>>
>>29928423
For all we know, he could be talking about a pistol case with a moulded plastic interior. In which case, yes, finding a trigger lock can be a bitch.

Then again, if this is what pistolanon was talking about, he should've been a lot more specific.
>>
>>29928423
>>29928497
something like this, what ever comes with the USP 45 I just bought.

I have some of those masterlock ones and I'm almost certain they'll be too big.
>>
>>29928528
You'll be fine m8
>>
>>29928423
Speaking of cases, I bought an SVT from Marstar (bad choice), and Marstar, being the smug bastards they are, gave me a "free" plastic case to go with it, because they want to look like the nice guys.

Too bad the case fits like shit. I actually have to put the rifle in diagonally to make it work. And this is a case we're talking about, so even when you place a rifle diagonally, you still have very little wiggle room. The overall length of the rifle is almost exact, if not greater than the overall length of the case.

I remember another anon saying that he bought something from Marstar too, and that it looked like his rifle was forcefully stuffed into one of their awful cases, and by the time it arrived, the barrel poked through.

Man, I knew that Marstar didn't know how to make a website or run a business, but I didn't know that they couldn't even put rifles into a case that fits.
>>
>>29928528
Step 1: measure the inside depth of your case
Step 2: measure the overall depth of a potential trigger lock
Step 3: if measurements from Step 2 are less than Step 1, it will work

Not as far as the CC is concerned. CFO's may have a different take on it but as far as I know the answer is no.
With the exception of locked hard cases in Ontario the CFO wants them bolted to the wall/floor so they can be removed easily.

A friend of mine actually went over his storage configurations with the RCMP once. I have repeated this story countless times in previous Canada threads, so I'm sure there are people who are sick of reading it, but I think it's very relevant to your interests.

My friend actually had the RCMP show up at his door, asking about his guns. They asked him to show them how he stored his firearms.

He kept his guns in a $99 Stack-On cabinet in his closet. It wasn't a $3000 safe with thick, fireproof walls and 1" thick bolts to keep it shut. It was essentially a box made of sheet metal that closes itself with a wimpy 1/4" flatbar. It wasn't bolted down to the floor, because it makes no sense to do hundreds of dollars of damage for a $99 cabinet. Also, he was renting the place, so I highly doubt he would've even been allowed to.

So my friend showed the arsy empy his firearm storage setup, and they were content with it. They deemed it acceptable, and soon left him alone.

Another thing that we Canadians can have that American't is shipping to your door. Americans can't just ship firearms directly to the customer/end user, they have to ship them to an authorized Federal Firearms License holder, then the customer/end user picks it up from them.

I remember reading a thread on /adv/ about a guy who actually mailed his gun to a buyer through USPS, and it was basically him freaking out for the entire duration of the thread. Some people even told him to delete his thread before the feds got to him, but it was too late. I bet Bubba helped his pooper stretch to the diameter of a bicycle helmet by now.

Norc guns, cheap slavshit. I've been told that a $185 Tok like mine would go in the $1200 range down there. It only slightly soothes the anal pain of being a syrup gun owner.
>>
>>29929672
I'm STILL trying to figure out this country's laws to see if a Canada-legal Obrez is possible, even if it means making it Restricted.

Because if it's legal, I would gladly fill out as much paperwork as needed to make it happen.
>>
>>29929642
Some people like A2s, that's all there is to it. You want to really break your brain? Go to /arg/ and watch and people bicker over creating artistically precise versions of the "XM16E457MK.3-4.Z6 Jungle Carbine" or whatever in between all the shitposts.

All Norinco firearms. There was an import ban on all things Norinco. Unless you just mean *most* Norincos are cool.
>>
>>29929766
>When I inevitably find a beater Mosin
So pretty much all of them?

>>29929773
I thought cutting is okay as long as a gunsmith does it? If not, I still wouldn't be opposed to a new barrel anyway, because I'm sure most nugget barrels are pitted/rusted/frosted to hell and back.
>>
>>29929783
Sporting shotguns were given an exemption from the ban.
>>
>>29929793
No. You or you gunsmith can cut to 18"(not 18.5") before its prohibited. Shorter than 18" have to be factory manufactured barrels.
>>
>>29929766
Well, at least this time it would be a much lighter offense than what you normally do.

>>
>>29934911
Honestly, I would complain to Marstar about this. This was shoddy service, and quite possibly illegal, too.

They've failed to package your purchase properly. You put your hard-earned money into this purchase, and they couldn't even package it properly. Doesn't matter if the damage happened mid-transit, they've failed to account for that possibility.

Also, I'm very highly certain that firearms have to be securely and discreetly packaged, as a legal requirement. I'm not absolutely certain on this, but I am highly confident of it. I encourage more research on this topic (I plan on doing so myself after I finish this post), but I'm pretty sure a package containing firearms can't have the following:
>mention that it's a firearm in the description ("Content: Firearm(s)")
>have the contents visible in any way, shape or form
That post office girl was terrified for no reason, and it was Marstar's fault.

