Looks fine. I would dump the steel mags and replace them with two 10-round plastic ones.

If we're not including gear in the shot I guess I'll post an old pic

42 round mags best mags. 20" barrel soon™ Going prone actually isn't as difficult as you would think, the mag makes a good monopod.
>>
I use the steel mags for training such as malfunction and stoppage drills. I'm still setting up my IOTV. Currently 6 mags, ifak, and 5 pistol mags.

If it's for the happening, you kinda fucked up by cutting off the FSP.
BUIS would be good to have. So would be a half decent light and tritiums for the Glock, assuming it doesn't have them already.
Also back when I had the ASAP, I cut the ring off and replaced it with paracord because the jingling pissed me off.
And obviously you need something to carry all that. I'm a fan of battlebelts, never liked the way most chest rigs or carriers restricted me.
>>
>>29881680

As far as the FSP. The rifle came like that. Bushmaster QRC. Glock has tritium sights. I'm not a big fan of lights. I chose the IOTV because I spent 6 years in it and don't really notice it anymore except heat build up.

>I'm not a big fan of lights.

I used to be like that, thought they were useless extra weight for mall ninjas.
Then I took some classes in low light and night environments and realized that without a light you're basically fucked if the shit picks the wrong time of the day to happen.
>>
>>29881836

That's a good point for the light. Haven't really thought about it. I have pretty good night eye sight.

What would you recommend for a 72 hr BOB/assault bag? Currently 250 rds lose 5.56 and 60 rds lose .45acp. Emergency rations (2 field stripped mres) 2 pr socks, small fishing kit, small tarp, paracord hammock, 500 ft paracord, 3L camelback, wet fire starter, kbar knife.

Any suggestions?
>>
I'll use a light if I want to tell everyone that doesn't have NV Gen anything, exactly where I am at.
>>
>>29882008
Plenty of lights out on the market use optional colored or low-lumen navigation lights.
Like the M900A/M900L and others.

Not having a light will get you killed. Because someone with a light will have an immense advantage in any close quarters situation @ night.

You don't wander around the woods with a light on obviously. Its a backup to when your NV goes down.

Also good for blinding... Signalling... Search
>>
A flash light for looking at something in the dark in a secure area is one thing.

A flashlight for blinding = suicide
A flashlight for CQB= Suicide

If you plan to slice the Pie with a light on you are dead.

There is no respawn. /k/

You mean what light would I recommend?
Anyway, I think that's entirely too much ammo for a 72hr BOB. If you get into any situation where you'll need all the ammo in your mags, you already fucked up and are about to die.
>>
>>29882121
Except that's not accurate.

Go run through a building at night in a third world shithole w/o electricity and then tell me that you don't need a fucking light.

Here's what I've got for for weapons. This doesn't include my backpack, but I suppose once camp is set up, that would be the everyday attire. Bag as 2 10 round and 1 15 round mags, an extra 100 rounds of 9mm and another 150 rounds of 556, fishing gear, hiking tent, water purifier, lighters, etc.

>I'll use my werewolf vision to do anything but sit on my ass at night

Cool. Just hope you don't meet a guy with a light and light discipline who will 1.) turn on the light to locate and identify the threat (you), 2.) do so within a second or two while you're squinting like an owl since your night vision just got shrekt, 3.) fuck you up, turn off the light and GTFO.
Your fantasies of "I'll just shoot at the light, that'll teach them!" don't really translate into real life, which is why weaponlights continue to be a thing.
>>
>>29881181
Thinking about getting an AR (noob with only 1 gun here).

What type is that? Looks fucking sweet.
>>
>flashlights on your weapons or on you
One thing I've learned from military veterans who have fought wars in the third world jungles of Southeast Asia in the past two decades: you do your best to conceal yourself when fighting in the dark. You just let your eyes acclimate to the natural light left in the environment. Using lights will tell others you are there from a greater distance than normal, sometimes faster than the sound of your footsteps.

I'm not going to say don't use one, but most of the time, it's something you only turn on when it's safe to do so, not before an engagement or if you're waiting for an engagement. More like after an engagement and you're trying to ID dogtags and equipment.
>>
>>29882228

>Go run through a building at night in a third world shithole w/o electricity and then tell me that you don't need a fucking light.
Have you ever been in a third world shithole building w/o electricity at night before? I have. It's not that dark even on the mountains.
>>
>>29882228
Many SOF from viet nam used early weapon lights.

Letting your eyes acclimates works sometimes and only sometimes. Other times its dark and you may need to see when clearing a building.

Its a nice sentiment but in reality lights will keep being used widely until NOD's are just a universal piece of equipment

Plainclothing it up with my M&P15 Sport and SD9 VE.
AR has 15 mags of varying capacities and ammo.
Peestol has 3 mags of 124g blue line hollowpoints.
If I've got enough time, I'll grab my Remington 783 in .308 with 50 rounds to put in the truck.

>Many SOF from viet nam used early weapon lights.
Carlos Hancock and Chuck Mawhinney used NV scopes, not lights.

>>
>>29882257
Have you ever been inside a scarcely used building at night?

Its pretty dark.
Night is dark. Inside structures at night is darker.

going in blind isnt a great strategy.
especially on the MANY nights where there is limited ambient lighting.

NOD's first.... lights second... bare eyes if you have enough background light and are not inside a dark building

In a third world shithole building? Even in third world shithole buildings, there's plenty of fucking light. The moment you try to walk into a building and you aren't storming it with a bunch of your buddies, you are just telling people inside the building the direction which you are coming from, which hallway you're in, what direction you're facing.

Even in the mountainous jungles of SEA, this is the rule.

Yes I have really good natural night vision.

Can see a light coming.

Can also smell smokey clothes and deoderent from 150 ft away.

Have a light anon by all means, but for shits sakes don't put that fucker on your rifle. There are cock suckers out there like me that can Hear a Light and Smell a Sound.
>>
>>29882318
you need the light to identify the target & what you are pointing at and situational awareness

IR and night vision is nice but to the average doorkicker a little white light isnt perfect but it's a x10 advantage over having nothing.

there is no advantage to not having a small few oz. white light or white light feature or stand alone on your rifle
>>
>>29882349
Full moons are generally the time when night strikes are done. And you don't do those night strikes with your fucking lights on as you go to clear a village or a jungle hideout.

And no, I already told you I have been to the third world before. There's plenty of fucking light even in rural areas.
>>
For the most part mine plan includes getting out of the area and going dark. Not going to be kicking doors or searching for food. Mostly survival and stealth.

>>29882274

I like it, it's simple, it was cheap ($500 on sale) and it does what I need it to do, even with only irons on it so far. For a poorfag rifle, it really ain't that bad, even though people shit on cheap rifles constantly. Good econonomical investment, all three of my firearms.

>>29882337
I would recommend it all day e'ery day. It's a solid Gloppy, 9mm with 16+1 capacity, light and easy to maintain and clean. For normal day to day stuff, I run 105 fully jacketed hollowpoints, which are about $1 a round for speshul snowflake "Guard Dog" ammo. I would also suggest getting a FOBUS holster, be it IWB or OWB, they are worth their weight in gold.
