>>
That's ok, I can go get one at Cabela's for $2500!
>>
They're not out, they're just catching up with their backlog of orders. They do this occasionally when they get far enough behind. They'll be back in a month or two, tops.
>>
>>29936101
Had to check for myself and fuck the special grade is out too. FUCK NO. I was gonna head up there and shop around the store next week. I've been lazy and putting it off since October.
>>
>>29936354
>Tfw on my phone so no smug anime face/Pepe to post in agreement
>>
Does anyone else think it's crazy that these things haven't been made in any appreciable number since the 1950s and the government STILL has some in stock? It puts the scale of WWII into perspective.
>>
>>29936370
Stores should still have stock.

Bummer. I already have the range membership, I just needed proof of participation in a competition.
>>
>>29936394
These will be $3k on the secondary market within months now
>>
>>29936385
WW2 was 1/4th of the planet literally fighting to survive until 1946. Your typical human can barely comprehend the scale.
>>
>>29936414
Maybe in the extreme short term. They won't actually be out of stock until late 2016/early 2017.
>>
>>29936430
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEJ8lpCQbyw
>>
>>29936368
Basically this.
>>
Fuck me I was planning on sending them my stuff next week....

Just wish I had money and time to make the 8 hour drive to Camp Perry.
>>
>>29936440
So they're projected to be out of stock by the end of this year?
>>
>>29936485
Actual projection from the CMP is early 2017, so I'd say get one before Christmas when they go back up. Alternatively, make your way to either the north or south store. I still regret not going to the south store when I was stationed at Ft. Benning but it was out of the travel radius for 98% of the time I was there.
>>
Sold out just means that they haven't processed any more.

When they are actually out, they'll send email blast telling people so. It'll be a huge deal, and they'll have to find another way to fund their programs. Their new range, that's quite pricey to shoot at, isn't going to cover much.
>>
>>29936515
Hopefully Trump and a Republican Congress will clean up some of the funlaws and allow milsurp M16s to be sold via CMP.
>>
>>29936515
They'll have a fairly large stock of 1911's to sell but I don't think that will hold them over for too long. Actually, did that deal ever happen? I know they were authorized to acquire them, but I didn't hear if they ever did anything further than announce rough pricing estimates.
>>
Do you have to jump through all the hoops if you order from the brick'n'mortar store?
>>
>>29936539

The Secretary of the Army has to sign off on the transfer, but ever since the bill to allow the CMP to sell the pistols there hasn't been a Secretary of the Army, just an Acting Secretary who either doesn't want to or isn't allowed to sign..
>>
>>29936101

sigh, I mailed my order in for a service grade 3 weeks ago
>>
>>29936573
That's incredibly fucking gay. GG Obama.
>>
Well time to go to cmp south before the gun show flippers get the remaining store stock.
>>
So, if I sent in an order form for a service grade now, would they process the order as soon as they put them up again?
>>
>>29936802
The order wouldn't be processed.
>>
>>29936802
they will return you paperwork and you will need to resubmit when in stock
>>
I saw this on the CMP site. Fuck, I was hoping to put in an order in the next couple of weeks. Guess I'll just save up some more and put in the order whenever they come up again.

I hope >>29936368 is right and I can fulfill my ping dream in a month or so.
>>
>>29936511
Sounds like you had a no funs plt sgt. Mine would give us passes if we could justify why. I feel getting a piece of military history would be acceptable for most.
>>
>>29937453
It was more that we were on red status for Northcom QRF, and our BC/1SG were both huge chodes. My PLT SGT was super cool, but BC mandated any passes had to go through him. Guess who got passes and who didn't? Officers and senior enlisted, or the junior enlisted that worked in the training room got them. Gun line? Fuck us.

>>
Is 7.62 Ping any good compared to 30-06 Ping?
>>
>>29937612
I have both

its the same rifle. shoots just as good. goes ping.

walmart occasionally has 800rnd bulk lake city 7.62x51nato for less than cmp M2 Ball price per round. i shoot my .308 ping more than my ot six ping.

It's a crying shame that so many 1911s, carbines, Garands, ect got destroyed instead of surplussed

Still haven't run out of Operation Downfall Purple Hearts after 70 years and two decades of Vietnam/Middle East fuckery.

Fffffffffffffuck. I hope they come back. I've been selling some AR stuff to fund buying one. Going to be one of my next purchases.

