Picked up a P64 on armslist today for $150, pretty heavily used. I would post my own picture but im at work right now. This is my second firearm, my other is a nugget.

What do you guys think, did I goof? do alright? I love these communist bloc weapons.

Also please share any other communist bloc milsurp you guys know of.

So far I love the pistol, the fucking double action pull is out of this world hard though.
>>
>>29893365
>I love these communist bloc weapons.

You literally got it because it was $150. You don't have an actual interest in combloc weapons, sorry.
>>
Breddy gud anon.
>>
>>29893365
Could be a lot worse/10
>>
>>29893374
Jesus dude don't get your panties in a knot. Let OP love what he wants whether it be dicks or com bloc weapons.
>>
>>29893374

Well I might not be into it as much as you :(

I admit the price point was a big reason, but I really do love the look of combloc guns, modern polymer stuff just doesnt do it for me.
>>
>>29893365
>did I goof? do alright?
I don't know man, it's not even your pistol in the picture.
>>
>>29893365
Pick that bad boy up st your local goodwill?

Looks like something that belongs on the bottom of a river

Garbage bro, enjoy.
>>
>>29893440

:)
>>
>>29893422
>modern polymer stuff just doesnt do it for me.

You've never touched a good polymer gun and you're saying that because it's cool to be contrarian.

A glock or an m&p is miles better than that heap of shit. You didn't even look into trade in metal frame guns
>>
>>29893496

I have used an m&p 22 pistol. Its fun to plink with but I dont like the look of it. Never have. I've held the slightly larger m&p 9's it didnt change my opinion.
>>
looks cool, and was pretty cheap ggman
>>
>>29893365
Decent price, if you want to improve the DA pull, try polishing the surfaces where the DA sear rod/plate rides, as well as removing the spacer under the hammer mainspring.

All in all I found these to be reasonably well made pieces, the majority I dealt with seemed to be "school" guns, with loads of rough finish and fit. Fixing this improved them.
>>
I had one, DA trigger was horribad, but the 50m sites were pretty neat. I rate it higher than Hi-point but I wouldn't buy another one.
>>
>>29893365
I like mine. Breddy gud piece of slavshit. Definitely not the best handgun out there, but my personal favorite gun that I own (probably just because I've had it for a long time)
Can't kill them, and with some replacement springs they're really great pieces of machinery.

Grats on your first gun. P64 is a decent pistol, got one hell of a deal as well. The 9x18 is a good round, Silver Bear makes hollow points as well, just beware the double action pull, around 20 pounds, single action is insanely light.
>>
>>29893365
I very much want one of these but I'm also torn between getting a Windicator or a SCCY 9mm whatever the fuck they're called tiny guns. Lets ignore the Windicator for now. SCCY has 9mm so I have ammo compatibility with my other handgun plus a better platform than 9x18, price is close to that of a good to great condition p-64 and I would get it new. For P-64 I love the look of the gun, have a hard-on for commie surplus style shit, as a safety which I would want in a carry piece and I would do the Wolf spring job to make life a bit easier. Any advice anons?
>>
>>29894367
Which appeals to you more? The SCCY seems a bit more logical, but combloc handguns are sexy, especially if you get some nice wood grips. Go with your heart anon.
They're both cheap enough that you're not losing a whole lot if you change your mind.
>>
>>29894323
This, and as I mentioned, you can improve the DA.
The 9X18 is a fine round overall.
>>
Op here, here's a picture of mine, it's got a shit ton of holster wear. Just got done checking everything, functions fine.
>>
>>29894812
Good concealment job, anon.

If the p64 were drop safe I would absolutely buy one and probably carry it every day. But it isn't, so I have absolutely no use for it. A gun that can't be safely carried loaded isn't a gun I'm interested in.
>>
>>29894844
>>29894862
Looks good. Seems like it's got a lot of character. Older guns are cool.
>>
>>29893365
Cool looking p64, but you do know you could get an unissued condition one for about $200, right?
>>
Enjoy your piece of shit trigger and ergos op. Though I guess coming off a nugget it's fine. Seriously stop begging your mom for money for guns and get a real job and buy actually good guns already and stop embarrassing /k/ with this poorfag shit
>>

y u mad bruh
>>
>>29894957

Wat are you serious ? Where ?
>>
>>29894958

I have a real job , I just recently picked up guns as a hobby. I'm fascinated now, I'm just buying what I think looks cool before I spend serious money. Been looking at some 1911's but I have no idea what brands to start/trust
>>
>>29895131
>1911
depending on your budget, the springfield armory range officer or loaded model would be a good entry choice.
>>
>>29895107
Aim Surplus has grade 2 (good but not perfect) for 199 with free shipping. Only 1 magazine and no holster but I'm thinking about jumping on it
>>
>>29895131