Seriously. What city are you in? There are many people on this board that will store then for you until they safe to be home again, or at least help you find a store that can sell them for you.

Another idea: go to a local gun store and ask them if they can store them, for a monthly fee. Explain the situation to them. They'll have room in their safes, and the last thing any gun owner or store in canada wants is one more bad event involving guns.

We are here to help. I'm also in Edmonton.

Armoured Crewmen here. Ask away bro

This. I'm also in Edmonton (how many Edmonton Anons are there, jesus), and would willingly store them for free, or buy them off you, your choice.

Well fgt, I don't care what you decide to do with the funs, as long as it doesn't involve handing them over to the RCMP, MP's, or EPS.

Jus curious, what do you have?

>>29941244
I say again, that wasn't me talking about the crazy senpai and shit. If i had funs here i could get the MPs of numerous buddies to store them for me.

Would spending $350 on a nugget be too much?

I want to get a Polish m44 but they're hard to find.

Also, where can I find a Budapest m95 styer rifle?
>>

>Would spending $350 on a nugget be too much?
M44 is $400 standard. If you want one, get one.
>>

Cuck.
>>
how long does the RCMP usually take to finish a transfer?

I want my p-09
>>
>>29942299

No set time. I've had transfers that went through in one day, and had ones that took a week or more.
>>
>>29942299
It varies. I had the transfer for my Skorpion done in two hours. But it can take days, or weeks even.
>>
Got my AR Mag adapter for my Vz. 58 this week, and ran a couple hundred rounds with it. It ran pretty much flawless, but I noticed that initially I'd always have to slap my mags to get them to lock in, but it's mostly fine now. Does anybody know if that's just the adapter wearing in, or is it the mags themselves?
>>
>>29941762
I honestly wouldn't buy from someone who describes any firearm as a "truck gun".

It's like buying a car or motorcycle from a seller who says it "goes very fast and you can race with it."
>>
gona range tomorro. cant wait to shoot my m44.

better not fucking rain
>>
>>29942299
As fast as both parties of the transaction are willing to cooperate. In most cases, the hangups are on the buyer's end.

The one thing the seller has to do is initiate the transfer.

The buyer has to submit his/her gun club membership (if it's his/her first time, or if his/her previous membership expired) to the CFO, which can take a week by mail, days by e-mail, or minutes in-person at the CFO's office. Then the buyer has to obtain an ATT from the CFO, which, again, could take another week by mail, days by e-mail, or minutes in-person.

>tfw I used to live ~15 minutes away from my CFO's office so I was able to complete the process a lot faster than most people
>tfw now I live >45 minutes away
>>
>>29941762
i got mine at 400. but the seller sounds bubbaish
>>
>>29942299
Just completed one in ON so far longest time its taken them. It was approved in 10 business days after I confirmed(2.5 weeks)
>>
>>29945170
AR mags in general can be rather finicky.

It's almost ironic, because they're also known as STANAG (Standard Agreement) magazines. As in, the entire purpose of them was to be universal to any firearm that takes them.

But there are AR mags of many different shapes and sizes. Certain shapes just won't work as well on certain firearms. Just take a look at this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC03yl-iHlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjI_3MF_kQc

As for your vz? It could be going through the exact same thing. You might have better results with different-shaped magazines.
>>
>>29941762
I've seen modified nuggets with aftermarket parts being sold for $700+, and they were 91/30s.

Basically what I'm trying to say is, at least you're not Anthony Burch.

Who else /tryingtogetagreencard/ here? Fuck Saskatchewan, fuck the cold, fuck natives, fuck Trudeau, fuck hippies who love Trudeau fuck pinned mags, and fuck restricted gun lists. I'm 18, what career paths have a good chance of getting me sponsored by my employer?

Looking at buying an SKS whats the difference between the Hardwood stock and the laminate one?

When I hear laminate I think laminate flooring which is poor people shit, so why is more money?
>>
>>29947038
It's like wood chips suspended in some plastic shit. I think the laminate ones are newer and the newer ones tend to have chromed barrels though?
>>
>>29947038
>>29947053

Laminate ones are all refurbished.

The hardwood ones typically will hold value better, but the laminate ones are probably going to be more functional.

Honestly, most of the rare/valuable ones have already been picked clean, so just go with whatever fits your budget.
>>
>>29947038
Less cosmoline.

>>29940569
What's it like, I guess? I've drank the kool-aid from watching the recruiting videos, but I don't actually know what your day-to-day is like. I'd imagine it's mostly vehicle maintenance?

Well Thinking of buying a Marlin 336 as a first fun. Thoughts?

Other idea was building a .308 AR but that
>A) presents problems being a lefty.
>B) seems like a fuck of an investment for a hobby I haven't committed to.

