Which model should I get?
Nuck Cabela's has the carbine model for $369, the sporter for $529, the takedown for $549, and the target for $789.
Depends on what you want. Do you want the mother of all aftermarkets in a .22 or something more along a camp/hiking rifle?
>>29827985
>Carbine 10/22
>$369
Holy shit, where do you live?
>>29828034
>'Nuck
>Canuck
Probably Canadian
Holy shit anon. For that price you could get a CZ or a tikka or something.
>>29828054
yes
>>29828000
checked; and
it's mostly going to be for target shooting, just general practice shooting standing unsupported, etc. possibly some rabbit hunting, but i'm back at uni during the hunting season and might not take the rifle with me.
is the target model much better than the standard ones? I was planning on getting the takedown just for convenience's sake, but would like to get some reviews/recommendations/experiences from /k/ w/r/t the other models
>>29827985
You should get the 10/22 international.
>>29828150
is that a custom/discontinued order? i can't find it on the manufacturer's website
>>29828150
whoa that looks good.

>>29827985
What the fuck, why are 10/22s so expensive? I have three .22 rifles and I didn't pay more than $125 for any of them.
I have a sporter. Nice rifle, no regrets.
>dat walnutty goodness
>>29827985
I paid $200 after shipping on the 50th anniversary one from Gunbroker. US though, so ymmv.
Unless you have a specific reason to buy one of the more expensive, I would suggest just going with the carbine model. That being said, I have a takedown 10/22 and am quite pleased with it.
>>29828250
Welcome to the past 6 years
>>29828100
If you want something easy to carry around, the TD is pretty compact and even comes with a low key carrying case.
>>29828303
Also meant to say, if you want to tart it out with a big ol bull barrel, custom stock, and spend many times what the gun was originally worth, get the standard carbine version. No point in having a takedown with 20 lbs worth of extra barrel and stock.
Definitely the tactical
I live in Illinois and there's a full wood frame one, like goes all the way to the end of the barrel, for about 300$.
Is that still too much?
>>29827985
>>29828372
300 is about what one with a mannlicher stock goes for.
>>29828391
at this point it's just a 10/22 of Theseus
>>29827985
Doesn't matter which you get, you aren't going to find reasonably priced ammo.
Except for Thundershit, which probably won't cycle your firearm...
>>29827985
The Target and Tactical do not have iron sites so unless you plan to put an optic on it I wouldnt go with one of those.
There is a version of the take-down model that also has iron sites. If you like that look then that's the best model, imo.
Pic related.
>>29828150
This guy gets it
>>29828219
>>29828232
Here's mine
>>29828587
people like you keep repeating that and even at today's "rape" prices compared to previous years 22LR is still cheaper than every single other round out there. There's other reasons to not buy a 22LR gun but ammo price isn't one of them.
>>29827985
CZ 512
>>29828587
in nuckland it is still plentiful
basspro has shelves upon shelves of cci minimag for sale, $7 per 100 rounds
>>29827985
Why is your TD so expensive? We get them here for like 350
>>29828054
Yeah, should have thought of that, makes sense.
>>29828100
Not sure whether you guys have access to the same accessory market in Canada and if its priced similarly, but I would say get the carbine or takedown. If you just want it for general target shooting and rabbit hunting, the carbine or takedown model should be plenty accurate.
If you just want to shoot and be able to pack it up very easily, go with the takedown. If you want to get crazy with customizations or making it more accurate, get the carbine. You can practice with it and slowly upgrade into the rifle you want.
>>29827985
>canada
>takedown
no
Just get a short barrel and enjoy your 10" or 8" 10/22. The Takedown is for here in the US where you need a 16" barrel or the ATF shoots your dog.
The Takedown models have an 18.5" barrel, and a slightly longer receiver. You don't have to meet 26" OAL or 16" BBL for rimfire in Canada. Why get a takedown when you can have a folding stock and an 8" barrel or a 90/22 kit and a 13.5" barrel?
PSA: The difference in velocity between 10" and 16" for generic 22lr is about 50fps.
the takedown is pretty comfy, IMO
comes with a handy lil backpack, so you can shove the whole thing under a car seat
If I were you, I'd hit up your local pawn shops for barely-been-fired 10/22s. Generally $100 to $200 cheaper for near mint status.
That being said, I love my 10/22 Takedown. I'm currently in the process of acquiring a SB-X Barrel Upgrade for SBS Suppressed status without a Form 4 for the SBS.
>>29830338
Also forgot to say that I'm also looking at getting some wood furniture for the takedown.
>>29830338
>>29830351
He's in Canada
I like my takedown too, I even SBR'd my Charger 22, but it's not the right choice for OP.
>>29830575
Dunno how the syrup's laws work with the takedowns and whatnot, or with pawn shops.
I lucked out and got one of the special walmart runs. 22 inch stainless without barrel band. it's bretty good if you can find one used.
I got the carbine variant today what is the best website for aftermarket parts
>>29830656
whoever sells volquartsen parts the cheapest