>>
>>29893374
Well, hi points do exist for a reason...
>>
>>29893365
I don't think the P64 is a particularly good gun - it's noticeably inferior to a Mak - but for the price it's still worth it. Go shoot it and have fun with it, and when you can afford to get a nice pistol you'll appreciate that one a lot more.
>>
>>29895864
Also, bear in mind that a third-rate pistol beats the hell out of no pistol. And it's still better than a saturday night special by far.
>>
>>29893365
You did great anon, P64s are fun and easy to shoot, and relatively accurate for a combloc pistol. Now you might want some carry ammo, I use what is probably considered the best 9mm mak defensive ammo is Underwoods XTP +P ammo https://www.underwoodammo.com/9x18mm-9mm-makarov-p-95-grain-xtp-jacketed-hollow-point/

It's just like Hornadys but with a heavier load, and it's typically cheaper as well.
>>
>>29895864
Inferior maybe due to it being smaller, but being smaller also makes it far more easier to conceal.
>>
Solid enough for a first handgun.
Get the lighter hammer springs from Wolff, one will make the DA miles better (but still not good)
>>
>>29894253
Not OP, but thanks for the tip. Bought one myself to leave in my glove box.
>>
>>29893496
OP BTFO LOL.
>>
>>29895131
Want a complete, out-of-the-box package with all the bells and whistles with superb fitment and finish? Go SIG. Specifically, the Tacops model is fantastic if you want a rail and it has a steel mainspring housing with an integrated magwell.

If you want a great base gun and you want to tinker, get a Colt of your choosing. If you don't want to spend Colt money and still want to tinker, get a Springfield Range Officer or Loaded.

Not that you can't tinker on a SIG, there just isn't any need. Everything is already done pretty well. I had to de-burr the trigger bar channel just a teeny bit.

>OP is man
>purse glock girl calls him uninformed
>her gal pal claims he was BTFO
>>

the sig p320 is a superior polymer gun than both of those choices you offered

not everybody likes polymer. I enjoy polymer pistols for what they are but metal-framed ones feel better in my hand

>You didn't even look into trade in metal frame guns
tbqh for $150 I would have gone for the P64 simply because I like combloc PP clones. They're compact, sexy and effective. The only real flaw of the P64 is the DA trigger pull (which can be solved with inexpensive aftermarket parts)

>A glock or an m&p is miles better than that heap of shit.
agreed, the Glock is much more versatile seeing as how it doubles as a grenade :^)

I got one recently too. Pretty good but the recoil was harsh as fuck with the first few mags, mellowed out after about 30~ rounds. I also got an Uncle Mike's IWB holster for it recently.
>>
You are just buying shit because it's cheap.

I'm actually into commie weapons because I like how they look and think they're more fun to shoot.

But I also have several poly handguns and an AR. I can afford shit and I mostly buy commie shit, but still have a decent collection of more modern guns.

>XTP

Because we have this thread regularly:
Technical article: "Use of Expanding Bullets in Small Defensive Cartridges"
https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?c=60&l=product_list

I carry hardcast (buffalo bore or underwood) for this reason.
>>
>>29897575
>no one is allowed to like what I like unless they like it as much as I do!
>>
>>29898385
whole Buffalo Bore is some really high quality ammo, the guy who runs the show is kinda obsessed with hardcasts
he's apparently shot a lot of bears and wildlife, but it doesn't sound like he's ever shot a person
he's a bit skewed

Hornady XTP will expand and reach 12"+ of penetration in .380 out of a 2" subcompact barrel (shootingthebull410 tests)
it is reasonable to assume that XTPs for 9mm Makarov will perform similarly if not better

it's not the 90's anymore, bullet science has advanced significantly
micro calibers can expand and still reach 12" because they figured out how to limit expansion

also, I'd never shoot BB hardcasts out of a P64
aside from the atrocious recoil (I've fired exactly two out of my P64), they'll also batter the gun eventually
