Anyone into air rifles? I mean real pellet rifles, not bb guns or airsoft.

This beauty is coming in the mail for me, 16 shot in .22. I also have a Benjamin Marauder but it isn't accurate enough for doves and rabbit at +80m

Forgot about it, it's a FX Impact, made in Sweden. Integrally suppressed without tax stamp shit, no regulations at all, and can be fired within city limits.
>>
I've got a Crosman 1077 which is a pretty fun little plinker for the money, but I want to get an AirForce Texan 45cal for shits and giggles.
>>
>>29909297

>made in Sweden

I bet killing small games with it count as an halal ritual slaughter.
>>
>>29909285
Yeah, I have a Gamo "Combo" or something (i dont remember the name correctly). Very funny to shoot
>>
>>29909285
Do any of the ones in .22, .357 or .45 shoot harder than the equivalent firearm? I'm kind of curious if one of these can really replace a .22, since it'd theoretically be cheaper to operate.
>>
>>29909375
Speed and weight of the projectile is lower so no.
BUT a .25 cal air rifle shoots as hard as a .22lr subsonic. The Airforce Texan IV8888 reviewed is equivalent to a .45 long colt
>>
>>29909285
Be careful with this one I've heard that there are some big QC issues. I was going o buy one too but decided on a Weihrauch HW100S FSB which is also integrally supressed and from what I've read much more reliable.
>>
Do air gun suppressors or integrally suppressed air rifles require a tax stamp in the US?

Buying pic related for shits and giggles, but I just found out these high end ones (I've only shot the cheap chinese airguns before) like this can throw a .25 cal, 20-30 grain respectively, from 800 to 950fps!! what is this I dont even

I'm no hunter, but what would a 30grain, 800fps (50ft lbs?) do to a rabbit?
>>
>>29909987
Only if you can put that suppressor on a regular firearm.
>>
>>29910245

IIRC, you need 8 foot pounds to the cranium to down a rabbit.
Here's what a .177 baracuda HE does to a rabbit skull at 12 foor pounds (muzzle energy)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vt_wpOyzYs so I can hazard a guess a. 28.4 grain, .25 cal baracuda HE would decapitate the bugger at 50 fpe muzzle.

>8 foot pounds

What's a foot pound?
>>
>>29910418
A unit of force, like a newton meter.
>>
>>29910418
Pavement.
>>
>>29910418

strictly speaking, it's the amount of energy needed to move one pound, one foot, hence the name.

Typical european limit is 12 fpe (foot pounds) of muzzle energy, which translates to 16.3 Joules, iirc.

It's a much better way of describing a rifle, since knowing the muzzle velocity (fps) without knowing the mass of the projectile doesn't get you any closer to knowing how effective it will be. Especially since pellet weight can vary wildly, particularly in .177 caliber which is used for target shooting - from 4 grain super light pelets, to 11 grain heavies, and firing a heavier pellet at a lower velocity (from the same rifle) can produce more muzzle energy.
>>
>>29910418
An ancient unit of measure.

Try joules instead.
>>
>>29910245
Airguns can be plenty powerful.

Fuck, repeating airguns made in the 1700s were able to kill people, deer and moose even. They were used by jaegers and sharpshooters in the early 1800s.

Jesus fuck, thanks, very informative

On another note, I just read about something called the "Taylor index" or "Taylor KO factor" (what a gringeworthy name tho) as an alternative means of predicting grain/speed/caliber combo terminal ballistics, is it rubbish?
>>
>>29910517
Didn't Napoleon promise a reward for killing a Jaeger that was armed with a Girandoni air rifle, since they were so quiet and effective?

>what's a foot lb?

An old measurement of force from medieval England.
A yeoman was made to carry 100 fathoms of barleycorn across the Thames foot bridge with silver pounds in his wooden shoes. When the footbridge began to sink they would shave a silver pounds weight off his wooden shoes and stick another coin in his hempen socks.
8 ft lbs equals 8 silver lbs in his socks + 100 fathoms of barley minus his shoes for example.

Nah nigga, a newton is a unit of force. A newton meter is a unit of torque or moment about a point

Hi pajeet
>>

I like air rifles and pistols.

I got a crosman vigilante and really fucking regret it though and want something else. And incase anyones wondering why I like them its because im british and its like a little family pack sized freedom
>>
>>29910879

well, if you're British, try something from Birmingham Small Arms, Air Arms, or Daystate.
>>
Anybody have experience with the Benjamin discovery ?
>>
>>29910879
Even if you're limited to 12ft-lbs that's still plenty of power to hunt small game. Check these guys out
