Assuming Vietnam Boogaloo Pt2 or Columbian cartel interdiction, would you rather be issued a 14.5" M4A1 or a 10" Mk18?
Or rather from a historical perspective, M16 or XM177?

I like that they don't actually show his death though. At that point the predator hasn't really been revealed to the audience. He still gets the most badass end out of all of them.

Def an XM177. Also mk18 to XM isn't an apt comparison. Neither is M4 to m16.
An XM with the 4.25" moderator is basically as long as an M4.

I'd probably go with a proper carbine, but it would depend on the density of the jungle. I'd just get something that can have its barrel replaced with a longer or shorter one on whim and just go with that.