alright thanks

how are the ruger 22 pistols? LGS has a intratec for 250 or so, and i've been wanting a 22 handgun for casual camp plinking
the 22 revolvers feel like shit though
>>29831272
The Intratec .22 is absolutely horrible. Pass on it.
Ruger makes the gold standard for .22s in any form (a number of companies do better, but Ruger .22s are by far the most popular). You won't go wrong with one and will also get the biggest and best aftermarket for .22 pistols.
>>29831348
damn, i see the intratec going for 100 more than that, so thought it might be a good deal
I dont want to pay $400 for a .22 i just want to fuck around with, but the rough rider revolvers are the only other ones that seem cheap enough
>>29831272
ruger .22s are notoriously hard to clean
plus that luger grip is not so good for long-fingered ppl like myself
browning buckmark all the way
>>29831413
You'll pay that much for any halfway worthwhile pistol. Buckmarks, etc, all around $400.
Or you could do like I did and go buy a grand worth of Model 41
>>29831447
Ruger .22s are a bitch to clean the first time you do it if you have no idea what you are doing. Watching a youtube video on how to disassemble it as you go will relieve most of those troubles.
>>29827985
wtf 550 bucks for a ruger 22? fuck that dude, you live in the land of $300 SVT-40s. get that instead
>>29831502
i really hate the way they look, but i love how they shoot. i dont know why manufacturers cant just make a simple fucking aesthetically pleasing 22 pistol these days. for fucks sake. its like they dont recognize the market for plinkers/blasters and skip/cater only to the target crowd. some people just want a lightweight modern looking 22 for blasting cans. the SR22 is about the only option right now, everything else is shit tier reliability or ugly as fuck
>>29828825
This. Look into dlask barrels
>>29830575
Pic of charger?
>>29828150
Sexy, do want.
This has my vote, Opie
i think i'm going to get the carbine so i can have some cash left over for upgrades...
what does /k/ think of the magpul x22 stock?
>>29833204
Good idea. I've got one, it makes it a bit heavier but I like it a lot more. The length of pull and comb height adjustment is great. Also love the fact that it can use the normal or bull barrels, in case you want to upgrade the stock now and barrel in the future. I'd also suggest a trigger upgrade, I quite like the Ruger BX trigger.
>>29828753
>$7 per 100
>laughingninjaturtle.jpg
I vowed to never get a .22 until the prices are $1.30 per 50 again. All you cucks are contributing to this madness. At this point you may as well get a bb gun for target shooting.
>>29835275
Good for you. Just keep waiting and telling yourself that prices always go back to the way they were.
I bought the takedown model simply because it makes it easier to transport. Do note, though, that the takedown can't use the custom 100 round mags.
>>29835275
the $7 is also in nuckbux
>>29833488
checked; and what about this bad boy? http://www.timneytriggers.com/shop/timney-10/22-black-housing-replacement-trigger.aspx
>>29827985
>$789
>For a .22LR
Why?
>>29836874
>muh "target" model
>>29836852
No experience with it, but I've heard that those are better than the Ruger BX trigger. And it comes with the extended magazine release which is nice. It was just more than I felt like spending on a trigger at the moment.
>>29836874
They are a $200 gun tops. Yikes
>>29836874
same reason the mini14 target models are retardedly overpriced
>>29836874
It's also Canada, and our firearm prices are almost double yours in many cases.
>>29828587
fl reporting
local academy always has it stocked at sub 7cpr. Sometimes bulk buckets o bullets for 4.5cpr. (what i was paying be Sandy)
thundershit cycles fine in my 10/22. I do clean it after shooting that stuff tho
