cheeki breeki a flying rat population

My brother just bought an LCP Custom. Are there any aftermarket sights available for it? He'd like night sights, and you'd think some would be available, but all I can find on the subject is people at the gun's launch saying "I can't wait for night sights to become available".
>>
>>29981400
There are several brands of tritium glowpaint available.
>>
>>29981398
>2. A flat tip or HP .17 or .22 pellet will kill the shot out a rabbit
Maybe if using some PCP air rifle. Not for some springer with low joule muzzle energy.

>1. Poison doesn't work like that
Indians used poison to shoot things and kill them, why can't a pellet be infused with poison?
>>
>>29981443
>tritium
>paint

Nope.

What's available is shitty luminescent paint that requires charging with bright light before it glows for a short time. The LCP Custom comes with that shit already applied. It's useless.
>>
>>29975054
I'm pretty late, but thank you!
>>
>>29981498
Then buy a real air rifle idiot
>>
>>29981939
This. Even a daisy 880 powerline will fire off a pellet at North of 700fps and costs all of 60 bucks. A moderate quality piston pellet rifle will shoot a .17 at 1200+ fps and a .22 at 900+

>inb4 I'm a filthy euroshit who is trying to kill pigeons with a red Ryder because pellet rifles are restricted in my socialist shithole
Then you're shit out of luck, enjoy the muzziepocalipse faggot.
>>
>>29962808
Disintegration of shrapenel gives it a larger hazard zone WAY outside the effective zone. A 40Mike is (in general, intended use) going to be a lot farther away from the user than that of a fragmenting hand grenade.

The more i read on blowout kits and treatment of gunshot wounds the more i worry.

My question is if SHTF and you get shot, you fill wound with gauze, tourniquet and pressure bandage, you still have no doctor! what do?

TLDR how do you survive bullet wound with no doctor and just a blow out kit.
>>
>>29983042
Oh and if i missed anything in the first response to stopping up a wound let me know. My info is straight from the internet.
>>
>>29983042
You die, first aid is to get to a doctor.
>>
>>29983356
>not stocking up on piscine antibiotics
>>
>>29983381
I have that, but do wounds like that heal on their own after you remove the gauze and tourniquet?
>>
>>29983550
Improperly used tourniquet can result in pt death upon tourniquet removal, and not necessarily from further blood loss.

Healing depends upon the wound. Intestines dangling outside of the abdominal wall will be more complicated than a shot-off ear lobe.
>>
>>29983577
Yea i heard that about tourniquets.

The average through and through in a arm, leg or torso (imply you survive) what do you do next?

Everything i found is basically "see a doctor"
>>

Hypothetical question.

Lets say I have a piece of metal registered as a machinegun before the registry was closed.

If I weld it to a Sten tube can I make a full auto Sten?

i put some wd40 on it, and now it moves forward every few shots, making sighting it an absolute waste of time. is there anyway to fix this?

That piece of metal will be registered with details like original manufacturer, model, caliber, length stated on the Form 4.

If the details on the Form 4 still match, yes.

If changed significantly, no.

You can't cut out the serial number on a trashed mac 10 and weld it onto a M2 receiver to build your own madeuce.