Opinions?
>>
>>29947548
Don't get a Marlin 336 unless you can prove that it was made before 1964. Post-'64 Marlins have quality issues.
>>
>>29947681
I have a marlin 336 made in the 80's never cleaned it never had an issue. 500+ rounds through it. Good gun easy to shoot and aim. Kinda obsolete nowadays and rounds are over 1.$ each here now
>>
>>29947548
Why would being a lefty be a problem for an AR?

Could've sworn the whole point of an AR was to be able to customize the fuck out of it.
>>
>>29938383
Who's importing it, and when will it be available?
>>
>>29947921
No word yet just got FRT late friday, NS was slated to import and TNW was going to make(This was back in 2013 tho). I would hope NS will have some info when they open on Monday

>>29947548
Regular AR's are fine for lefties only thing I would say is get an ambi safety. Which is a cheap part to buy.
>>
>>29948618
There are tonnes of shops near me that use NS, so I'm pumped to hear it's through them.

Not sure where I'll see TI T81s show up. You can bet I'm going to buy both though.
>>
>>29948701
I'm looking forward to the T81s too, I'm hoping for reasonable pricing after the first couple batches.
>>
>>29951147
>first couple batches.

If Tactical Import's words are to be believed, the initial shipment is going to be the only one coming. Of course they could just be lying through their teeth in order to keep the cost up/ensure people panic-buy, but time will tell.
>>
>>29951205
Yeah I don't believe that at all, the type 81's we are getting are new production firearms. Which means China has the tooling to keep making them if necessary. It would be a different situation if they were taking parts from a limited number of surplus rifles.
>>
>>29951205
>New production rifles
>One batch
>Initial price of only $1000
I'd be very surprised. I think it's more of a test batch to gauge Canadian interest. If they don't sell then they won't bother making more, but if they sell quickly then they'll send more.
>>
>>29952331
>>29953496

Hopefully you guys are right. As much as I'd love to own a Type 81, I'd prefer to wait until I hold one myself and see how they preform before jumping on the pre-order bandwagon.
>>
>>29952331
>>29953496
>>29955014

They might have some of the other components (furniture, barrels, etc) in stock already (which would cut their costs).

But yeah. The Chinese are pretty good at making new shit for the Canadian market these days (I "blame" CanAm :D).
>>
>>29955685
Yeah, Chink shit has become pretty popular here, I'm hoping they keep producing civie stuff for us. It would suck short term, but be a huge boon long term if the US opened up their markets. It would guarantee a constant stream of Chinese guns being produced for the foreseeable future.
>>
I'm still on the fence about the Type 81 myself.

>only slightly less expensive than a vz. 58
>uncertain quality (probably will be fine, but at least with the vz, I already know what to expect)
Only real advantages I see are that the magazines are cheaper, and a folding stock is more commonly available.

Also, the US seems to have a hateboner for Chinese guns, so if I ever go through with my plans to move to Arizona, I probably wouldn't be allowed to take a Type 81 with me. Hell, I already feel saddened by the fact I will have to leave my SVT behind if I do move, and that's a Russian gun.
>>
>>29955888
Apparently you can bring Chinese guns into the US but you'll have to have owned it for something like 10 years before importing. Not sure how the system work but ive heard it many times.
>>
>>29955888
You can import them specific ways, but it's a lot of work and money. You should look into it.
>Or just smuggle them.
>>
>>29955921
I paid something like $350 for my SVT, and Tactical Imports is currently selling the Type 81 for $1000. When you say "it's a lot of work and money," I assume it's gonna be way too much.

I don't know if I want to go through that much effort for $1350 in guns. I'd rather just give the SVT to one of my friends, and not buy the Type 81 in the first place. Hell, if I move to the US, I can probably get a real legal AK, instead of having to settle for an AK lookalike.
>this is probably how Americans justify Chinese firearms embargo
>>
>>29955989
>>this is probably how Americans justify Chinese firearms embargo
Pretty much. I would suppose it would depend on emotional attachment. I know I would want to bring over my VZ58 since it was my first rifle and I'm rather attached but in the end it's up to you. Funny that they have such strict importation laws though.
>>
>>29955888
>>29955989

I feel you, man. Plan on moving south in the future, too.

I'll probably just put the guns I most want to keep in my brother or father's locker.
>>
>>29955989

thats how the NRA justifies it. imagine how fast the US firearms market would dilute and devalue if suddenly a new flood of a couple million norinco guns suddenly hit the market. with the production capacity they have, norc could probably collapse the market in 2 years.

we saw how fast the AR market plunged during all the panics, price shot up then immediately dropped due to the massive influx of guns and parts.
>>
So what exactly do gun stores do with the name of your gun club? Do they even check? What if I haven't joined one and not in the process of joining one and I put a gun club name?
>>
>>29959006
It's not the store, it's the RCMP that check. They want you to prove you are using your restricted for target shooting, and clearly if you joined a club then you couldn't possibly use the gun illegally.
>>
>>29959006
It's not so much the gun store that cares, it's the RCMP-mandated Canadian Firearms Program that does.

If it seems like the store cares, they probably just want to help you save as much time as possible.
