With Ar15 prices bottomed the fuck out can we agree that the Ak market is effectively dead?
It relies on importation of foreign supplies, which could effectively be shut off at any time just like 7N6 and the Russian SGL series rifles.

Honestly the WASR-10 is not a bad AK at all. From a price to performance ratio, I'd choose a WASR over an Arsenal any day. If you're looking to get one OP, it'd be a solid choice for a solid price.

I love aks and even I'm considering getting back into the AR game since they finally have decent mags and weapons, only took them 60 years to accomplish but better late than never I guess
I wanted an AK for the longest time. But I realized basically what the OP said. With non matching AK kits with no barrel climbing to almost $400, there's no point considering you'd be in a kit build for $600 just in parts plus another $500-$1000 in tools to complete it. Ar's are cheaper, just as reliable and are like adult legos.

There really aren't any values to be found in the AK market any longer. If you didn't snag a Saiga for $350 8 years ago that was the bottom of the market and it's been uphill since. Problem with the market is that for the prices of WASRs today you might as well spring for an Arsenal at $1050 that has a side folding mechanism in the receiver. But then you're paying $1100 out the door for a freaking AK. $1100 buys you a lot of AR these days...

The AK market in the US has never been better as far as popularity, accessories, etc. Sure, the rifles cost more now, but a QC'd WASR is still worth every penny.

That's 40% more expensive, I know when it's easy to start justify more for a gun when you get higher up but that's just a poor decision when you can better spend that 400 on mags and ammo and your budget is limited.
I like my WASR, it's probably one of the best AKMs can you get and the Arsenal is one of the best AK74's you can get. I say figure out what caliber you want, the just buy a WASR meme is growing because they're perfectly fine good (new production) guns.

If the AK market is dead...is it possible for American Made SKS's?
Think about it, an SKS is accepted in most ban states, just make an American stripper clip top loading fixed box magazine rifle that has a normal hunting stock instead of pistol grip and have it come with A2 sights and a side scope rail for offset optics that does not interfere with loading.
Have it in a variety of American hunting calibers ranging from .44 magnum to 30-06

Just had the mine rebarreled. I got it in 07, it was a piece of shit. Now the barrel is new and I'm still accuracy testing.
Here's what I can tell you-
>Its very front heavy, but recoil is essentially nothing.
>The stock is neat and makes the gun pretty compact.
>Stock is also piss poor for shooting as it makes consistency very difficult to achieve
>Muzzle brake is cool, but a pain in the ass to clean.
>Has a few minor differences to other AKs so don't expect to be swapping parts like crazy.
Overall that's a good price, since I paid 675 for mine, plus 450 for a total refinish+new barrel and all the associated work. Personally I like it, but I like my other AKs better at this point.
