What makes the axes used by rescue personnel so special? What makes them better then regular axes?
They're red so they go faster
It's coloured like a firema....

Jesus non-existant Christ, anon! It's litterally the year 2016 and you are trying to say that citizens should have free access to military style assualt axes? Those are for firefighters and only firefighters should have them because they are trained to use them! What're you, compensating for something?

Can be used as a lever to force open a door.
>pic related the real king of breaching tools.

I've got one of these. Pretty cool, but I really have no use for it honestly.

Fuckit. I'll go. There's nothing special about them. The average types come in a 6 or 8 pound head, wood, or fiberglass handle. There are more options, just depends on what you specify from the vendor. As far as the head goes, they're kept less sharp than a wood-cutting axe so they do get buried as deeply in walls, doors, etc and take longer to work out. The only real difference I've noticed over the years between wood and fiberglass is it's much easier to remove a wood handle to replace it when broken. The pick head probably looks cool but the flat heads are more useful when carried with a Halligan bar.

>don't get buried as deeply
Posting on a phone.

basically this
if no halligan bar, use the pick head so you can chop or pry
if halligan bar, use the flat head so you can chop and hammer, then the halligan bar becomes your prying/levering tool
