Howdy /k/ Just got home from cabelas doing some gun browsing and I spotted a Mauser 98 for $450. Stock was a little beat up but that's about it. All numbers matching. Is $450 a good deal?

Op here. the rifle was made in 1939

Why is that k98 stock so long?

It's a Russian-captured refurb, originally made at ERMA. $450 is on the high side of their value range, but if it's in good shape, and the refurb serial numbers match then it would be worth it.

It's not long; the barrel was shortened from he muzzle end.

Buy it ASAP. Very good deal.

No, I've seen a stock like that before too: it was an inch longer than it was supposed to be.

You're probably thinking of the Kar.98a; it has an almost full-length stock.
OP again heres another pic

RC mausers have increased in price over the past year in the US. going rate is about $525+

No, I know Mausers, and I once ordered a used 98k stock (laminated w/cupped buttplate), and it was an inch too long. It looked just like OP pic on my 98k as well.
It must have been a small run of incorrect sized stocks or something.

Fuck I can't stand how many retarded noguns on here, to where I have to be talked to like I don't know the difference between different Mausers.

I don't think so.
I'd say it's a solid $600+ rifle.
