Having all the ammo in the world won't mean anything once you've reached day 5 without eating a warm meal. You'll get desperate. You won't be thinking straight. You'll end up dying because you do stupid shit to survive.
In short - prepare for the stuff you need on a day to day basis. Also - first aid (and trauma aid) saves more lives than bullets. Learn that shit.

The natives grew maze and grain back in the day. Water would be the main concern. We'd have to go back to the old nomadic ways of moving from source to source or settling near streams. The northern AZ has rivers and lakes and shit. Most modern corn would die without the tending.
Grazing land is everywhere in the higher elevation, but it also means wide open spaces for people to shoot the fuck out of you if they want to.
AZ is also kind of fucked with our road situations. There are only a handful of major highways that can be used to move across the state. These will likely be shut down, blocked with cars, or overran with raiders in a SHTF scenario. Off road vehicles can solve this, but it drastically limits your carrying capacity.

I often have nightmares of the innevitability of nuclear detonation. Believe me people, it WILL happen sometime. There are many warheads that are unaccounted for. It is only a matter of time before someone gets a hold of one and uses it.

I think the reason is because there is more black people down here, so they aren't insular communities that can convince themselves they are oppressed or whatever the fuck. Uh, yeah, that is the point. Not to go full /pol/, but a grand amount of us really feel like we need to cut the fat and let them do what they will. We all know certain groups would go fucking insane in the event of a happening, and we resent them for it. We're sick of their shit, and we want to end it.
That is like, 3/4ths of the "Happening" fantasy. To the people who even know that concept, let alone think of it seriously, let alone /k/, we're the people who think of what it would take to survive. Almost all the people we hate, politically, ethically, day-to-day, that ail us, are almost exclusively people that would do really, really poorly in a happening and we wouldn't have to put up with their shit anymore. We would finally be left to live how we want. That's it.
Also, like Phil said, there are plenty of families, communities, groups, tribes, and towns around. Shame for you you've excluded yourself and project that falsely upon the whole nation.

Yeah northern AZ and a ideally a network of other preppers and friends or bust.
The problem starts when all of the city fucks from phoenix start the mass immigration up to the mountains. Most if not all of the norther AZ cities would be sacked by the urban hoard within a month.
The only cities that will stand a chance at surviving will be the ones that can isolate themselves either by collapsing roads and bridges, or creating a bottleneck and lighting up people as they try to enter.
Land is fucking expensive here though, so dont expect to find 3 acres of wooded land for less than 50k. We are mostly desert and plains.

I don't know about other states around arizona, but I do know that mormons will be a problem if you do not belong to their group. They are probably the largest portion of the prepping community and will start locking down their towns fast. Don't expect them ro be friendly with you, they were pretty fucking ruthless back in the day. If you can get in with the mormon groups (by being, or being a convincing mormon) you shojld have good odds. They take care of their own and will likely be some of the most successful communities when shit goes south.

I live in surburban Utah. If they didn't nuke Hill Airforce Base, the "happening" would just end up being a bug-in. Any ground soldiers/looters would be entering a hornet's nest of friendly neighbors where every 3rd door is a CCW holder and every other door just hasn't gotten up early enough to attend the classes on Saturday because they only get up early on Sundays. If it came to getting water/supplies, it'd be easier digging wells/working together with trusted, friendly Mormon neighbors than using a big stick to try to dig down 300m to find water innawoods. Everyone would be trading their awful "2 years supply storage" of cracked wheat and expired cans of food for things that tasted better, so I'd have to keep watch on my chickens, but that's about it.
