Yet the caliber isn't sufficient enough to damage anything at that range, they're known to fucking bounce off glass.
The only legitimate argument one could make is that the AR is more user friendly with its modernized features, then again I wouldn't call having to tediously clean and lube it after every 300 rounds "user friendly."
If you want to hit and kill shit at range, you want a .308. If you want something for close to medium range, you want 7.62x39. .223 is a fucking waste, people are only so latched onto it because it's what the military uses. Guess what? You're not a soldier, you don't want a gun designed for suppressive fire and you don't have any support coming in, nor can you fall back to your base to clean your gun.
