Unimpressive budget options. Nothing inherently wrong with them, but...

...fuck no, you clown. These rifles are absolutely not worth $1200 and $1500 respectively. You can assemble (not even buy, just assemble) a better rifle, for less.
Now if you asked me about their uppers, some of these aren't a bad deal. But the complete rifles are just overpriced for what they are.

"Tripcodes can help verify a user's identity to others, and are a type of pseudo-registration. To use a normal tripcode, place a hash mark ("#") followed by a word or short phrase after what you've entered into the [Name] field (ex. "User#password"). Upon submission, the server will generate the hash unique to that particular word or phrase. The previous example would display "User !ozOtJW9BFA" after being posted."

I only trip in this thread unless I forget to turn my trip off. Which I normally don't.

Tripcodes are useful for validating your identity in specific threads related to your interests and skills, and should not be used when they are not relevant. If one should ask "Should I be posting with a tripcode right now?" The answer should usually be no.

Tested my new build today, think it may be overgassed:

>Brass bounced off the stall wall and landed behind me at 6-7 o'clock
>one side of every case mouth was dented

It's 300blk, 8.5" barrel, pistol length. Cheap low pro gas block.

Overgassed or break in period? What's the solution?

>>
>>29881193
The amount of worthy high quality scope to sit on that upper is just too damn high.

The choice should depend on what kind of shooting you plan to do like if its shooting at man sized target at various unknown range it should be mildot and FP if shooting at known sized bulleye at known range it doesnt matter the simpler and cleaner reticle is the better. Power of the scope depend on what range you plan to shoot the most or the range between closest to farthest you will be shooting.

Something like nightforce or s&b would be gr8.

What's your budget?

Badger Ordinance gas block: $54.99
some gas tube: $15.00
Stripped upper: $54.99
fa, dust cover, etc: $20
bcg: $119.99
fancy ch: $50.00
ops inc. muzzle brake kit: 189.99
kac flip ups: ~$100-200

In France, I can't build it. Only an armorer that can assemble new weapons can. (Yeah I know, it's retarded since the AR is the barbie of growass men)

>>
>>29881935
You have to find one that is willing to. It's pricey and not many of them are willing to do it since it's basically more complicated with the paperwork and all.
>>
>>29881927
4-12. 1k with mount if that makes a big difference

>>29881944
the whole point of clones is to get as close as possible so why not get a douglas?
>>
>>29881908
From my experience of the competition shooting and hunting done with my father, optics with objectives above 42 or 44mm become sort of gimmick. Your eye can only capture so much light and it becomes a size/ weight issue for you.

But then again, it really boils down to getting out there and actually using the scope in range/field conditions. Also, what's the point of a 25 power scope with an illuminated bdc out to say, 1500 meters as a civilian?

Many manufacturers included these things with tons of features that make no sense for average use just to get more money.
>>
>>29881933
There are a whole bunch of people that report it just stop turning on, and another common problem is the switches snapping off

>>29881949

>>
>>29881953
the BWS barrel will (theoretically) last longer, ship faster, and is cheaper by a large margin for me, so it will go on my build. You have a good point for the clones however.
>>
>>29881987
i feel ya on those points but for me and i think the frenchbro we are looking for clones. you can get the look for half the price then go for it
>>
>>29881985
It's hard to find the right barrel, have them import it and mark it with a serial number. We have to get serial numbers on barrel, upper and lower.
>>
>>29881985
they use the badger ordinance gas block on the .mil mod 1s, the PRI is correct for the mod 0
>>
>>29882005
Can someone send you one? How does that shit work

>>29882015
I see. I thought we were talking about mod 0 only
>>
>>29881935

Just sourcing all the parts would be an ordeal here.
Going through the hassle of importing all of them individually and getting permits where necessary... nah.
Building in Europe is reserved for a select few companies. 99.9% of gunsmiths will not touch building an AR. They don't know how and don't have the tools, and you'd have to supply all of the parts yourself even if they did.

>>29881974

I noticed it failed to turn on once, but only that one time and the next time I pushed the switch it came right on. No other issues.
Now I hope I break it so I can get the updated one from them. :^
Or do you think they'll be doing a recall?
>>
>>29882035
Yeah, no. If a gunshop in the US happen to have a license export, which cost money to my knowledge, a Mk12 mod 0 with the three parts having the numbers then I'll have to wait more or less two years to get it I guess. If I get the greenlight of the import bureau or something here.

For transport, I have to use something to make the weapon unable to shoot out of the box. The law isn't very clear on that point. Here you can store 1-2 guns and up to 500rds wherever you want, but you will be held responsible if they get misused, stolen or lost.
2+ have to be in a safe. But only if you're away from home, if you're at home you can have them all out and loaded if you want.
>>
Alright, I've found a store that has dealer accounts with some US manufacturers. I need to choose between these 20" heavy barrels:

http://www.andersonrifles.com/product/20-inch-complete-barrel-assembly/

https://www.cmmginc.com/shop/barrel-assembly-20-gp-4150cmv-cl-5-56mm/

http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-20-Rifle-Length-Barrel-Stripped-p/bcm-brl-s-20%20std.htm

http://faxonfirearms.com/20-govt-socom-5-56-nato-rifle-length-4150-qpq/

I would prefer to have the FSB already installed, so CMMG seems like my choice. Which should I get? All other manufacturers would require additional steps and more money to import them into Canada.

