Thoughts on CQC (Close Quarters Combat)? Is it useful in real life?
Also, is it possible to emulate Big Boss (freak mode on)?

Yes. Trying to kill your enemy at close range is certainly more efficient than trying to kill them at long range. Of course you're at greater risk at well.

This is about the closest thing you're going to get to without looking retarded. Assuming this isn't retarded as it is.

if youre a solo badass operator, yeah it'll be a good idea to know how to disable enemies with no weapons.
if you have a gun, especially the comically silent fantasy weapons BB has access to, it's usually more effective to put a bullet in their brain

>people havent done a lethal-only nonsilenced genocide run of mgs5 yet
>it still feels like shit without real guns

I should have said that I live in a country where guns are not allowed. Even knives are pretty restricted.
practicing cqc is central to having combat reflexes. fudds cant tell you that because they dont know it and dont have it

Boxing + judo for a year
There you go. You can not outstrike and out grapple 95% of the human population

Big Boss mostly just does boxing + judo stuff. Some of the longer combo type animations are not that plausible and some of the weapon disarm stuff can be goofy but by and large the game is pretty realistic in depicting martial arts technique.

Knife stuff aside it's pretty common for western SOF units to train in martial arts. I know MMA type stuff (specifically boxing + MT + BJJ) is quite popular among US SF. BJJ and boxing are also common arts in CAG. Even if people don't train day in day out like pro fighters do, a lot of SOF guys have above average knowledge and at least basic fighting skills.