/k/ has been telling everyone do to it for YEARS. How many people were actually even took advantage of the /k/lub; Free eligibility when service grades were just 625 each?
>>

I did. /k/ was right.
>>
>>29936101
LOL

3 M1's
2 Carbines
1 M14

All restored, and one of the M1's is tricked out for match shooting.

and the only one I actually like is the M14

The CMP has been running off the greek returns for almost 10 years now. They only received around 100,000 Garands total from the US during the MAP. Turkey still has a potential 300,000 rifles. A mix of Garands, Carbines, and bolt rifles. No one knows the condition of these rifles overall, but some servicemen have seen Turkish soldiers carrying them occasionally and have reported them being in pretty rough shape. Of course, these reports could be the exception and it's possible that the majority of the rifles were rarely used like the Greek returns, but probably pretty unlikely judging by the condition of other cold war era firearms that have been imported from the area (G3 kits etc). Regardless, the sooner you can get one, the better.

Good news, just a big backlog. Who knows when they'll be back up, but they still have Garands
>>
>>29943100
There's still the Garands in S.Korea if the executive order is ever overturned. And around 700k carbines?
>>
>>29945342
Those have nothing to do with CMP, as they are not lend lease. Century were the ones set to import them until obummer
>>
>got my Garand for $750 at my LGS

I'm ok.
>>
Listing my 1955 dated H&R M1 for the low low price of $3000. Get it while it lasts! THEY'RE GONE FOREVER!
>>
>>29945307

Does this mean I could go to one of the shops and pick one up instead of waiting for them to show "in stock" again?
>>
>>29945990
You could, but what I've heard from the south store reports, the only things left are the special grades and M1Cs and M1Ds
>>
Sarco has bm59's for sale.
>>
>>29947885
They have kits and parts
>>
Dad bought me one for Christmas this year.
Springfield with a new stock
Serial No. Is a little past 3 mil (Summer 1944 I believe)

>>
>>29939436
$625? Holy shit, mine was $300, I think. Might have been $250?
>>
>>29936368
It wont be too much longer though. they always said they were keeping the I.H.s for last, and those went a year or two ago.

My guess is they are scraping the bottom of the barrel now, and maybe come next year there will only be the really expensive ones and just parts.

Also imagine being in the North Store looking for literally one service grade M1 that is somewhere in the store for your brother, and there are six other people looking for it. disappointment ensued.
>>
>>29936101
So, what actually happens to the CMP once they really do run out of garands?
>>
>>29954133

They start selling those $1000 1911's. They also sell ammo and accessories.
>>
>>29936101
Glad I put in my order beginning of February.

Unfortunately it was sent in during the carbine rush.

They are catching up on orders.
They have in the past stopped selling grades and they have come back.
>>
>>29954184

>>
>>29954448
>tfw not 300 dollar rack grade 1911s and 450 dollar service grade ones
>>
>>29936101
These fucking prices for US surplus (besides the CMP) is why I've basically decided to say fuck it in regards to buying a US surplus rifle.

I don't have the money or the CMP requirements for an M1, and the prices for even an extremely meh-tier M1 at cabelas or a gun show especially are just full retard.

At least I have my Mausers, Arisaka, and K31 I guess.
>>
>>29954502
yeah, id love an m1917 Enfield or an a3 springer but damn they cost so much.
>>
>>29954544
If you're near Portland, the ClarK County event center has a No. 4 Enfield sniper variant for $150. The guy is selling it with the kit and everything. He says its just an old Enfield he bought, but I don't think he realizes what he has. Wish I had the money for it.
>>
>>29954502
The gun show near me has an M1 for ~$850. He's selling it with 4 clips with hand loaded ammo. Kinda sketchy, but that action looks pristine. You just have to look everywhere, mang.
>>
>>29954717
Hot damn. My brother and i rehabilitated a bubbad No4mk1* that i picked up for an old winchester 12 gauge barrel, but damn.

The M1917 enfield is a .30-06, actually more of them were issued in WWI than the 1903 because of production issues with the latter. its a pretty neato gun.
>>
>>29954502

$630 for a serviceable Garand is hardly unreasonable. Surplus rifles that are a lot more plentiful and less practical than a Garand are climbing fast while the CMP has been keeping Garand prices low artificially for years. $200 barely gets you a basic bitch mid war Mosin these days and they made 17 million of them compared to just over 6 million Garands.
