When you get tired of the worn finish, get some tips on metal finishing and hand polish it to the highest gloss you like. If you do that right you can probably get a gunsmith to hot-blue it for not too much. Most of the work of rebluing is in the metal preparation.
A Makarov with a true deluxe polished blue would be pretty unique. It would look like a high grade 1911 or Colt revolver...but be a Makarov.
