So I have this rabbit den in my very small, fenced in backyard. My dog already killed two of them and brought a third into the house, seemingly unharmed. Not quite sure what to do. My dog already mortally injured a full sized rabbit before and I had to finish it off. I'm thinking about digging up the den and moving the babies. Thing is, I doubt the mother will find them, then I'll have a pile of dead, decomposing baby rabbits to deal with. I would like to prevent any necessary death. Any suggestions? My dogs need to go out, so I'll have to act soon.

Also, for the strike don't do like me and choose a stick without any protuberances sticking out, otherwise you might end up not killing the rabbit but bursting an eye out of a socket and spraying blood everywhere while trying to keep the damn thing from moving in order to put it out of its misery. That was my first try and it was quite messy.

I put the two babies I suspected were dead back in the den. Probably not the best idea. I then just let the dogs out and gave them a sharp "no" if they went near the den. Not sure how long that will work for. Hopefully I won't have several adolescent rabbits hopping around my hard.

I use to live in the East Valley of Mesa and my local neighborhood had a problem with coyotes from time to time. Some speculated they got in from the sewer system, but I have no idea. I did see them from time to time driving home at night.

You can trap the nest somehow to catch the mother as well if it comes back and move them together if you want to do that. Mothers don't actually stay in the den, they're only there for a very short while each day.
If you are fairly certain that the mother has died (she'll come back like once or twice a day), then you can take it to a shelter that deals with rabbits.

In addition to the growling that the other dude mentioned, rabbits also honk and grind their teeth when their happy (or sometimes honk when they want something), and will grind their teeth in a different way when their in pain, and will fucking scream for their lives. There's also another weird noise the might make when they're scared, sounds like a combination of honking and crying.
Rabbit growls just means fuck off for a bit. They don't actually like to be pet or touched all the time, and if they aren't bonded to you yet they'll think you're a threat.
