I've been looking around for a bolt action rifle, wood furniture for the past several days now.

Im tossing up a few different guns (one being the nugget of various models), but right now im looking at the swiss K11 carbine

What is /k/'s opinion on the K11? If i do decide to get it there's a good chance it'll be from classic firearms. Estimated MOA?
>>
What state are you in? Got a buddy selling a 1911 Swiss in TN for 325. Nice gun.

Im in Utah, which is more than a little far away
>>
>>29828192
Yeah Mormanland is a pretty far piece from here.
>>

The K11 and K31 are pretty cool rifles. The rifle is more of a "Hey kid, ever seen a straight pull before" kind of thing since the ammunition sure gets costly pretty quick
>>
>>29828512
Yeah, well at least the ammo is cheaper than a mauser. Are there other, similarly priced bolt action rifles that have cheaper ammo?
>>
Mauser
>>
>>29828018
What part of Tennessee
>>
>>29828582
actually its over twice the price of 8mm mauser. the cheapest milsurp ammo is mosin food followed by 8mm mauser.
>>
>estimated MOA
probably around 2 with factory ammo, maybe less if you are lucky. its not going to print clover leafs at 200 yards

why not get a garand OP? the all american milsurp, semi auto, plentiful 30.06?
>>
>>29830940
Source? I've seen 20 nugget rounds for about $13, 7.5mm swiss for $16, and 8mm mauser for near $20

In contrast, ive seen .308 win for $10

Because it's a thousand dollars

Which is ballistically superior? 7.5 or .308?
>>
>>29831062
great site

>Which is ballistically superior? a .308 diameter projectile or a .308 diameter projectile
>>
>>29831445
Oh. Wow yeah that is a big difference.

Do any of you own a mauser? How is it?
>>
>>29831519
Forget >>29831574 's snottyness. The two are roughly the same though, as far as factory performance goes.
>>
>>29831700
I have some Mausers, I like them. They aren't as consistently in as good of mechanical condition as a Swiss rifle though.

You win either way.
>>
>>29831700
i actually dont own a mauser but m48s are supposed to be good quality rifles for cheap. if youre going to be getting ito milsurp shooting you should really get into reloading. sooner or later all of that milsurp will dry up. most of it has already
>>
>>29831574
In his defense, the shape does matter
>>
>>29828512
this
k11/k31 are the rotary engines of firearms

>lemme tell you how the bolt works
>>
>>29831780
you can load either caliber for nearly any shape or composition projectile with .308 diameter. it was a silly question and he got a silly answer.
>>
>>29831830
I think he was talking about the case shape which does have a significant effect on the ballistics.
>>
>>29831856
yes but youre getting pretty technical at that point. only the most anal handloaders are going to be concerned about case shape.
>>
>>29831700
I have an 1893 Turk mauser and I love it
>>
Anyone in south Texas know where to get a decent Mauser 98k?
>>
>>29827981
Personally I'd wait for a K31.
They should be more accurate than a nugget, while being about as fun to shoot.

Downside is you pretty much have to reload, though it's a nice cartridge to do that with since it uses .308 dia bullets.

Houston and San Antonio have big ass gun and militaria shows all the time. More then the DFW area.
>>
>>29831805
>k11/k31 are the rotary engines of firearms
Except the K11/K31 rifles are actually really good rifles where as rotary engines are absolute trash.
>>
>>29833240
>They should be more accurate than a nugget
Ray Charles with a pistol is more accurate than a nugget
>>
>>29830959
The K31 with GP11 is a solid 1 MOA rifle.