The stall wall might do that but brass deflector might too. The solution to that is one of following. (at my home range theres brass stop wall which occasionally dent mouth of some my case only out of my overgassed ar though)

-tweak the gas if you have adjustable gasblock lower so brass would hit deflector at mid section instead of mouth
-swap buffer for heavier one to alter brass impact on deflector
-put fuzzy velcro on deflector or cut up piece of bicycle tubing and glue it on deflector
- alter spring tension of extractor and/or ejector by ordering wilson extra power ejector spring and one weak and one strong extractor spring from various source. (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW FOR SURE YOUR RIFLE ISNT OVERGASSED)

it's most likely overgassed although different ammo is loaded differently if you shot hotter brand it might not happen or weaker brand.

Yup. Also finding fun ranges is hard. I've experienced like ten or eleven across the country. My current one is nice, we do some crazy shit, but only when we're together for the french are nuts when you just want to unload a magazine for giggles, even though you put all your 30 rounds on target.

Pic related is current range. It's not a really good one and people dumped shits this day on it, we were kinda mad. Also some random folks called da police, thinking we were shooting full auto when I was just trying a Geisselle SSA.
>>
Whats the cheapest unused EOTech currently for sale?
>>
>>29882373

It's not that bad. lt will result in a misdemeanor and a minor fine if they decide you did absolutely fuck all to prevent a would be thief to help himself to your guns when you were out.

But the situation with ranges is pretty damn bad. You have to jump through a massive amount of hoops to get your range approved, which results in the already small number of ranges getting smaller every year, whether the people just give up or have their approvals suspended for whatever reason (noise, ballistics etc.) What has the highest chance of surviving are ridiculously overpriced <50m indoor city ranges. There are like five >200m ranges in the whole country.

Even so, shooting in full auto isn't exactly forbidden. You just need to have someone with a category A authorization (I keep forgetting how you spell that word in english) to lend you the weapon. Shit, I've shot UZIs, AKs, VZs, even a MG52 because I knew some cool folks.

Seriously, they're fine. They are above middle tier quality. Someone was saying that he thought they were overpriced, which you know, maybe. But like anything on this site instead of just saying "they're overpriced", people said they're complete fucking garbage and anyone who buys them is an idiot.

If you buy one, I'd bet you money it'd run 100%.

I really hadn't thought about that man...you're absolutely right. Shit.

Now I have to figure out what to do with all my trash. There probably isn't even a market for it anymore now that everyone else has already figured out what I just now did.

I mean, ergonomics? Seriously? The ability to fire with a sandwich stuffed in the action is the only thing that matters in a civilian rifle.
>>
>>29883168
Is anything on your A4gery not authentic or milspec? I'm thinking about building one and I haven't decided how much I'm willing to deviate regarding shit like an improved trigger or a BCG that isn't just phosphate.

Well, mine was literally built out of spare parts I had laying around and like $100 worth of extra A2-ish parts, so I don't really consider it an accurate clone but I don't care it was cheap. Cheap is all you need for an irons-only fun gun.

>>29883306
If I do build one, it'll be for nostalgia. I have other rifles that are/can be objectively better than an A4/A4gery.

>>29883318
>and there is nothing wrong with phosphate
Right, but being able to just wipe shit down is pretty satisfying. I don't have to go full retard deep clean on my own rifles (and I don't), but there's something about dirty phosphate carriers that I don't like.

protip
you can spray it down with brake cleaner and it removes everything

you dont even have to clean it
you keep it wet with oil and you can go 15,000 unsuppressed rounds without worry
basically the life of your bolt
>>
>>29883458
The only true "shit" AR is an AR built by an idiot that is unreliable or an unreliable AR purchased by an idiot who didn't know what to look for.

I had a friend like that, I stopped associating with him after he asked if he could take the optic off my rifle and replace it with his cheapshit ACOG knockoff with biohazard reticle because he couldn't get his piece of shit AR to cycle properly no matter what.

Question I want to buy an 80% lower and build my own AR but I live in Califagnia and there are all these new laws passing (I know only the outline and not specifics) that will further fuck AR owners. Being that I want this weapon for fun and home defense would it be smarter to just buy a Mini14 or something similar so I won't get in trouble if I actually have to use it?
>>

You can talk all day about how a Noveske is a good rifle and others are shit, but at the end of the day you could easily get zapped by some dude with a DPMS and ALICE gear.

God I hated armorers in the army. However when I was in I didn't know all the cleaning tricks I know now. If I ever get called back I'm going to be pretty popular with the Joes I think.

And yeah, it was >>29883562 except in an ACOG knockoff. Idiot actually thought it was a real knockoff, even though he bought the rifle with the thing on it for like $600.

He paid about $400 too much, I think, that rifle was dysfunctional as hell, and he was either too stupid or too unmotivated to do the work to make it right.

>>29883553
At a certain point, as long as it goes bang, an AR is an AR is an AR. They all throw little metal chunks downrange. The real dividing line is the ones that can't even do that reliably.
